After 8 games, the cream of the crop will surface. One game just isn't enough input to make a fair assessment. If it was Chiefs, Bengals and Buffalo are done. They are not.

Mayfield isnt a good QB. He will make some plays but have to take away the slants and middle of the field . He will turn the ball over. If 4 aint getting there blitz. -
For anyone on X (twitter) there is a poster @ImBearingDown has great content. He takes every snap for Bears players and also did Jalen Carter + Paris Johnson for comparisons.

A terrible loss to GB has got the Bear community in an insane state of blame. Its a composite of many things. Claypool seems like a focal point but many played bad that day. I think the team was still in a preseason mold that were not ready to play. That is on the coaches. They had a conservative game plan and didnt take advantage of Fields strengths Several players didnt play well, we didnt lose because of Claypool's effort. We had good effort in the first half with a 10-6 score but some scheme breakdowns in the 3rd quarter doomed us. I think we didnt make adjustments in the second half and GB did. The end of the game had fatigue set in and mental breakdowns. There are always every year a few games that are team losses. Players, coaches, scheme are all to blame. I think the first drive where we failed to make a 4th down got us in a snowball that ended in a bad loss. Sometimes you just have to forget a game and look forward to the next game for both players and fans. We were never going 17-0 , its time to move on.

LAST YEAR WE BEAT SF AND HAD HIGH EXPECTATIONS. (FINISHED 3-14) THIS YEAR BIG DISAPPOINT (0-1) THE FIRST GAME DOESNT DICTATE A SEASON.
-
I think the coaches are scheming like they don't trust him ( or maybe the OL) and not attack down field..

Here's another interesting observation
-
I would definitely take your scenario but easier to look at now than at the time of those drafts. The year Lucas was drafted ,Jones was the highest rated rookie OT in the class on PFF. Made all rookie and was gotten 2 rounds later. He had Jenkins and Borom already there so maybe he didnt have every thing sorted out yet and was waiting for Braxton . As for Claypool , it definity looks like a bad deal but is still is just the first game of the year.

The later most likely but a little early to judge. Cherry picking specific players for a point is a little unfair at this stage. Even if Claypool and Jones is a bust , if Wright and Dexter turn out to be above average players, those were good picks. Rice still has to prove himself and Carter still could end up being a problem. To early for an evaluation.

I agree with Davis was bad but Whitehair was worse. both had 5 pressures but Davis didnt give up a sack -
I dont think we are as bad we looked yesterday but have a lot of work to do. here is PFF grades for the OL: per PFF. the Bears' O-line was ... not good: Nate Davis -- 9 pressures (pass-block grade of 7.2) Lucas Patrick - 5 pressures Cody Whitehair - 5 pressures, 1 sack, 1 hit Darnell Wright - 5 pressures Braxton Jones -- 1 pressure (grade of 90.4)

By his tape, the ball needs to be out 2 to 2.5 . Im not sure why he waited ? Mooney was open and at 2.0 he could have hit Herbert? Was the scheme a problem when Herbert blocked his vision to throw to Mooney for a split second ?

As much as this game was bad it didnt get out of hand until the end of the 3 rd when two GB plays gave them scores with player breakdowns. The fourth quarter seemed like fatigue set in and led to poor play. most of the blame goes to the coaching staff for not having us prepared to play our first game. We have talent in the DBackfield but they were out of position . I think the cover two wasnt working. We need to play more man to man. Everything is correctable , we will have to see what the coaches do to get us ready for this game.

Its a little early to say hot seat but the coaches are building a resume that may not look good by mid season.

I rewatched the game and all your observations were spot on. All the big plays by GB were breakdowns. The one Jones screen was the LBers over pursuing. Lots of breakdown in coverage by the Ss. Jackson was terrible not getting where he was supposed to be. The middle of the OL was constantly a problem. Whitehair was terrible. Fields was under siege and the scheme of the short passing game failed. It seemed when Fields threw down the field farther it was more successful. I think the players that missed the most preseason played the worst. When we ran Foreman and Johnson up the middle it was working. The outside run zones were a problem. Johnson should get a lot more snaps. Billings and Edmunds played well . CBs were okay but both Ss seemed out of position all the time. The first half of the game was not all that bad but in the second half, GB made adjustments and we didn't. As far as blame I think the coaches should be first in line then poor play by Jackson and Whitehair are next in line. Fields didn't have a good game but was under pressure all the time and is much lower on the blame list. We invested in Moore and Claypool in the off season and only had two throws to Moore, it's a scheme issue . Why did Getsy go so conservative?

No matter what anyone thinks of how how the preseason was handled, only having one starter missing an a injury to a ST player is a win.
-
This will be the cumulation of the best off season in recent history and we now get to see what our future holds for us. We need to see improvement in Justin Fields We need to see our run defense vastly improved We need to see what ( Take the north and never get it back) looks like I want to see what 2/3 of the rebuild of the new regime loos like I want 33-13 but will accept any kind of victory
-
Truthfully I hope all the RBs play well and he becomes the lead back next year. I think he is a better version of Montgomery but with a little more energy to his game.
-
I realize that is an outrageous prediction but it will be the only game of the year I can do it because we havent seen them play yet. More realistically it will be 23-20 but I like the first pick better. I think Getsy will scheme an opportunity for former Packers like Tonyan and Lewis to take a cheap shot at their former team. i would do that.

I seen it on Twitter and didnt verify it because I think that's what they should do.
