As far as 'safety' goes there were two parts to Cabo (if memory serves). The resort section aka Cabo San Lucas then the actual village / town of Cabo where all the locals live. You have to pass through Cabo to get to the San Lucas part. I don't recall it being scary dangerous just not as tourist friendly. I'd imagine in the last 20 years that's all changed a bit. Stinger could speak to it better than me. The marina and most of the beach area were all mostly part of the resort areas.

Like DK Metcalf??? That would be wonderful.

Last December when I was in Cali there was a guy buying $80 shots of some high end version of Petron(?) He tried to get me to do one with him...had to pass as I was working on my second Old Fashioned and not usually a good practice to blend Whiskey and Tequila.

When my wife and I were dating we went to Cabo and stopped at an Italian restaurant near the marina. Can't remember the name of the place but man it was good eats and the prices were decent (this was over 20 years ago....) Did a fishing charter where we split the cost with another couple and seem to recall the prices were resonable (we didn't have a lot of disposable income). Wasn't a huge operation but they did good with supplying lunches and drinks with a crew of two I think it was. Found them at the marina. These were the days before Tripadvisor. Cabo Wabo was all the rage then....

Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?
Alaskan Grizzly replied to BearFan PHX's topic in Bearstalk
We know that they conducted 'exit interviews' at the end of the season with everyone. And outwardly heard from some of the current players on their preference. I also suspect those interviews weighed in on the decision to retain Flus. -
For me it was/is Tequila. And this is the proper way to say it.

Well to be fair, Skip and Troy are not friends. Ne’er theless…the stats are what they are.

Saw the below post on X over the weekend. Got me to thinking and ... whaddya know? Aikman 1989-1991 Win/Loss record: 14-24 7,082 ttl passing yards, 31 TDs, 46 INTs 1989 159 passing yards / game 55.7 rate 1990 171.7 passing yds / game 66.6 rate 1991 229.5 passing yds / game 86.7 rate (made the Pro Bowl) Fields 2021-2023 Win/Loss record: 10-28 6,674 ttl passing yards, 40 TDs / 30 INTs 2021 155.8 passing yds / game 73.2 rate 2022 149.5 passing yds / game 85.2 rate (chosen as #86 overall player by peers) 2023 197.1 passing yds / game 86.3 rate Year four for Aikman (1992) was a pretty big one for him (and Dallas). After losing in the second round of the playoffs in 1991 the Cowboys made it all the way to the Super Bowl and won it.

I resigned to being Skip because he responded as such. ??♂️

Wouldn’t say I don’t “like” Maye just don’t trust him (or what the “experts” are saying about him). And because Mongo likes him I have to be a contrarian. ? Did you miss our “Undisputed” exchange?
-
I’d be interested in any type of trade that includes Crosby. Just as long as Maye isn’t the QB at the end. ? Don’t tell Magnolia I said that. ?
-
I saw another similar scenario with Wash (not as many picks) but included Daron Payne. ❓❔
-
Hmm. Sounds eerily familiar in some context. At least headed in that direction. ?

You know what’s crazy (and revisiting that quick turn to success discussion) is how just a few years ago SF GM John Lynch traded the farm for Lance and as recent as the beginning of this season was on the hot seat for it (below). Yet he’s now on his way to another Super Bowl with ‘Mr Irrelevant’ as his QB. Absolutely nuts . https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/trading-trey-lance-could-be-the-demise-of-john-lynch-and-kyle-shanahan-in-san-francisco

Maybe the simple answer is one “known” commodity with NFL experience and drive vs an “unknown” nfl commodity and questionable drive? ??♂️

They chose to keep Antonio Pierce as HC (good choice IMHO) so the best Getsy would do here is OC. Their QB situation is cloudy at the moment. Kingsbury was supposed to help Pierce get credibility as a former HC himself. Makes me wonder if a former HC is what they’re looking for in this position? IE: Kelly? ?

