Dan Campbell was 3-13-1 in 2021 and went 1-6 coming out of the gate last year. I dont remember, did Lions fans call for blood at that time? They had more draft capital because they were so bad for a long time. The lions are now considered a up and coming playoff contender. I think I can say safely that every situation is different . Poles came here with the worst roster in the league and a terrible cap space . We didnt have a first round pick and had serval over paid vets on the team. Unfortunately when you're losing everyone gets hammered and everyone deserves some blame for a poor record . I am sticking up for Poles at this time because he never promised a rose garden 19 games into a rebuild. He said 3-4 years to completely change the roster. It is clear to see Flus doesnt have a quality roster yet.. He said he wanted to rebuild the roster thru the draft 2022- Brisker-Blackwell-Gordon-Carter-Gill-Hicks-B Jones-J Jones-V Jones-D Robinson-Sanborn Kramer 2023-Bagent-Dexter-Q Johnson-R Johnson-Pickens-Scott-Sewell- Stevenson-Wright Didn't put anyone on the practice squad on this list. At this point it looks like the Claypool trade and V Jones were mistakes but actually the jury is still out. He hired Flus and whether that works out is still up in the air. There is still lots of questions but Flus has yet to get a stellar amount of talent to work with yet. The key will be if young players get better and we start to win more games. He will get this year to right the ship. Last year a lot of people were worried that we might lose Getsy because of? The jury is still out and clearly has blame . This is something that could be changed in season but I dont think we are there yet.

Good coaches don't call their players out in public, like AZ said you do that in private. A good way to lose your team is call them out to the press. -

I don't remember it was so long ago but were we in both games until TOs turned into points for the other team? It may not, be as bad as the final score showed. Does anyone think we played better in this game than the first? I realize it was still a loss but can you lose and still play a little better? I think so. If we go 0-3 and then go 6-8 or get a lucky 7-7, are we growing as a team? As Adam said Justin is on a pace to get over3600 yards passing and DJ Moore is on pace to be a around a 1000 yard WR. Are we a better team? -

I always say PFF is just a tool to help measure a persons worth. It's like saying 4.4 speed guy is slow and then you watch him outrun a 4.3 guy that is faster. I just watched the slower guy win a run to the end zone. The eyes can speak to. -
Its called compassion, not about the size of your hammer.

He finished last year on a high note playing well the last 5 games and started strong but a broken hand got in the way. Rookies rarely play consistently until playing against NFL players slows down for them . He will be just fine, at least he didnt have a knee or leg injury that would slow his speed down.

See you are an optimist, you said (when Carolina loses).

That's fair for a pessimist.

I rewatched the game and Justin did well with the scripted plays and then was getting pressured or WRs not doing their job going forward. They all get blame. Here is all his dropbacks for those of you with X accounts. https://x.com/GBraggsJr23/status/1703624151645250014?s=20

Its nice to dream that's why I play FF.(so I can pretend I'm smart). X and sports radio today are having Bears doomsday . Poles is in his second year of a 3-4 year rebuild of the worse roster of 2022, plus cap hell. I dont remember him saying we were going to the playoffs or be a SB contender 19 games into a 51 game rebuild. He said this is year 2 of a 3-4 year rebuild and he has more work to do. He didnt lie to us. Yes he will make a few mistakes along the way but will that matter if we end up being a winning team for several years in a row. Experts predicted any where from worse team in the league to 10- 11 wins (me). If we end up with 5-9 wins , will any of that be progress ? A win is if we find out for sure if Justin is that superman or a bust. He has the draft capital to draft a new one. A win is if the new players get better as the year goes on. A win is if DJ Moore, Nate Davis, and Edmunds are the players we thought they were. A win is if we have 6-7-8-9 wins in a season. We are not going 0-17. Its a little premature to fire GM,HC,OC,DC, and Justin Fields. I was doomsday man yesterday but today I stand with more patience. -
For all the good things Shanahan has done ,he has a Claypool incident, it cost us a second, it cost him 3 first round picks. Everyone screws up, its about the endgame. Maybe we fail but maybe we end up being s long standing winning team that is 19 games into a 51 game rebuild. We will see.

