  1. Its will be his 4th yr at 7 mil but they have to pick up his 5th yr option which would be 25 mil. So technically they have him for 2 more yrs if he is playing well and could still draft a prospect ( McCarthy, Nix , Penix, Daniels and bring him along for 2 years. QB is the hardest position to fill in the NFL There is not 32 good QBs in this league so if we have a top 15 QB and also draft a prospect , we could solidify that spot with Fields, (?) and Bagent. With better coaching and a better roster, we could finally have a continued winner for many years to come. Poles may think Williams or Maye is special and blow this concept out of the water but having several QB options is not a terrible idea. Farve and Rodgers were on the same team for several years and the result was a multi year winning team. As much as I hate to use the Packers as an example but they had winning records 11 times out of the last 14 years and those were years the QBs had injuries. They were in the playoffs 11 times.
  2. No shit, I think we get a top 3 pick and also a top 10. Ideally the first pick. NE, Giants ,Wash, or even Az may be desperate for a QB. I think Poles will set this franchise up with another miracle type trade. Chargers have a potential great QB and they are losers with a bad coach and shaky roster. To be fair they have a lot of injuries but so did we. Poles came from KC and Cunningham from Philly, both of those teams built the team and then got their QB. Liken Fields to the situation where KC had Alex Smith and as the 3rd QB taken, Mahomes sat for a year. I think he is using the same build plan. It may still be Fields but I think he also brings in a QB prospect to fall back on if Fields fails. We are one offseason from having the rebuild almost complete. He may think somebody is the real deal and draft him #1, he set himself up to make that choice in the next yr. Had we had better coaching and execution, we could be talking about a 5-6 record and would be having a different conversation. I think he has to win next year to keep his job, so does drafting a rookie guarantee that? Not hardly , so I think he gets a better coach and adds to the roster then keeps Field and a QB prospect. Mahomes was the 3rd QB taken in his draft, Hurts was pick 53 the year he came out. I think he doubles down and hedges his bet on the right QB.
  3. Im just a fan but when you watch former QBs , they make sense in their breakdowns. I agree on all your points. I actually wouldnt mind drafting MHJ and Bowers but think one of the 2 first round picks will be a 3T or edge. I think Braxton Jones is progressing enough to not draft a OT with the early picks but we definitely need an upgrade with depth. I do think Mooney may have some injury restricting his play. He had a few good years to just be bad for no reason at all. I think they bring him back on a cheap deal, especially if we keep Fields. I think the Oline being healthier will allow Fields to play better but he is on a 7 game report card. He past the first game. This will be the last time we pick that high unless Poles does another miracle trade and gets another first rounder next year. So he will consider drafting a QB high but as he breaks everything down , the best option may bring Fields back. Daniels said in the interview on the SCORE that adding a QB still would be an option with Fields staying with the NFL injury history this year. Bagent will end up being a good backup but (IMO) will never be a star in the league so bring in a Nix, Penix, Daniels , McCarthy and do a Rodgers type situation where he sits for a few years. Fields has shown to be tough but his style will have him miss some games every year. Williams and Maye are suppose to be the next great thing but are they? Poles will make that decision and I trust him him to make the right choice whatever it is.
  4. I don't like him as a HC, I said as a DC. His performance as a DC in Indy got him 3 interviews for a HC job. I don't like his inconsistent decisions. Poles came in with a complete rebuild and gutted the team . They were competitive with a lousy roster last year but didn't win. I don't like that they started slow because of a to easy training camp but that is more to do NFL rules, several teams started slow. Since he took over the defense they have gotten better and now Poles got him an edge player that should allow for better performances in the future. He doesn't handle media very well, playing your top defensive player only 63% of the time is dumb but that is consistent with his past history. I don't want him back anymore than you do and thought his decisions to be conservative was worth being fired because of the game. I think inconsistent play calling is a large problem and that job was given to Getsy . When he's fired he will get another DC job because of his past history, not because of the last 4 minutes of the game. Let me be clear I said DC not HC. The difference between me and you is you look at the negative side of everything. When Fields went 16 throws in a row and 335 yards with 4_TDs against Denver , your comments were he holds the ball to long and was against the worst defense in the league. I would think you would want Fields to play well all the time so if Poles decides to move on from him it would get us a higher draft pick in return in a trade. I think Flus's fate is already sealed but if Poles analyzing of the QBs in this draft decides there isn't any sure things , he may choose to bring him back and improve the team around him. With the right coaching he can be successful as a NFL QB. ( see Ravens). There is no Mahomes in this draft and Justin will never be that kind of QB. A new coach will also have input to who is QB is but Poles is in the position to get who he thinks will end up being our franchise QB , Williams, Maye, McCarthy, Daniels or even Fields. I trust his judgement. He won't care what we think.
  5. I said he was a good DC, for some reason you havent been watching the defense the last 5 weeks, now if your idea of a good DC is to never make mistakes then you arent watching the NFL. Since he took over calling the defense it has improved, now if your whole basis of your comment was the last 4 minutes, that was bad but you dont judge coaches on small inserts in a game. He got his HC job because of the defense he coached in Indy ( larger sample size). We were playing the fifth best O in the league in their house and held them to 14 points for 56 minute. For this defense that was a good showing. The great JJ and Jackson blew the coverage on the TD to Williams. Had Getsy made the right choices , the Lions would have never had enough time left for their 2 drives, its still a team game. Fields probably had his best game of season , not by stats, but because of he decision making on his pass attempts. The TD pass to Moore , he climbed the pocket and instead of running ; threw a perfect pass to DJ. Another play he had a roll out and stop short of the line and hit a side throw to Kmet for a first down, Mahomes does that all the time. On that pass to Tyler Scott he threw a perfect pass and Scott slowed down. The things you were complaining about Fields has showed better decisions in this game. If he plays this well for the next 6 games , Poles may bring him back. Listen to several former QBs that does reviews on the SCORE and they all praised him. we are just fans and have our opinion and no matter what we want ,Poles will choose his best option at QB. If he hires new coaches they will have input into who plays QB. Williams and Maye may be his choice but I have watched 5 games of Williams and 3 of Maye. They dont look like special QBs to me. I watched one game on Jayden Daniels and he played well. Poles is in on a complete analyze and I will trust him to make the right decision. Harbaugh is using Lamar Jackson in a similar way, his last 3 games he had 27 rushing attempts . Apparently Harbaugh doesnt have a problem paying a QB 52 mil a year that has running skills also. One of the better coaches in the league.

