  1. I have a co-worker who has said a few times that he thinks Foles is much better without a lot of preparation. You saw him play well against Atlanta when he took over there. And somehow did well filling in for Wentz back in Philly. Although there he maintained his good play all the way to the Super Bowl. Maybe there’s something to it? Maybe you’re right? What would they have to lose if Trubisky can’t put it together today and decide to play Foles? As an aside. How about that Wash QB Heinikie? Pretty impressive performance yesterday.
  2. Although I’m not AS optimistic as you I’m cautiously optimistic. These two teams met a few weeks back and the Bears lost in OT. A few things are different; Thomas will probably be available, Roquan may not, they’re playing in NO and Trubiksy is starting instead of Foles. Will all that make a difference?
  3. You’re not mistaking him for Champ Bailey are you? Interesting enough, this Champ (Kelly) did work on the Broncos staff a few years ago as a scout and player manager. (I had to look it up because I wasn’t 100% sure myself).
  4. Or this... and count me also intrigued.
  5. I feel like this is a trick question. There should be others to consider, like Trubiksy’s peer draftees; Mahomes and Watson. Or even potential FAs for next year like Newton, Prescott and Winston.
  6. Hmmm....that’s a good question.
  7. I know Pagano is getting a lot of the blame for the defense inefficiency but Alex Brown recently pointed out that the players on defense simply aren’t doing their jobs either. Bahktiari being out should have made for a great statistical day for Mack or even Quinn if they were swapping places. How about Hicks and his interior presence? Where was he? And the defensive backfield? Three dropped INTs between Mingo, Vildor and Jackson. Any one of those individually could have made a huge impact, let alone all three. I don’t care who you have in the backfield, QBs like Rogers and Brees are going to make them look bad. Rogers just has more experience in doing it over the years.
  8. Makes sense. I think it might be that he’s been successful enough at NW that he’s be considered for the big gig in town. Like Connor said though he (Fitz) can pretty much write his own ticket if he stays at NW.
  9. Adam this might be in your wheelhouse. Saw this story recently (below) in a few places. That being Bears personnel man Champ Kelly is becoming highly sought after as a GM around the league. First question I have is, why not for the Bears? Anyhow, something I learned from this was if he’s taken by another team as a GM then the Bears could gain another third round draft pick(?). https://www.bleachernation.com/bears/2021/01/05/panthers-ask-for-permission-to-interview-bears-exec-champ-kelly-broncos-next/?fbclid=IwAR2p2Wzwjwaj8gjNj25QnA08VitgUe_VPIZVY9-opld-412fVHLwCSqGSeo
  10. Was considering starting another thread on this because I’m genuinely curious. Why not Harbaugh? Didn’t he do well enough on the NFL stage to warrant another go? And why not for a team that (on the surface) matches his coaching style? That being brash and Bo Schmebecchler-ish. And this isn’t only for Mongo to answer, please anyone share your thoughts. I have more opinions about how well Urban Meyer will do but I’ll save that for another day.
  11. Conceptually he’s not far off, especially in hindsight. But yeah this is over a year and a pandemic ago. Hey he even suggested getting OLmen with his idea. You should like that.
  12. Yeah something tells me Urban Meyer is in for a rude awakening if he does indeed take an NFL HC job. IMHO he’d be along the lines of how Chip Kelly, Steve Spurrier or Nick Saban did in the NFL versus their College HC experiences. On the other hand, where someone like Harbaugh hasn’t done so well in College (recently) he did better in the NFL.
  13. Curious why not Fitzgerald? I get why not Harbaugh (although personally I wouldn’t mind it) but trying to get a read on Fitz. I don’t know enough about the guy but see he’s had a ‘decent’ career at NW. And looking historically at our posts here a few have nominated him as a potential candidate for HC.
  14. Relatively speaking yes, what you’re talking about is for an offense that is explosive and can stretch the field. That is not this offense. For this current type of offense to work with the current players in place you have to play smart and control the clock WITH a complimentary defense that can keep the opponent’s offense out of the end zone. You see what happens when they get desperate on offense and they can’t control what the other teams offense is doing.
  15. Edit: delete this post. Apparently I had a moment of delusion.
  16. If I haven’t said it enough it bears repeating that I love Moody! He’s an absolute stud little receiver.
  17. Other than the Kmet (questionable) fumble and Triubiskys near miss at the end of the game, the offense is doing well. They were playing smart Bears-type ball-control offense. But with GB being able to do as they please on offense, won’t matter how good the Bears O plays. Weird to have to be worried about the D playing well.
  18. Daryl Johnston’s right. They’ve figured something out with their #3 receiver. That’s the D’s weakest link right now with NB (Shelly) and LB coverage in those situations. With Smith out that’s a big issue.
  19. Don’t really want the Bears in the playoffs if they have to hope somebody else wins to do it.
  20. Hate to say it but Pagano tried to do a blitz and this is what happened. Unfortunately they had old man Danny T doing the coverage in the slot AND while pretending to blitz. If anyone that works better if you have Roquan in...or Urlacher.
  21. Getting pressure on Rodgers will have a bigger affect on this game more than anything. Historically speaking Rodgers and GB has had a hey day against Chicago and it’s secondary no matter who the receivers are or whoever's covering them. If our front seven does their job and (a) stops the run and (b) puts unrelenting pressure on Rodgers, they can win. TB did it, Indy did it and the Vikings did it during their second game against each other and won. The Bears didn’t put pressure on Rodgers in game one, will they in game two?