You hammer me in Talkbears FF league and then try to present yourself as a nice guy? Im not buying it.
-
Here is a experts take on Fields-game 2.
-
Is it fair to say I like being an optimist compared to actual thinking we could be 0-17. You say maybe 5 wins and right now I think 8-9 is still possible. I sleep well at night, how are you sleeping these days?

Our choices right now are : let Fields play it out until the bye week and if he shows no progress ,play Bagent and see what he has ( see Prudy) or draft our QB next year. Anyway it goes we have the draft capital to have a win. YR 2 in a rebuild. -
I need to keep remembering that we have 2 1st round picks if Fields fails, there is still time. As Adam said we have 17 games to prove himself (not two). Caleb Williams is suppose to be the best QB since Burrow came out. Projected 2 of the worst teams in the league already have their franchise QBs , Houston and Indy . We have Panthers pick. AZ paid Murray big money (are they going to bail?) and TB and Tenn are 2-0. We have a shot. Last year the Lions were 1-6 at the beginning of the yr before they went on a 8-2 run. When does it happen to us? We only have 4 games against playoff teams in 15 more games and 2 are against the Vikings. The season is not quite lost yet.

Reflecting on the game , yesterday I was ready to bail on Justin Fields and listen to Olin Kruetz this morning on the SCORE. He said the team has a bunch of young players that will get better in time. He predicted this team to be around 500% not the 10 -12 win team I wanted. There is still time. The game come down to a handful of plays that changed the game example: Had Brisker held on to that int and had a pick 6, how would the game had changed after? Had Fields made the DJ Moore read instead of the the pick 6? For the play calling for Fields, they are trying to grow him as a QB instead of just open the box and go back to the QB on the run we seen last year in that 5 game run. The growth of the OL after the changes they made needs some time. They were set with one rookie, Davis, Whitehair, at OC, Jenkins at LG and a developing LT. What we have now Is Davis and Jenkins out and Whitehair at LG. He said that takes a few games to get it together. Forget the 3rd year for Fields, he is basically in his second yr with this regime. He stated that this defense is predicated on the 3T and the two they drafted to play there, Dexter and Pickens are rookies, they will get better. They literally had 3 of the 5 starters in the defensive backfield went out early in the game. Its a work in progress , not instant mash potatoes. Yannick had a sack that ended up being a pressure that turned into a big play for TB, had he held on, how would that have changed the game? In the preseason, Poles said this is a 3-4 year rebuild and still has work to do, we are in the second yr. Fields still has growth to do and everything will get better. We are only 2 games into the season . What I got wrong was my expectations not the actual state of the incomplete roster. Its about patience of which I dont have, this team will look better by midseason. As Ol;in said 7-9 wins by the end of the year will be progress. Here is some teams that made the playoffs last year. KC 1-1, and not looked good. Bengals 0-2 and not playing well. Chargers 0-2 in close games Det 1-1 and christened the next SB contender on the horizon. Patriot's 0-2, always the contender. Bills 1-1 SB bound? Playoff team Vikings 0-2 Playoff Giants that was blown out for 6 quarters until its last 2 quarters 1-1. We are not alone as NFL fans of a team with high expectations. Tidbits: Claypool showed up, DJ Moore 6- 106 and Fields is on pace for over 3600 yards on passing. It was 20-17 until the pick six, we didnt get blown out. I need to chill out, it will get better. Once I sit on a beach again, I will be smiling. I have to remember we have 2 1st round picks if Fields fails, all is not lost. -

For everyone that had doubts about Field's, this is the first time since we drafted him that I think he may not be the one. No rollouts, no runs , we havbe turned him into a backup QB. -

It just came out today that he had a death in his family and the preseason issues was someone in his family had been sick. That person just died today. Kinda hard to criticize him when a close family member had issues. -
As AZ said we will see a lot of Godwin in the slot.

I think they try to establish the run and a few designated runs by Fields to set up play action. Open the passing game more. I think they have outside runs to try get fatigue on Bucs defense. Listen to Olin on the SCORE and he said they should run the ball over the Davis-Wright side and make Vela chase them. -
I find it interesting that Alan Williams wont be traveling to Tampa and Flus will be calling the defensive plays. I seen it posted on several posters on X, I guess something personal is going on, its not a demotion.