Toub has interviewed for HC jobs before and never got one. I wonder why.
  7. I want new coaches but if they win 3-4 games that may not happen. Flus was a good DC but never had to carry the load of scrutiny threw a terrible losing steak. I would love him to just be the DC but to far down the rode of loses to make him look good again. The most important thing is does the team ball out for him and I dont think they have quit on him. If he blows games lie Sunday and that may not be the case.
  8. The key will be , how will the coaches adapt to the game and not make the wrong decisions.
  9. The point is after dominating the Lions for 55 minutes, we now can beat anyone but how will we beat ourselves.

Its called trying to be funny. The irony is we went for a offensive minded HC and it didnt work out, now after a defensive coach, we want a offensive minded coach again. Its just about getting the right coach.
  11. That's why Flus is flawed, he sticks to much for process and not enough to using his talent properly.
  12. It reminded me of any Bear game I watched.

Ben Johnson doesn't have any head coaching experience but the OC for KC has. Just saying
  14. Actually that sucks , i have on 2 FF teams.
  15. If Fields has 7 games to prove himself, he gets a B+ for this game. This team dominated a top 3 team in the National conference for 55 minutes in their house and better coaching would have sealed a win instead of a historic loss. +1 if you're keeping score.
  16. I think its as simple of Whitehair no longer practices hiking with Feeney now healthy and the concept of both Jenkins and Davis having injuries this year. To back them up.
  17. I wish there was someone they could turn over the team to but that assistant coach is not on the team. This was the type of game you get fired for. Hightower, with Hoke as DC and Janocko as OC ? Just dont see that happening but it needs to happen.
  18. The purpose of this season was to see if Fields in the man and yet at the end of the game, (series before the last) they hand off into a filled box instead of giving the ball to Fields and see if he is the man. In that series, he had a perfect pass that Scott failed to finish but we should have never been it that position. At the end of games you have to put the ball in the hands of your best players, Fields, DJ or Kmet, not Herbert and Scott. Its the coaches.
  19. As a losing team , the high draft picks are the light at the tunnel but I would rather have some more wins on the schedule than perpetual losing.
  20. Yes its a get fired type of loss for Flus. Agree, Jackson will be gone( another hole to fill in the draft) but as much as your over paid for Edmunds, he's not a bad player. If the argument is Roquan or Edmunds, you have to figure in Edwards , who is literally playing better than Roquan. Nate Davis is not a bad player, his off field problems affected his start to the season that now playing again. is Jenkins better, yes but he still has injury concerns that is not past him yet. I want to see what Poles is building , not 1 and a half yrs into the rebuild but after yr 3 of which he stated when he started. I dont agree with everything he's done but we just dominated a good team in their house for 55 minutes. Now we just have to learn to finish games.
  21. I agree with most of what you said but I think Poles is doing a good job. Yes he has made mistakes, the biggest one is choosing Flus or probably Getsy. We dominated a good team yesterday until 5:06 left in the game. The coaches let us down. On the TD pass to St Brown, our 2 vets in the cover 2 blew the coverage. JJ and Jackson. I think they will both be gone next year. You have to finish games. If Campbell was coaching that team, we would have easily won that game.
  22. This team isn't there yet. They showed they can dominate a good team and then tripped over themselves. I never heard anybody say we could beat Detroit so the fact they were this close to smacking them is progress. Better coaching could have sealed the game and they screwed it up. Firing them now with no one in place to take over that's in the room would not work. Is Jeff Saturday working right now ? Fields played well but the play calling let him down. Is he THE QB? Put the ball in his hands instead of 2 running plays into a 9 man box and you may find out.
  23. This is what losing teams do. Better coaching would have won this game. I think Flus lost his job today when you run 2 running plays and not put the ball in Justin's hands was ridiculous .
