How much of the increase of the Bears worth is due to Phillips, the NFL has seen insane growth over the last 20 years. Every team has seen growth, the Miami Dolphins were bought for 150 million(early 90's) and then sold to Ross for 1.something billion. What did the Jaguars sell for??? The Bears growth is more due to the NFL's growth over anything Phillips did. Take a look at the new stadium Phillips was in charge of getting built. As soon as its done being built the rest of the NFL start building bigger and better stadiums. NY built a 80,000 plus stadium, then get a SB, Chicago will never get a SB. Phillips takes Solider Field from 68,000 to 62,000 but adds more luxury boxes(I guess teams do not share revenue from boxes only ticket sales) . GB keeps adding more and more seats. The Bears are in the 2nd largest market and have the smallest stadium in the NFL. How do you even defend that. It's a complete and utter fail. Home field advantage is huge in the NFL, having 80,000 screaming fans is better than 62,000. The more I look at Ted Phillips the more I look at him being the biggest piece to why the Bears have done everything wrong.

Just wanted to add the Car team jimmy started for sucked donkey dick. The talent on that offense was horrid

Here is one for ya, two different articles stated that Ted Phillips has a say in every dollar spent and every move made. Which means he Hired JA, Lovie, Emery, Trestman, Hired Tucker, signed off on Cutlers deal. All failed deals. If Emery and Trestman are fired how is Ted not?????
-
Maybe these ass clowns won't fire Emery....... I would be shocked. I think Emery and Coaching staff must be fired at the least.

Teddy must not have a gag reflex to have old Georgey boy in his pocket. this info really makes me pissed.

Rumor: Bears / Titans Reach Agreement on Cutler
Chitownhustla replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
Guys have said they could be benching him because of this reason. This would be another mistake by the front office. Not trading but making a trade before firing the staff and letting the new staff decide what to do with Cutler. I do not want anyone from this staff making any more decisions. Let the next group do this. -

That info is from Eric from the Eric and Kathy show on 101.9. I don't think he has anything to do with sports. His show is the morning drive. HEy maybe he knows somebody, but prolly not. -

Never heard of this guy, 49ers are loaded with Talent and so is Seattle.... I guess we have to first find out if Ted will be replaced or if its just Emery and coaching staff. I personally think Emery and Trestman are both gone.... You may be right about Holmgren having been out of the league for too long. If we are talking about a team president would you take Wolf or Bill Polian? -

Benson proved he could play after getting his head right. I never liked the CB pick, we had Thomas Jones at that point. Why did you have to remind me of Curtis Enis???? How about the RB that blamed weed smoking for his fumbles while playing for the Bears???? -

He had those removed because it was too much for one guy to do. -

Like I said Im not saying Holmgren is the best option, just better than Ted. But I want him in the president role, not the GM role. I want him or someone like him to hire a GM to do the drafting and personnel moves. I want the president to set up the entire structure of the football operations from the top down. It we could base the structure like GB. Mark Murphy is the president. Ted Thompson is the GM who handles all personnel moves. Holmgren being hired as the president wouldn't be in charge of drafting or personnel moves. -

Trent Richardson was a beast in college, the Browns were able to trade him for a 1st or 2nd and year or 2 later, still getting value back for him. So he is not the only guy to think he was good. -

If Ted is not being replaced then a high profile HC is a must. -

Mike Holmgren is a 1000% better than Ted Phillips. End of story. Not saying Holmgren would be the best option out there but better than Ted. I will be happy with anyone that has been apart of a winning franchise that has seen first hand how it is suppose to be run. IT's going to take time once a real football guy is in charge. I hope George has a plan in place right now, I hope he is reaching out to people right now. I hope he makes changes the day after the regular season is over, at least get Ted to a different position, fire Emery and staff. If he thinks Holmgren is the right guy great, go get him. Then let him start the search for the next GM. Set it up so everyone is held accountable. 1. President- if its Holmgren so be it 2. GM- who ever Holmgren hires answers to him 3. Support staff/ scouting staff answers to GM 4. Coaching staff answers to GM Look at the Bears right now, the entire organization is a cluster freak. Big change is needed. Hire a new staff and let them figure out what to do with Cutler. If it is Holmgren as the new President the nice thing is he knows football. Imagine Emery asking Ted Phillips for advice on anything related to the football field. Holmgren has been a position coach, OC, HC and team president, he has done it all. Ted Phillips, what was he before becoming the president??? Director of Fiancé or something like that. -
Im right there with you. If he is gone best of luck, if he is here Ill root for him to be successful. The Bears are poorly coached in all 3 phases of the game. Players committing stupid penalties, communication breakdowns, one DB playing one coverage the others running a different coverage. Fake punt with 10 players. The Bears biggest issue is being poorly managed and coached, Im not as worried about getting Cutler gone as I am more worried about getting Ted, Phil and Coaching staff out of here.

