Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?
Agree with that, there's 2 edges taken after that pick, centers still available, higher rated TEs.

My Draft addiction (CW Edition)
I think Legette is going to be one of the top 5 WRs out of this class. Irving is the type of back we don't have . All our needs would be met in this draft, so the question is what starters are we picking up in free agency?

IMO keeping Fields and getting a draft haul is more desirable than a 50/50 potential bust at # 1. I think we can still draft a QB with a lower pick and still satisfy both sided of the fence. All options could turn out well or bust , it's about the risks that Poles takes to win this year.

Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?
The 5th year option is 23 mil , two years of Justin cost 15.5 mil a year, is cheap for a starting QB in the League. Technically you could tag him for a third year at below market cost. Next year I expect us to a be winning team, would that happen if we draft Williams? Rarely do rookies have the Stroud year, somewhere between Young and Stroud. Williams was thrown into the ( generational ring) because of his great junior year. This year he regressed from that tag but had a good college year. So did MT, Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, point being, it's about how they translate to the NFL. Williams is not guaranteed, so is Justin getting better this year, not either but Poles knows what he has with Justin who is being paid 8.3 mil this year. No matter where he takes a QB , he has Justin one more year. Williams is a character issue away being being Jalen Carter of which Poles passed on. No matter what your opinion of QBs , Poles will decide who gives him the best chance to win.

Nice story, Williams has a high ceiling for a QB prospect and in Evan's eyes he can't miss. Is he a former scout? Curious of his background. Nevermind, I seen his bio, college senior at NCC.

The scenario is some team is about to make Poles a famous man in the GM world with two years of huge paydays that keeps the cycle going a few more years. That would probably mean he's rolling one more year with Justin or taking a QB not in the first few picks. Huge decision will be coming down in April, any of his choices has risks, I will suspect whatever he thinks gives him the best chance to win in his opinion.

If Fields was set to make big money, this wouldn't even be a conversation but he's two years away from getting offered 40 plus million.

PFF keeps track of pressure rates, he was second only behind Geno Smith this year. First in 2022. A pressure is when a QB has less than 2.2 seconds to throw in dropping back . Here's a video from Swifty that has a nerdy guy on that breaks down statistics.

That video gives insight into how well he does with competent WRs compared to lesser talent. The key is drop rate. Moore and Kmet were less than, 02%,_the rest were below league average. Plus add in his loss of confidence when throwing to them. Facts changes narratives but people ignore them unless it states something they want to hear.

Listening to a lot of podcasts today and the same media that condemn Justin, turns around and are saying that they think we can get a first if we trade him. Does that make sense to anybody? He's good enough to get a one but he can't stay here.

As we travel down the road will get to see what holes he plugs in FAgency. Then it will be more obvious what he will do in the draft. If he drafts Williams and Odunze , we will have no second round pick, limits improving the OL and edge. Now if he trades Fields for a second that could get us a DE or center/guard. If he trades down easily fills all our needs and still could get us a QB to develop. It's never just one or the other, both are in play. Very incredibly few months.

If we don't see the OL and weapons improve, Williams will more likely have a Bryce Young season than Stroud. We all said the OL is playing better that was more run blocking than pass blocking. The free agent period is very important and will lend to clues in the draft. The defense is almost done, one more DL performer and we're top 5. We need to add a top OC, maybe get lucky and draft Johnson but also a vet that can play both Center and Guard. Add at least a swing T with potential to start and another potential guard starter from the draft. Jenkins has constant injury issues and Davis should be back to normal this year but he will only be here one more year. Depth is also important. Then another weapon early in the draft.

Seen where last year, Fields was second in the league with pressure rate. 2022 he was first. No QB is going play well with constant pressure. I think this year he finally finishes building the OL, gets us one more weapon and a edge. That will be his theme this off-season.

That's fair, both sides view their argument bigger. Truth is it's very divided.

Heard Dave Wannsted on the SCORE and he suggested Tyrek Stevenson play the FS spot and slide Terrell Smith into the other CB spot. Backups Jaylon Jones and Blackwell play well in spot starts. Worth thinking about. If they can get a competent vet FS at a reasonable price, you won't need to do that.

Correct, having Brady allowed them to do that.

What helps teams win Super Bowls
How could all of those holding calls not get called? I get there not calling everyone but that's absurd in such an important game.

If I remember correctly didn't NE, always keep moving back in the draft and got multiple picks in 2, 3, and 4th rounds and when someone earned a big contract, would trade him and keep the cycle going forward with lots of picks? I think Poles is in the position to do the same with multi high picks in the future. A team can handle several players with big contracts but can't handle lots. EJAC is a perfect example that should have been moved on from instead of paying big money to. His best years were before he was paid. He may view a better value at taking a JJ McCarthy later in the first round by moving back from picks one and nine. Load up and allow McCarthy to develop a year or two. Poles passed on Carter because of character issues, he nay choose to move on from Williams for similar reasons. The medical and personal interviews are huge for Williams getting drafted at one, it's the key to this complete off-season.

Actually there is no consensus, you need to read more . Majority is not the same as 100%. As far as Justin he has a lot of flaws but sucked is a term you use for Nathan Peterman, you're bias is showing.- The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!
Agree with all of that. Last year everyone thought we would take Carter when he fell to nine, yet he took a OL building block because of character questions on Carter. The same thing could happen this year if Williams has some issues. Poles thinks he can win with Justin over a QB prospect that needs to be developed , so option 3 may be into play. We get to see the free agency period in a few weeks so the QB question will get put to rest for awhile, thank- The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!
