He signs off on all of these moves. I dont want TED PHILLIPS interfering with these moves as he is not a Football guy, I would have NO problem with the right guy doing it. I know this is not possible but just think about this: Polian the CEO/President Do you think Polian hires Emery? Do you think Polian lets Emery hire Trestman? Do you think Polian lets Emery sign Cutler to this deal? Ted Phillips hiring Emery was a total fail, end of story. After that Ted signed off on all the moves he made, Ted not knowing shit about football is not the guy to be signing off on these moves. Ted Phillips does not have the Bears set up well, look at GB, BAL, NE and Pit, do you think these teams would need to hire Ernie to find a GM? The answer is no. Shit, BAL already had the next GM in line. Since we are not getting rid of Ted I want the next GM to have total control.

I read an article stating that Ted Phillips signs off on all moves made. Lets review Teds moves: He hired JA not a total fail. But I do believe JA made some major mistakes the last 4 or 5 years. Should have been fired earlier. He agreed to give Lovie more control, which lead to some bad moves He hired Emery= total fail He signed off on Trestman = total fail He signed off on the Cutler contract= keeping Cutler was not a fail, just giving him that much money was fail If Ted had a clue these moves could have been changed. Had he not hired Emery this all could have been different. He is the CEO/ President of this team, the Bears record under him is 129-127. I really dont care what he does his record is terrible. It's all about winning, the Bears have not won enough under his watch.

Where is Frazier now? If Toub is hired he will need a good OC and DC. He is a career SP Teams coach.

Benson had some good years in Cincy and even 1 or 2 in GB. HE had the talent, just didnt work here in Chi. The guy got his attitude right after Chicago.

Thats his name, I completely had a brain fart trying to remember it. He said he told JA early on that Ballard had IT and that he would one day be a GM. Talked about how he has coached and scouted and is well rounded. Also said that he thought Ballard wont take any job unless he is getting everything he wants. I hope Ballard wants total control and Ted Phillips out. If that's what Ballard wants and gets then I will be very happy. I still cant believe that EVERYONE you talk to or hear talk about the Bears thinks that Ted Phillips should not be involved in football operations. The Only people with faith in Ted is the McCaskeys.

There are some pro's and con's with Shanny, as there are with every guy. Let me ask you guys this: Bowles or Shanny? Cant decide Toub or Shanny? Shanny Gase or Shanny? Shanny Quinn or Shanny? I could go either way on this one Kubiak or Shanny? I could go either way on this one There is a part of me that is intrigued by Bowles after reading up on him, but then I think about hiring a guy with actual HC experience and tend to lean that way. As we have seen with Trestman, the Bears HC will need to form a great coaching staff. I wonder which of these guys would be able to bring in the best staff?

Part of me agrees. Same old same old. As others have said, he is highly touted by everyone. Either way anyone will be better than Trestman and Emery.

I wonder if the Bears are the only one offering TOTAL control and that's why he is declining the Jets and Eagles Which would mean Teddy is going to be on the business side only....

I dont think Taub needs to be a guru on either side, thats what the OC and DC are for. Sometimes the HC takes on too much by being involved in one side more than the other. Take Lovie, he was a defensive minded coach and the offense was neglected. It goes both way, I guess. Tucker was hired for the DC, most were upset with this hire. If the HC is a guru on one side of the ball(like Trestman) then the other side better have a good Coordinator.

Any guy that gets to the GM position in the NFL does something right, so you are right with JA. My biggest issues with JA may have more to do with Lovie having more control....Who knows but for years everyone screamed that the Bears needed to fix the oline and add weapons on O, they failed to do so. Was it Lovie or JA????? My take on it is that I wanted someone who has seen or was taught how to do things from a different franchise NE, BAL, GB, SEA Whatever they are doing its working

I know his demeanor is not the best on the field but it doesnt mean he is not a good leader. Now what Mongo posted is only from 1 player, I would be interested in what others have to say. I agree with you, they need to try to find THEE guy every year until they do.

I agree with what you are saying. But dont waste your time trying to convince TD. He refuses to see the other side. I agree with TD- Jay is overpaid and NOT an Elite QB but you can win with him. Cutler is most likely in that 10-15 range ranking of QB's. The problem is the Bears paid him like a top 5 and everyone in Chicago wants him to be a top 5 QB, he is just not so most people are pissed. I sooooo wanted Jay to be an Elite QB, the Bears have never had one in my life time. Im still pissed that all he is not. The Bears biggest issues in no particular order: 1. Coaching- they have been fired, I really dont think you can do any worse than Trestman and Tucker. 2. Talent on the D- GM was fired, hopefully the new GM is better- Emery had some nice picks but he lacked in other areas. 3. Undisciplined football - blown coverage, miscommunications, stupid penalties.....see number 1 4. Poor play calling/scheme- offense was predictable, pass heavy.....see one number 1 (best part is Trestman said they would run more every week and failed to do it) 5. Coaches lost the locker room- see number 1 6. Ted Phillips- need I say more You can blame Cutler all you want, he didnt call the plays except for some audibles, he didn't coach the SP Teams, he didn't coach the Defense and he didn't cause all the stupid personalities(maybe a couple tho).

I have read alot of good things about Ballard. My only issue is his experience is from the Bears under JA and Emery. I was hoping to have the new GM be from a different franchise, one like the Ravens, NE, GB. A guy who has seen the way others do it. The Bear way is not working, and I was hoping for a new look and lead. As for Toub, my only issue is I was hoping for a HC to actually have HCexperience. At the end of the day, I think anyone will be better than trestman. I am more concerned with the GM hire. If Ballard is hired I will be excited to see what route he takes this team. A lot of people give this guy high remarks so he must know his shit.

Nope, I just dont have some deep seeded hatred for him. Did the Bears freak up by paying him so much.....yes. Have I been a Cutler supporter....yep, but have admitted I was wrong in thinking he could be an elite QB. He is not and will never be one but you sir are wrong in thinking Jay Cutler is not in the top 15 QB's and with the right coaching could be top 10. Jay Cutler can be a decent bridge to a future QB. The Bears can either cut/trade him and start over or try to win with him next year while developing a new QB. I'd prefer to try to win next year while developing a young QB. I do think Trestman was so terrible at being a HC that with the right hire the Bears may win two more games next year just by that. Then take some pressure off Cutler like Dallas did by actually running the ball we could see 2 more wins, add some more defense talent through the draft and FA and we could get to 10 wins.

He is a good Qb being paid like a great one. You forget the past 25 odd years of terrible qb's we have been through. Or maybe you are not old enough to remember.

So tired of hearing he is the highest paid player. I agree with you on this, he can be a top 10 qb. But he will need a solid oline and a well coached team. And maybe not the most predictable play calling I've ever seen. And maybe run the ball to set up the pass And maybe not be in 1st and 2nd longs due to stupid penalties. With saying that, just cut down on the freakin INT's!
