They all so have a mange the cap section. I think to do a complete GM do over you have to subscribe to it of which i may do for the fun of being dumb.

Thiss is the kind of draft I wpild like to see us get. I prefer McCarthy to Penix

I attempted to do this but it doesnt show our cap space projected, i dont get it. Adam?

Here is a link to Fanspeak where you can be the Bears GM, I'll post on here after I try it out. https://fanspeak.com/mtc/

When Poles got the job, he mentioned all those positions and also CB. That is why I think he will resign JJ. The defensive backfield is becoming one of our strengths and the a key question will be what he does with Jackson in this off-season.
-
If Fields looks bad in the last 7 games , I do think Poles drafts a QB but not sure it's with our first pick. That is the draft capital we need to set our franchise up for the next 5 years. Since Braxton Jones is back , he is trending to being our long term solution at LT. I think we definitely need to add a swing OT type for our depth issues. We absolutely have to add a OC , 3T, another edge, FS. He can do that if he trades our top pick. There's enough QB prospects in this draft that someone out of the first round could be good. I don't think our top pick will be a QB. I do want MHJ but that might not work out that way. Poles legacy will be set in this off-season, for good or bad.

I agree we need a QB that is capable of throwing 300 yds every game but the teams that win SBs usually can run the ball and play D. Its never just one reason.
-
QBs picked high are a crap shoot, if we drafted Mahomes and he came to Chicago , I somehow feel he wouldnt be as good as he is in KC. KC had a team already built with a great coach so he blossomed. I think Poles will make the right decision at the time he needs to. Personally if Fields looks decent, and we add the right components and get a good coach, it may have been the right choice. Like you said, its our best scenario than starting over with a rookie QB.

I went back and watched tape on Justin at OSU and then watch tape on C. Williams, there are some similarities there. My point is its not just drafting a QB, its takes development and a team built around him. Poles never drafted Justin , so he owes him nothing. Poles did pick up Bagent and that looks like a good find. I get you dont think Fields can become a good QB and I think we will find out in the next 7 games. He doesnt have to throw for 300 yds and 3 TDs every game to be THAT QB , Poles will figure it out and i trust him. If he plays well and we win more than we lose that could be enough for Poles. We just dont know. I think Grizzys point is with a new QB, even a good one, it will continue the rebuild mold. I think Poles has to start winning next year to keep his job and there is no guarantee with the top 2. I personally think Fields may thrive here with the right OC and MHJ, a new center, 3T and some more depth on the OL and DL but he has to have more good games than bad in the next 7 to show that.

That sounds realistic, next week will give us lots of answers as far as the QB and how good the defense is. If we go 8-9 , Flus won't be getting fired and chances are we won't be drafting a QB early. Seems 7-10 more realistic unless our defense is real. It's interesting as we try to join modern football, what wins for us is running the ball and stopping the run.
-
7 games will tell us who our QB will be next year and who the coach will be. We simply have to wait until the end of the year and the answers will be delivered to us. Carolina will be at least top 3, that nets us MHJ at the least.

Week 10 Official Game Thread - TNF - CAR @ CHI (Loser Bowl 2023)

I think the coaching staff told him whatever he does in the game ,don't throw any interceptions. That's why he regressed. It just shows how much experience he still needs. In a few years he may develop in to a good QB but he has a long way to go. -
He got offered the Minnesota job and went back to Michigan with more money. He's king there, I think he only leaves if he wins the college tournament. Not sure the Bears offer him a kings ransom to be their coach or Poles turns player control over to JH.
-
I think it's clear every coach and every player is on notice. I admire Flus for keeping a team together while going 6-21 but he's not looked good on many occasions. It's his first time as a HC and I think he gets a learning curve in Poles eyes. The defense has gotten better since he took over. I think that's one of reasons Poles got Sweat, so he can get a good read on Flus. Getsy has been up and down. I think the next 8 weeks will answer the coaching questions and who our QB will be. I can't expect 1 and a 1/2 years into a rebuild is every new regimes time stamp. If we go 4-3 or 5-2, I think the gang will be back. If we only win 1-2 , there will be new coaches and a new QB.

Week 10 Official Game Thread - TNF - CAR @ CHI (Loser Bowl 2023)
Stinger226 replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
We had 20 pressures tonight, 3 sacks, defense gave up 6 points. Yes it was a bad team but we have a lot of bad teams on our schedule. Detroit is next and we will see how the defense plays. I cant wait for Fields to come back and try to add some juice to this offense. We had 133 yards rushing and need to get over 150 every game to help the offense. Bagent looked worst to me in this game, played uptight, probably because of his interception totals. -

Score 31-10 Bears -
I think he has bad traits that is hard to change. When you put him in the position to just react instead of think , he does better. Roll outs that only have a couple of reads, or RPOs, run or pass. I think you pound the ball throw in some play action and you would then have a successful QB.
-
I think that may be our best option by having more choices. We will have 7 games left (probable) to see Justin prove himself. let's say he has several good games and a few duds. So we still know if his arrow is pointing up or will fail? This injury kind of screwed up his evaluation. Bring in another QB, let Bagent develop and still let Justin play it out. He will have some trade value when ever you decide to release him or pay him.
-
Yes of course, Carolina probably wish they took Stroud instead of Young. If Poles figures it out, cool just saying don't reach because we have a high pick. Young may end up being good, it takes time to figure it out. Just like Fields, he has the rest of the year to prove himself. Seems like everyone is just assuming he will fall.
-
At the beginning of the year Williams was generational, now he's a question mark. I will trust Poles to do the right thing, if its draft a franchise QB, I wont complain a bit. Its just that's just a crap shoot . There is a no brainer with Harrison, Bowers, a couple of OTs. I dont think any edge players are as as good as Anderson last yr or Carter. Go with what we can see, not guess at.

Whenever I get depressed watching the Bears, I watch this. Plus, I bet 20 on the 1st TD in the game, 35-1 odds. I was in Cabo San Lucas . It cant better than that and then they lost the game. I at least had a moment. https://youtu.be/rGtxZlQwxNQ?si=6mjqVyt8zSdhhLaR

Who is the defensive MVP and offensive MVP right now? Has to be DJ Moore because he is the only offensive players defenses account for. For defense either JJ or Edwards. Hopefully it ends up being Sweat by the end of the year.
-
If we dont have the top pick it lowers our trade capital. 2 nd spot may have some value but just not the same. The only control we have is to beat Carolina and hope for the best. I suspect we win some games but will still remain in the top ten. The key to the draft is add as many blue chip players as possible , not draft a top 2 QB. There are other QB prospects that will have have future upside. Poles has to win next year or his job will be in crisis. I dont think a rookie does that for him., between Fields and Bagent they have next year covered. Draft a QB later in the draft and get new coaches that design our offensive to fit Fields or Bagent . If at end of next year we have 2 successful QBs and a prospect on the horizon, we will have choices going forward. Players and coaches first and then make QB decisions. How much would Fields be worth if he has an successful finish to this year and good 2024 OR take us to a SB?
