Week 8 Official Game Thread - The Overrated Coach Bowl - SF @ CHI , +3.5, O/U 39.5, SUN 10/31, 12PM CT - FOX
Seems Peters is more in tune with what the fan base is concerned about and fueling the fire. Which normally I’d not be a fan of, but in this case it’s warranted. And he’s probably become a de-facto spokesperson for the rest of the team by showing how mismanaged they are right now. Like you said, he’s really got nothing to lose.

And this little nugget from Peters. Damn! That’s what my daughters would refer to as “spilling the tea”. Is Peters working to become the new team PR man?

Will they go back to Dalton?
I’m torn on this. Yes I agree it is important for someone like Fields to learn under fire but at what cost? At this point all teams need to do is focus on pressuring him and not give him any time to process anything. And what’s worse with him being sacked as much as he has been its only a matter of time before he gets injured. A few times now while scrambling he’s taken some awkward steps that at some point won’t end up well. This is not at all good for him. At this point I think having Dalton take over would be better for Fields’ development. He would need to understand that due to the current circumstances he’s be better off learning from watching and learning than by being under constant fire. I think he’s mature enough to understand that. I don’t think Nagy should be the one making that decision or call but rather whomever the interim HC is. Preferably Mike Pettine.

Saw this elsewhere. Apparently Jason Peters does better at updates than does Nagy. Also speculated that ‘Jenkins will be back in a few weeks.’

There were at least two long throws that White had beat coverage on and Winston just overthrew him both times. Would’ve been at least one TD.

Watching tonight’s game with Jamal Adams playing Safety the way it supposed to be done. ☹️ …and there was a Kevin White sighting!

The day after
Indeed. What’s sad is he gets 100 yards on the ground (the first that’s happened this year to the Bucs) and not one TD. No way to motivate him or any of the other players, especially the linemen, to play hard.

Any chance they could have Nagy and Romo switch jobs?

I hate to say it but If the offense does nothing this series (after 2nd TB tD) probably time to bring in Dalton.

Another “ouch”. Can’t catch a break on the oline. Hambright does have experience as OLT for Oklahoma State and Colorado when in college.

Yeah my ‘bust’ and yeah he needs to stay out awhile.

Fields Named Starter for Season
With Belichick as the coach, not all that surprising. I hate to give Josh Daniels credit too but he does pretty good as an OC. Much better than Nagy. And NO WAY NO HOW would I ever want Daniels as HC in Chicago.

Playoffs, are we talking about the Playoffs? Yes, yes we are
And another year of Nagy and Pace…right? ??? But really, if the Bears win…we win as fans.

Think his (Hicks) hammy injury could be a longer term issue. Good to see Williams back. He’s a good alternative runner to Herbert.

Martellus Bennett
I read through his post and still not really sure what the context is. But it appears he struck a sympathetic nerve with some race issues in Wisconsin.

Sean Desai
The fact that the defensive secondary as a whole is the weakest link is the issue. That’s where Desai got his start. Jackson hasn’t been good since 2018, the last year Fangio was around. It’s like the biggest issue with the team overall is the offensive production and that’s where Nagy got his start. Don’t get me wrong, Desai’s doing a pretty good job with the defense right now but it could be mostly due to the players in the front 7. We’d need to see more from him before he was considered a HC.

I have a strange feeling it’ll be closer, like 21-17 and really think either team could win. Yeah I know it’s crazy to suggest but I don’t see a walk-away win from TB.

Ouch. I read elsewhere that Williams remains on the COVID list.

Free season for Nagy?
He had a 12-4 record and made the playoffs year one. Then regressed to an 8-8 record the following year. Year three he again managed an 8-8 record BUT made the playoffs. So far this year he’s gotten a .500 record (at 3-3). By record alone he’s very nearly the definition of mediocrity. But the question is…if Fields pieces together a string of wins regardless of whose making the calls, can you simply let go of Nagy? Never mind a winning season but IF they make the playoffs? Last time the team fired a coach with a winning record was Lovie when he went 10-6. Understand I’m no longer a fan of Nagys. Not even as the HC. But IF the team manages to win more than it loses, can you just let him go? If so, how do you make the case? It might come down to how the offense ranks at the end of the season. Considering this is his expertise (offense) right now the offense ranks dead last or close to last in almost all major offensive categories.

Free season for Nagy?
Speaking as a devil’s advocate (sorta), if Fields improves and the team wins isn’t that a good thing? What if then?
