  1. Is it fair to say I like being an optimist compared to actual thinking we could be 0-17. You say maybe 5 wins and right now I think 8-9 is still possible. I sleep well at night, how are you sleeping these days?
  2. Our choices right now are : let Fields play it out until the bye week and if he shows no progress ,play Bagent and see what he has ( see Prudy) or draft our QB next year. Anyway it goes we have the draft capital to have a win. YR 2 in a rebuild.
  3. I need to keep remembering that we have 2 1st round picks if Fields fails, there is still time. As Adam said we have 17 games to prove himself (not two). Caleb Williams is suppose to be the best QB since Burrow came out. Projected 2 of the worst teams in the league already have their franchise QBs , Houston and Indy . We have Panthers pick. AZ paid Murray big money (are they going to bail?) and TB and Tenn are 2-0. We have a shot. Last year the Lions were 1-6 at the beginning of the yr before they went on a 8-2 run. When does it happen to us? We only have 4 games against playoff teams in 15 more games and 2 are against the Vikings. The season is not quite lost yet.
  4. Reflecting on the game , yesterday I was ready to bail on Justin Fields and listen to Olin Kruetz this morning on the SCORE. He said the team has a bunch of young players that will get better in time. He predicted this team to be around 500% not the 10 -12 win team I wanted. There is still time. The game come down to a handful of plays that changed the game example: Had Brisker held on to that int and had a pick 6, how would the game had changed after? Had Fields made the DJ Moore read instead of the the pick 6? For the play calling for Fields, they are trying to grow him as a QB instead of just open the box and go back to the QB on the run we seen last year in that 5 game run. The growth of the OL after the changes they made needs some time. They were set with one rookie, Davis, Whitehair, at OC, Jenkins at LG and a developing LT. What we have now Is Davis and Jenkins out and Whitehair at LG. He said that takes a few games to get it together. Forget the 3rd year for Fields, he is basically in his second yr with this regime. He stated that this defense is predicated on the 3T and the two they drafted to play there, Dexter and Pickens are rookies, they will get better. They literally had 3 of the 5 starters in the defensive backfield went out early in the game. Its a work in progress , not instant mash potatoes. Yannick had a sack that ended up being a pressure that turned into a big play for TB, had he held on, how would that have changed the game? In the preseason, Poles said this is a 3-4 year rebuild and still has work to do, we are in the second yr. Fields still has growth to do and everything will get better. We are only 2 games into the season . What I got wrong was my expectations not the actual state of the incomplete roster. Its about patience of which I dont have, this team will look better by midseason. As Ol;in said 7-9 wins by the end of the year will be progress. Here is some teams that made the playoffs last year. KC 1-1, and not looked good. Bengals 0-2 and not playing well. Chargers 0-2 in close games Det 1-1 and christened the next SB contender on the horizon. Patriot's 0-2, always the contender. Bills 1-1 SB bound? Playoff team Vikings 0-2 Playoff Giants that was blown out for 6 quarters until its last 2 quarters 1-1. We are not alone as NFL fans of a team with high expectations. Tidbits: Claypool showed up, DJ Moore 6- 106 and Fields is on pace for over 3600 yards on passing. It was 20-17 until the pick six, we didnt get blown out. I need to chill out, it will get better. Once I sit on a beach again, I will be smiling. I have to remember we have 2 1st round picks if Fields fails, all is not lost.
  5. For everyone that had doubts about Field's, this is the first time since we drafted him that I think he may not be the one. No rollouts, no runs , we havbe turned him into a backup QB.
  6. wow, he was never figured much in a passing game where Herbert and Johnson are.
  7. I hope it's not his wife or children, and all; the people giving him crap because of his practice time. I have to look back and see if i said anything stupid. I USUALLY WAIT TO FIND OUT DETAILS BEFORE i SAY SOMETHING STUPID.
  8. It just came out today that he had a death in his family and the preseason issues was someone in his family had been sick. That person just died today. Kinda hard to criticize him when a close family member had issues.
  9. As AZ said we will see a lot of Godwin in the slot.
  10. I think they try to establish the run and a few designated runs by Fields to set up play action. Open the passing game more. I think they have outside runs to try get fatigue on Bucs defense. Listen to Olin on the SCORE and he said they should run the ball over the Davis-Wright side and make Vela chase them.
  11. I find it interesting that Alan Williams wont be traveling to Tampa and Flus will be calling the defensive plays. I seen it posted on several posters on X, I guess something personal is going on, its not a demotion.
  12. After 8 games, the cream of the crop will surface. One game just isn't enough input to make a fair assessment. If it was Chiefs, Bengals and Buffalo are done. They are not.
  13. You will absolutely see effort this week. I think we will be more physical than TB . They will establish the run and some design runs by Fields. Play action, BOOM
  14. Mayfield isnt a good QB. He will make some plays but have to take away the slants and middle of the field . He will turn the ball over. If 4 aint getting there blitz.
  15. For anyone on X (twitter) there is a poster @ImBearingDown has great content. He takes every snap for Bears players and also did Jalen Carter + Paris Johnson for comparisons.
  16. A terrible loss to GB has got the Bear community in an insane state of blame. Its a composite of many things. Claypool seems like a focal point but many played bad that day. I think the team was still in a preseason mold that were not ready to play. That is on the coaches. They had a conservative game plan and didnt take advantage of Fields strengths Several players didnt play well, we didnt lose because of Claypool's effort. We had good effort in the first half with a 10-6 score but some scheme breakdowns in the 3rd quarter doomed us. I think we didnt make adjustments in the second half and GB did. The end of the game had fatigue set in and mental breakdowns. There are always every year a few games that are team losses. Players, coaches, scheme are all to blame. I think the first drive where we failed to make a 4th down got us in a snowball that ended in a bad loss. Sometimes you just have to forget a game and look forward to the next game for both players and fans. We were never going 17-0 , its time to move on.
  17. LAST YEAR WE BEAT SF AND HAD HIGH EXPECTATIONS. (FINISHED 3-14) THIS YEAR BIG DISAPPOINT (0-1) THE FIRST GAME DOESNT DICTATE A SEASON.
  18. I think the coaches are scheming like they don't trust him ( or maybe the OL) and not attack down field..
  19. Here's another interesting observation

    Poles Redux

I would definitely take your scenario but easier to look at now than at the time of those drafts. The year Lucas was drafted ,Jones was the highest rated rookie OT in the class on PFF. Made all rookie and was gotten 2 rounds later. He had Jenkins and Borom already there so maybe he didnt have every thing sorted out yet and was waiting for Braxton . As for Claypool , it definity looks like a bad deal but is still is just the first game of the year.

    Poles Redux

The later most likely but a little early to judge. Cherry picking specific players for a point is a little unfair at this stage. Even if Claypool and Jones is a bust , if Wright and Dexter turn out to be above average players, those were good picks. Rice still has to prove himself and Carter still could end up being a problem. To early for an evaluation.
  22. I agree with Davis was bad but Whitehair was worse. both had 5 pressures but Davis didnt give up a sack
  23. Seen some people saying J Carter played killer minutes in Philly, he had 1 T and 1 sack. put that to rest going to have to recant on the Carter remark, he also had 6 pressures
  24. I dont think we are as bad we looked yesterday but have a lot of work to do. here is PFF grades for the OL: per PFF. the Bears' O-line was ... not good: Nate Davis -- 9 pressures (pass-block grade of 7.2) Lucas Patrick - 5 pressures Cody Whitehair - 5 pressures, 1 sack, 1 hit Darnell Wright - 5 pressures Braxton Jones -- 1 pressure (grade of 90.4)
