  1. If you look at his history, he fits the Laporte role in Detroit. No way Johnson thinks he's not a fit. With a better offense, he will be a top 10 TE next year and 10 mil will be considered a bargain.
  2. I have arthritis, just never seen the story that that is the case. I trust AZ54 more so than probably anyone else on this site, but have never heard that statement applied to Bates up until this moment that he missed the year because of that. I would have thought that was known information before this point in time.
  3. 10 mil a year is what average starters get. He proved he can play at a high level if used properly. There are 12 TEs making over 10 mil a year. Kmet had 55 targets this year. 47/474/4 Sam Laporte 83 targets. 60/736/7 on the best offense in the league. Kmet had one of the top catch percentages in the league. 28 TEs had more targets than Kmet in 2024. More targets better production. It's not brain surgery.
  4. That may be true but his 2 previous years, he only missed one game due to injury. 2022 was his only year he started every game.
  5. The first order of business for the new coaching staff is to evaluate their own players and resign their free agents that they will want to keep or cut players under contract. Bates, because of injury, may not be kept. They know more about his problem and whether he is healed. If healthy he can be a competent backup or even starting center at which they brought him in for. 4 mil would be saved. Gerald Everett never had a role on this team but has a history of a contributing player. Kmet didn't get targets so obviously Gerald didn't either. We will have to see how the new coaches evaluate him. 5 mil would be saved if cut. Tyler Scott never showed up but can a new coaching staff help him? He has speed, something Johnson values. Would only save 800 thousand. Pickens, Owens and D Robinson are others that didn't show a lot that could be cut.
  6. He talked about when Ryan Pace came into power, he was offered a OL advisor to the OL coach and the Bear's only offered him 15 and hour for that position. That might have been the beginning of a coaching career but he told them to go **** themselves.
  7. Montez Sweat didn't have a good year. He was burdened by nagging injuries but just because someone has a bad year, they automatically need to be traded? Now several bad years would be a problem but one year with an injury laden line shouldn't be the measuring tool. Good players don't always have consistent play every game of f their career.
  8. Kmet played well when a QB throws the ball to him. He can't do anything about a lack of targets. Our passing game was disjointed and play calling was 34 wr sceens a game. If we want a professional passing game, he will be used frequently.
  9. I don't think we will need to add a top WR in free agency. We have 3 weapons in Moore, Odunze and Kmet. That's exactly what Detroit had last year with a top offense. Tim Patrick would fill WR 3 role at a cheap price. Scott has speed and will given the chance to show it this year or be cut. I think they bring back Collin Johnson to fill in depth. Swift is also a weapon in the passing game.
  10. We definitely need a Olin type to kick ass when things aren't going well. Rookies usually don't jump into that role for a few years. Hopefully the free agent OL can fill that role. Not sure if Trey Smith is that person, or the other few options.
  11. Totally that happens but then you get Edwards and Billings at great prices. Byard's contract is reasonable, Pryor and Shelton were cheap additions. Poles has signed more good contracts than bad. Hopefully he continues that behavior.
  12. Just seen where the Bears extended Cunningham's contract for one more year. As I wake up this morning, can you guys verify that? I'm at a disadvantage with information because of the 12 hours different in time and my sleep cycle.
  13. Actually there's a few not around much. Grizzly has been hiding a lot.
  14. Any big name free agents has to much cost of multi picks. Just draft a stud at 10 if it's that valuable. I like the value way to build, Kevin Zeilter and Chase Young for the same money.
  15. Pick 98-99-100 would be a good spot to grab a RB
  16. We have a history of Poles off-season agenda. Of course you could add a starting guard and still draft one. Competition is the key. Most rookies have a growth period. I think Poles has one big contract out there. That could very well be extending Kyler Gordon. Maybe 2 Nate Davis type adds, Chase Young won't get a big contract, 10-12 mil. Kevin Zeilter,Dave Dalman as a center won't be huge 12 mil? I think money will be spent on the trenches and still draft the trenches
  17. Just read that Jacksonville will hire Ian. I just woke up in Thailand so I haven't followed up on this story but you guys probably have more input. That adds pick 98 if true ( I think)
  18. I totally believe it's all your fault.
  19. PpIf we brought in Tim Patrick, Chase Young, Kevin Zeilter and Mike Greski. Resigned Shelton, Pryor, Cris Williams, would that be enough before the draft.
  20. I'm not sure great applies to Carter and Smith. Carter shows up and Trey was a little off. Both good players but not sure 23 mil to Trey may be well spent somewhere else. Milton Williams and Mecki Becton both had great games. Both are free agents. Philly can't pay both. We could sign Kevin Zeilter and Milton Williams for the 23-25 mil a year Trey Smith will get. We could sign M Becton and Cris Young for the same money as Trey Smith. Lots of options, free agency will determine who our first 3 picks are.
  21. Campbell will definitely be moved inside. Some say his best position could be center. I like that idea but doesn't seem the #10 pick would be to early for a center. I like Jack Sawyer that should be available in the second round. Tough guy with an attitude. He's the player making the stink when Michigan players planted a flag on the field of that game. Our first 3 picks can fix the OL or DL. 2 out of three will go D or O. Needs to be on the OL. Simmons and Grabel would be good choices. Free agency will determine those picks. Lots of people talking about a RB , we have enough talent there in the new system to not use a top 50 pick on.
  22. KC has one of the best coaches in the league and best QB, and got their a** kicked. Philly didn't even run the ball well. The QB made the difference, we now have one of them.
  23. They're not trading assets to get a star, that's something teams do when they're one player away. They're a few must take players if they fall to them. Harmon, Carter, Banks and Campbell. If they're not there, a move back 5-10 spots and get an extra top 50 pick would be ideal. I would love Campbell and make him a center and draft a guard and tackle. 2 DL players and fill in with a RB and WR. I think Campbell would be a all pro center type. It would be great to grow with Caleb. As a LT, he called all the line plays for LSU. Great football IQ.
  24. I think Poles thought he could throw a line together in his image. One first round pick and a fifth round development player. A few season vets and freak athletes that develop. Obviously it didn't work out. Now he will put high level assets together. Poles is here for the future, questioning him is valid but he ain't going anywhere.
  25. Boron? Pryor and Martin will be minimum salary buy back. There will be an evaluation of players still here , there could be some keepers we don't think were any good. I think we draft 3 OL also but probably only one will be written in as a starter while the other are developed and waiting there turn. I hope a surprise pick like a Mbow could surprise and be a day one starter as a T conversation but that's probably wishful thinking. It would be nice is Stromberg stayed healthy and became a starter.