Almost looked happy or weight has been lifted off his shoulders.
-
Forgot to include that the number goes down if they are rehired. Good point. It surprises me that some still say they are cheap.
-
If the Bears fire emery and staff it will cost them 15 million. If they are not able to trade Cutler it will cost them another 15 million if they cut him. It will cost the Bears 30 million dollars to clean house. If they clean house no one can blame them for being cheap(I stopped blaming them for being cheap awhile ago but some still do). That also doesn't even take into consideration on how much they will be paying the new staff.

I agree. Couple of points 1. We are horrible on D= nothing to do with Jay 2. Horrible on SP Teams= nothing to do with Jay 3. Horrible on Offense = Jay has played like shit but so has a lot of guys on the offense, the scheme has sucked, Trestman has failed at changing, he spoke about running more each week and never did it All three phases are controlled by Trestman. Jay Cutler has nothing to do with 2 of the phases. We are a poorly coached team. Jay has proven that he is not a QB that will lead them to victory with when other phases are lacking. I do think that you can win with Jay if the team has talent and well coached. The offense has struggled for many reason, not only Jay.

If you are correct then why would anyone trade for him?

Must Read Article - Why the Marc Trestman Experiment Failed
Chitownhustla replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
With how pissed Urlacher was for not being resigned I would think he would have been a positive influence on the locker room. He would have gotten his farewell tour, Briggs and all of his boys would have been happy. IT would have created a happy locker room. A happy locker room in the first year would have meant Tillman, Jennings, Hester and Briggs would not be questioning what the Bears were going to do with them as much. If the Bears treat Urlacher in this manner the rest of the guys have to be asking how are they going to treat me.. Change for some guys is easy, hard for others. Having Urlacher would have probably kept a lot of key guys in the right frame of mind. To get guys to buy in you need the group to be positive, clearly there were guys that were not positive after the Bears treated Urlacher the right way. Also you could be right, if the Bears had handled the separation better maybe that would have bought some goodwill with some of the older players. -
Just saw this, completely agree with you. I would bet Harbaugh could get a whole lot better out of Cutler and the entire team. If the players do not respect Trestman the real problem goes a lot deeper than Cutler. With saying that I not saying Cutler should not be playing better. If Cutler wasn't being paid 22 million dollars this year it wouldn't seem so freakin bad.

I really want to have a new President and GM and Coaching staff in place before any personnel moves are made. Who knows who will be fired. My Wish list 1. Ted Phillips 2. Phil emery 3. Coaching staff Did any of you guys know that Emery kept a bunch of scouting guys from the JA era. The same scouts that worked for JA are still on staff. I heard this on the radio today, I would have thought Emery would have hired his own guys. If Ted is going to stay on as the President then I want the new GM to make all decisions on personnel. My biggest want is for the Bears to be run by the right people. After that if Cutler stays or is traded I really don't care. The Bears short term and long term success depends on getting the right people in place. Who knows maybe the right fix is only getting the coaching staff in place, maybe a different staff could win with the guys we have and some additions.

First big mistake was not dealing with Urlacher correct. Does that go on Emery or Trestman, either way they should have dealt with it better. Lets say Urlacher would not have been as productive last years years past, a less productive Urlacher would have been most likely been as productive as his replacements and would have given the new coaches a leader bridge the changeover. A happy Urlacher would have made Tillman and Briggs happy, instead of negative these guys would have been positive. I think Emery and Trestman learned from this and that's why they offered Tillman 3.5 million to come back. If they could offer Tillman 3.5 why not Urlacher.
