Talking about it on the score now. Marinelli said to go with Bruce........Emery really screwed this up. Its crazy that the Bears hired a GM that was in over his head and then that same GM hired a HC who was in over his head. Ted Phillips signed off on both of these deals. Thats the result you get when the President ceo is an accountant.
-
You are right about not knowing really what each guy has really done. Ballard may be a good choice. Here is my view on it. The Bears cant afford to screw this up. There is one name Eric Decosta that is already slated to be the next GM of the Baltimore ravens once Ozzie retires. He is a flat out, no doubt about it great hire. I have not heard one person say they wouldn't love this hire. Everyone wants him. This is the guy the Bears should be going after, they should be doing WHATEVER it takes.
-
Funny they are talking about this right now on the score........ They mentioned there are a lot of people that would not come here because of Ted and a lot of guys have left because of Ted. (this is talking heads media info) Mentioned that Decosta is probably the best guy suited for this position and that its sad that the Bears are out of the running because of Ted.
-
Why would the Bears be out of the running with Decosta because of Ted Phillips? Is it because he wants to be the head guy or that he doesnt want to work with Ted? If the Bears could get Decosta by demoting Ted then I say do it right now.
-
Why not offer Decosta Head of Football Operations????? That could maybe get him away from Baltimore????

100%.....love the zone blocking scheme I have played against the zone blcoking scheme in college, its a tough one to defend. Terrel Davis was a 6th round draft pick(i think)

Notice anything different??? I bolded a couple of positions. But the big thing I notice they have a bigger staff. Decosta and Newsome are both being mentioned for GM openings. They have a talented group of people leading their franchise.

I know you wouldnt want him because of the Cutler connection. Just that his connection to Cutler would sway you away from him. Shanny came out and said that he thought Cutler could still be a franchise QB. Shanny would know the issues with Cutler better than anyone, that would be a plus. He also knows how to deal with BM, from what Hub said yesterday BM is a locker room problem. BM would buy into playing for Shanny. I like his offense he runs. I also think he has the personality the Bears need from a HC. I think he would be able to assemble a good coaching staff as well. He is from the Chicago area, he knows the tradition of the Bears, something the Bears want...ie Ernie's connection to the Bears. I would be happy with Shanny as the Bears HC.

Emery came in after JA and kept most if not all of the scouting department and football operations staff from the JA regime. Wouldnt Ballard do the same? We want change, doesnt this lead to the same old same old? We need new eyes on players, new ideas, new hungry guys wanting to make a name for themselves. When new GM positions open up around the league do you ever hear of and of the Bears staff being mentioned for these positions???? I cant recall. The idea of a new Head of Football operations or GM would be to bring in some new talent to the staff. GB and Baltimore have guys constantly being interviewed or mentioned for new GM openings. These teams are doing it right. For change to happen there needs to a complete change in how the Bears do it. Maybe Ballard would change things up, it does worry me that he would keep a lot of the staff that is already in place.
-
Eric Decosta= For some reason his name is always mentioned but I think he is staying in Baltimore, next in line after Ozzie retires.
-
How good do you think Lovies team would have been with all of his old as dirt players???????
-
Is Vince Newsome related to Ozzie? I like the way the Ravens have been run. They are always in it. Ray Rice goes down, Justin Forsett comes in and they dont miss a beat. Hiring Ross after passing on him 3 years ago would be funny.
-
Agreed..... It's actually sad that our Ceo/president who has been in the NFL for 30 years can't hire a GM on his own. Its a joke. Like it's been said a million times....the Bears need a real ceo.......
-
The right way would be to hire a GM first, then let him hire a coaching staff. If the HC answers to the GM then that GM better be the guy to hire him. How can you hold the GM accountable if he didn't hire the HC.
-
You don't hire a GM and then coach and then hire a Football czar. You get Ted out of theire,Ernie and Greorge assemble a team of people to lead this franchise. I wanted real change, and I think we got a good amount of it. The right way is to put a new head of football operation to change the entire culture of the Bears. The culture Ted has created has sucked. Ted should have no say in the next GM. He has failed at the last two. His body of work is terrible. George doesn't need Ted involved. If Ernie is going to pick the guy why does Ted even have a voice. I will say I like that they hired someone to help, the Bears way is not the right way. I'm a Bears fan, so I'll deal with it. I hope they get a great one this time
-
I really want to know what Ted did to become untouchable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Im sorry but i was excited before the presser, now Im back to where I was before they fired Emery and trestman(i do think anyone will be better than Trestman)...... George McCaskey should be hiring a Head of Football Operations. They should not be making the decision on who the GM will be. They also said they would consider a HC who would be the GM.....are they out of their minds???? Same shit different day............
-
From the Presser Ernie will be making recommendations and involved in the interviewing process. The decision will be from Ted and George. George stated that ALL personnel decisions will be the GM and HC. Why is Ted involved??? They skirted around the question about Ted being held accountable. George said they looked at everyones Body of work......What has Ted done to make his body of work look so good?? If its the stadium I think he failed.

preliminary - sounds like the same ole same ole

I agree with you on Ted, I really dont want him on the Bears staff in any manner but for some reason the McCaskeys will not part with him. I dont understand it. The decision on the next GM will be made by both George and Ted.......... This is so freakin stupid -

I hate seeing Ted Phillips up there but from what it sounds like the GM will have final say on roster, Ted doesnt have say on it. If Ted has no say on football operations then Im cool with it. -
Teddy is not being demoted................
-
Interested in coaching not front office. Did not say he was interested in the Bears job or not.... Just wondering what everyone thinks about him as the HC? He won a SB in GB and got the Seahawks to one as well.
-
Hate to say this but please set the Bears up like the Pack!!! I pray the Bears will be run as well as the Pack!
