Yet again, the Bears' DBs don't look back for the ball. This time it's McManis who is completely oblivious.

Thank you. I have been saying that for quite some time. The Lions are just daring the Bears to stretch the field.

We're all in agreement here. Fangio has done wonders. But today they haven't looked great. The pass coverage has been spotty at best, and the rush has been non-existent. If not for three boneheaded plays by the Lions, this game could very well be a blowout right now.

There's a shocker. The Bears' ST fails to live up to expectations again.

I'd rather they reward the stud that got them there.

Serious question... Have the Bears gotten a legitimate sack all year, one that wasn't the result of a blitz or extended coverage? It seems the DEs never get around the edge and the DTs never push the pocket.

AAaaand another drop. Forte had blocks set up on that little bubble screen.

That's an easy one. The kicking team on a punt can't recover and advance the ball. It's dead when they pick it up. The only way for the kicking team to score is for the receiving team to catch it, then fumble it.

1. The Bears should be running more. 2. The Bears should be giving Forte the ball 95% of those runs. That is all.

The Lions have had TWO special teams errors giving the Bears the ball deep in Lion territory. There is no way the Bears should lose this game.

Yeah, pretty crazy Three Stooges stuff.

Were the last two weeks fool's gold? This team looks really bad again. At this point the Bears' defense needs DEs, LBs, and CBs, at the least.

Bennett apparently has problems catching the ball, and now he is falling down on routes. Great. Pretty difficult to tell whether or not a pass is in the right area if the receiver falls down. Cutler is out of sync. He needs someone to step up and help right now.

Is it possible that the Bears are just a really undisciplined team? Kyle Long didn't even have to reach out to block on that play. Forte already had the edge.

Damn good route by Forte. If Cutler hits him Forte might still be running.

Cutler has to run out of the pocket on every other play. If his initial three-step drop isn't there, he's in trouble. And then a drop by Wilson. And then another play where Cutler has to run.

I just watched the INT 10 times in row, and I'm behind the action, but that's an atrocious play by Alshon. He had a slow get off, poor juke off the line, didn't get the edge for the outside fade, and made zero effort after the DB contacted him. Not a great throw by Cutler - it should have been further into the corner - but it would be nice if Alshon looked remotely good on that play. Having said all that, I hate the Bears' play-calling in the red zone this year.

Absolutely nobody understands what constitutes a catch in the NFL anymore. The announcers, the rules interpreters, the former players, the current players. That's pretty crazy. I don't know what the replay guy up in the booth is doing, but I thought for sure the Bears would get the benefit of that.

On Monday the coaching staff should do nothing but work on basic tackling techniques. I'm talking about breakdowns, driving the legs, wrapping up. Peewee stuff. So many bad angles and missed tackles.

I'd say the success percentage on passes to Mariani when it's a big play are very, very slim. It's not like he has the speed to get away from the average defender. And it's not like he's hyper-athletic compared to DBs.

Rice is unequivocally the best WR of all time, and it's not even remotely close. His abilities, stats, longevity, hands, everything. He's untouchable. But Montana only had him as a security blanket the first six years of Rice's historic career. Taylor was really good, 2 time probowler, but was a complimentary guy overall. He did have Roger Craig pretty much his entire career, however. Brady, however, had Troy Brown, Deion Branch, David Givens, Reche Caldwell for the first couple years. After that, however, he had Welker & Moss for a few years combined, and Moss left just when Gronkowski was coming in. So, although he had a few years to start this career where he had scrubs for the most part, he's had the majority of his career with maybe the 2nd best WR of all time, or one of the best possession WRs of all time, or maybe the best pass catching TE of all time. And if Moss, Welker, or Gronk don't fit into those #1 slots on someone's board, they're certainly in the discussion. It's close between those two for #1.
