Here's a good tape on Fields. PHX probably shouldnt watch it , you wont like it.
-
He played bad last year but glad he got his act together this year. He's only playing because the starter got hurt . Need more games to see him.

To follow your lead, Billings is playing the NT spot well, are Dexter and Pickens better DE fits in a 3-4 scheme? Sewell actually is a better edge player in a 3-4 than SLB. Are we a Jared Verse away from a 3-4 defense already built? I doubt that logic but maybe Poles is evaluating a bad cover 2 defense and dont like what he's seeing.

Agree with that. How would this offense look wit 12 set of Kmet, Bowers , DJ and Mooney . I'll live with that.

I get the clean the house talk but truth is, no matter what happens, Poles gets next year to right the ship. He has made some mistakes but has us in a good draft position and cap space. This probably the first time I have ever seen a true rebuild with the Bears. In the past we always had a decent roster so it was ( if we just do this) we would be winning again. That never worked. Sadly this is what it looks like to be bad with developing players. The reason Flus wont be fired in season is there is no one in house capable of taking over. I think one of the main problems yesterday was bad play calls at critical times. Flus lets Gesty run the offense. Not sure who was announcing but he was spot on about running plays with Justin facing the defense. Example: On the fumble play , he turned his back and when he turned around a rusher was hitting him, didnt even have time to move his arm forward for a missed pass. Then in the 4th and 1, going for it in the shotgun was ridiculous. Let a big fast QB go over Nate Davis and gain a 1/2 yard. I had no problem with going for it, it would ice a game that 3 points wouldnt have been enough with Wilson playing well and almost 3 minutes left. We have young players that are arguably improving and its about time injured players are coming back soon. So we are getting closer to winning some games. If Fields is actually getting better we still have a chance to win 5-6 games. When they say we aren't far away , they are correct. If Jenkins ( our best) OL is back and Johnson, Jackson and Gordon is set to come back after the the 10 day mini bye , we will play a lot better.

Never paid attention to that, I was to busy betting on the bears to cover.

Losing sucks but actually had positives today. Justin DJ ,Mooney, and Kmet showed up today. Had 171 yds rushing today. OL played well

I hate to do this but Johnson comparison already in the NFL is probably David Montgomery with better vision. He doesn't have the speed of the better backs in the league.

This is a critical game for all of the above . I think we have a better roster than last year, and as Mongo said they havent got it together because of injuries. Im probably the worst poster on here for being to optimistic but that's just the way I roll. I know sometimes its not realistic but its just a better way for me to be a fan of anything. I suggested 11 wins, 8-9 would have been more realitic. Now that seems a reach. We actually have 4 games we can get well but we HAVE TO SEE IT START THIS WEEK, IF NOT A WIN AT LEAST DOWN TO THE WIRE LOSS WOULD BE ACCETABLE.

Im not sure you can call these all bad choices this early in the year. Edmunds has not been bad but more was expected. Davis had extreme personal issues that has not allowed him to be up to speed. Jones in a second year has not stood out but that is what vets make in a second contract. Every signing is not going to be the bargain bin signing. Poles said he was going to build thru the draft but you have to sign some vets in a rebuild. Yannick is an emergency signing late that is just getting up to speed. History says he will be okay. Walker performs best as a second pass rusher and still has time to get to his value as a acquisition. The key to Poles signing free agents is that he doesnt sign long term cap problem vets. the only one that falls in that category right now is Edmunds and he is not a bust. What Poles has done is acquire draft capital and a great cap situation going into his 2nd year of a rebuild, he should be allowed to get to the third year for that alone. Yes he has 2 glaring mistakes so far, Claypool and V Jones, is there any Im missing?

If they want to make a statement they need to run the ball well and that is a lot of RJ and Herbert.
-
Actually both can be true at the same time.

Everything is contributing to being bad, Fields, coaching, OL, WRs, injuries, and a bad defense. If all of them improve 20% we might be in ball games instead of getting blown out. In the next 4 games we need to go 3-1 or 4-0, I dont think 2-2 does us any good on our long range goals.
-
I wonder if anyone has ever had 2 top 5 picks before? We are not in tank mold yet but how we play going into the next 4 games will determine that.
-
Here is Darnell Wright in every pass play at KC He gave up 1 sack and played well. He is going to be an all rookie and future pro bowler. He was not a mistake being our first pick.

You cant fill every weakness in two drafts , so had we picked a different player, we would still have weaknesses somewhere else. JMS is starting in NY but he's not getting rave reviews but I do expect him to be good in the future. I find it unfair to look back at a draft and say we should have picked that person 2 games into a season. We have to let it play out to give a fair evaluation.

On draft day you may get someone that fails to move up to a QB that's willing to give you a mid round pick to have a shot at a new body in the QB room. What would the Jets do right now if their choice is Wilson or Field's that they create a plan to use him to workout for a year. I thunk someone may take a chance.