To be fair, there are some really good female football analysts out there. Mina Kimes comes to mind and I’d agree the aforementioned Courtney Cronin is another. -
Well that’s interesting indeed. It sure has been a “silly season” this year. Belichick outside looking in, highly regarded OC coordinators (plural) choosing to stay put and this (below) … (Bienemy it appears will always be the bridesmaid). Chip Kelly? Really?

You used that analogy once for Bagent, and it made sense. I actually like that measurement. But then why did he end up as an UDFA? ??♂️ I know part of the answer has to do with D2 competition and now I’m wondering how he compared to Wentz or Lance. Curious what Purdy’s volume was? I’ll have to take a look. Good sound content as always Adam . Thanks for the replies. And keep slinging those numbers. ?

And remember when there was all that buzz over Chicago flying to the West Coast a few weeks back? There was talk they were going to come back with Kingsbury as the new OC because of his connection to Williams. Kingsbury is now in Vegas.
-
Some time ago I asked you the question if you thought he could do better elsewhere (you indicated he might) why couldn't he do better if he had a new system to work with in Chicago? Like with the arrival of Waldron? You never answered that. Did you really type this with a straight face? Understanding your premise that Williams had a better (overall) passing game I'll ask again, who was he playing against? Michigan? Clemson? How many FCS playoff games did he appear in? What was his overall record against top-25 teams? While at Ohio State, Fields was 20-2. The two losses being in the playoffs. And while with USC, Williams was 18-8. And since we're talking regression, besides his overall win/loss record getting worse he threw for over 4,500 yards the year he won the Heisman and dipped to just over 3,600 last season. How does that translate to the NFL? What formula are you using to come up with the "247-361 per game"? Did you take into the account of the ~20% drop in passing yards from the two seasons above? First point..."weaker competition"? Seriously Adam? And yes, your point about him having less than stellar receivers to work with is a valid point that I could agree with. If you don't have a passing game threat (which involves good receivers) then the focus goes against the skill players that can produce. This post brought to you courtesy of Maker's Mark ?♂️

He is? -
To the first point, it really comes down to collegiate performance and experience before being drafted. I know that doesn’t always equal out to success in the NFL (aka Mahomes) but it does help you formulate a rough idea of how that guy is gonna do when given the chance on the big stage. For Trubisky I didn’t see a history in college that convinced me he was “the guy”. What did he have, one year of starter experience before coming into the league? And if you add he had to wait for Marquise Williams to leave before he started, then I had less faith in him being able to sustain success. With Justin, I see him having more success not just as a player (appearing in two consecutive playoff series while in college and a ‘winning’ record against SEC teams) but also as a stand up guy in a lot of regards. He appealed to Warren directly to ask that the Big 10 play during COVID and when he left Georgia for Ohio State, he had a season he could have taken off but instead appealed to start playing immediately. He’s a true competitor…IMHO… and has a drive to succeed. (and by the way, to those supporters/believers in Stroud. Remember both Justin and he came from the same system. And generally speaking Ohio State QBs get banged on for not being able to do well in the NFL. Let’s see how Strouds doing in two years before we “crown” him). The second part of Justin I would totally agree with. The team “blew up” before his very eyes. His first year was when the pieces started to fall off the airplane and his second year was when it nosedived. His third year was when they started to try and rebuild and whether he’s the pilot in this analogy or not, he came out of it battered. The question for me is, how does he carry himself going forward? History shows as a person he’ll rise above it . But will his QB play improve too?
-
You know how we get focused on the “what ifs” of this conversation? What if we miss on a generational talent? What if Justin gets exponentially better if given the right opportunity? Each of those scenarios can be explained away by stats and in some cases, logic. My fear is that “#1 overall talent” doesn’t always equal success. Just like your explanation of how three years of tape on Justin shows he can’t/won’t get any better. We could go down any number of rabbit holes to prove or disprove each other’s point. We’ll of course drive ourselves crazy until the 25th of April trying to figure out exactly what it is that Poles and the team plan on doing. Oh yes, if only we could be a fly on that wall.
