Could be, I still think Campbell ends up at OG , if you look at LTs in the league, there are only a few that are short armed . That leaves Banks, Membou and Simmons' as the OT prospects.
-
It's hard to build your DL and OL when your first pick is a RB. A mid round pick will get us a potential lead back without grabbing Jeanty. It's different if we have no one but Swift is not garbage. I just don't think they get a RB at 10 .
-
I seen where we are close to signing Durham Smythe/ TE that played with the dolphins. When he was drafted, Ben Johnson was the TE coach there. Very good blocker but has small offense potential. In 7 yrs, 123 catches.
-
Jeanty would be a great addition but would have to take him at 10 if we got that chance. Swift has 2 more years at 17 mil for both. Johnson has 2 more years left. I think they will fit Johnson's offense. We will draft a RB but I don't think until 72 or pick 145. This draft is deep and we can get a power back at one of those picks. Skattebo, Mullings, Martinez, and Ollie Gordon are all power backs and can be gotten 3 rd and beyond.
-
Right now we have 50 mil in cap. They extend Gordon that's 10 to 15 more gone. 35 mil. 8 mil for rookies and 7-10 for operating capital for the year. 20 mil. We need a center, and a couple DL at the low side. Plus backups. I don't think 20 mil is enough to be able to sign Dalman.
-
He's rated the middle of the first round and is still projected as a LT plus potentially guard. Has production at a major school.
-
Listen to a couple podcasts about Dalman and they were saying he's not a scheme fit for our offense. Sited that Lions centers were always big guys . Went back and looked at Ricky Stromberg draft profile when drafted. He was rated as a eventual starter. 6'4" 320. Was a top 100 pick in 2022. Was voted the top OL ( not just center) in the SEC as a senior. If he is now healthy, could he be the starter? One of his strengths is football IQ and running the OL schemes. It's worth a mention. He's rostered this year.

Can't wait to see X with all the bear journalists, go get Bosa. They jump on anyone who is available. ,
-
I hope they get a couple of trade backs lots of players between 20 and 50. I wonder if Carter falls because of his stress factor in his foot.
-
I'm sure they have a plan but not sure they are willing to pay Dalman 12-15 mil. That's a lot of money in the IOL.
-
If you look at quality OL, a lot of them are older and playing well. Zeitler, Trent Williams, Brandon Scherff and Ryan Kelly. I think we could have a solid Line for 3 yr stretch and add prospects to take over when ready.
-
If they sign Dalman, that means they will be drafting DL often in our first 4 picks. Maybe one OL that is multi positional, Zabel comes to mind. I think Poles adds a few extra picks with trade backs to add a RB and another OL. So 3 DLs, 2 OLs, and a WR and RB. Thuney is an ironman, he has 3-4 yrs left. I think we extent him . If Jackson stays healthy, we have him 2 more yrs. Braxton plays out his contract and Kiran takes over LT, this year or next. We have a solid OL for 2 to 3 yrs. Draft a couple OL for future and depth.

I think these moves allow us to know exactly what we are spending. A couple FAs would have to be bid on and the top couple will be higher than we're paying. I think they refinance Gordon so there is probably only one more big pay spent. Probably DL. As far as center, it's either Bates, or a lesser signing of Evan Brown who played in Detroit when Johnson was there. They project Brown as 3-21. I think they would have cut Bates if his health wasn't up to par. I think they draft a rookie that could play center and may get him starting by the end of the year. They are not going to continue to spend 10+ mil contracts like we had 100 mil to spend. Gordon and a DL.
-
Definitely players have to fit systems to max out their talent. Membou is a mover.
-
That would be amazing but not sure they pay another 12.5 mil for Dalman. I think they have something else in mind. Evan Brown?
-
Jackson played all 3 spots last year. He will be the one to move. 1115 snaps 0 sacks 1 penalty 25 pressures That's what an all pro looks like. So we added 16 mil and 11.8 mil.How many more are we dishing out? Actually both could be gone next year with the money. I suspect a new contract for Thuney to lower his cap hit.
-
I put a separate thread up for this, I didn't notice you posted it. We are trying to push the next two years for a run at the SB with these signings.
-
We traded a 4 th round 2026 pick for all pro Joe Thuney from KC. That's 2 LGs now. Is Jackson going to play Center?
-
It's nice that we got Jackson because there wasn't very many left guards in free agency and lots of RGs. If we don't go after Dalman, he's probably 12-15 mil a year, then who? Jackson got reps at center last year but doubt they figure him there.
-
That was my favorite no talent Bear.
-
I agree with all of that. Unless Jackson all of a sudden becomes super healthy, he's hear 2 years at the most but I expect just one. Hope we draft a rookie that is capable of starting but developes late in the year and beats him out.
-
I want football players, traits are nice but they are more misses than wins. I don't want any part of Stewart that won the combine,no production. Give me jack Sawyer that beats people up but isn't as fast.
-
90% of evaluation is tape. Some GMs get excited with high RAS scores ( Poles) but ultimately you have access information and figure it out
-
Who's Johnson? You mean Jackson? They traded for a player and pay 11.8 mil a year to be a backup. They will draft a starter type player but he would have to beat him out. He's been brought in to start. Because of Injury risk, Simmons is coming an injury also. Dalman is coming off an Injury. Will Fries is coming off an injury. Lots of risk no matter which way you go. This is the choice they made.

Everyone says how good Tyler Booker is, I just listed a different opinion. That rates him a little lower in the draft. I listen to all opinions,I don't get stuck on one, I'm flexible.
