Rumor: Bears to Fire Nagy after Thanksgiving
Stinger226 replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
This is an odd situation . You think it could be real then George speaks out , none of it is true? I think Nagy is gone, but maybe not until the end of the yr. Like AZ said, it seems Pace may not be going anywhere. With the new stadium on the horizon, maybe Pace heads that moves up the ladder and hires a GM and new coach. -
I agree with most of your comments . DM still has a contract thru 2022. 1.2 mil. He will still be here. Nichols didnt take a step forward but resign him to a team friendly deal. I think it is time to cut ties with Hicks. Coming back to this team will cost to much. He aint going to sign a 1 yr 5 mil deal. Tonga and Blackson will have to fill the role and draft someone. The big contracts arent going anywhere. To much dead money. Mack, EJAC, Quinn. It will also cost 9 mil next yr if we cut Danny Trevathan. A lot of bad contracts on this team will limit what we can do. It will now cost us 5 mil to cut Graham. Pace played to much with the cap. We need to acquire a CB, WR and OC in that order. I could also see maybe finally moving Daniels to OC and maybe have a new guard. WE do have a core of players to work with. Fields-Mooney-Kmet-Bosom-Jenkins?-Herbert--Whitehair-R Smith- J Johnson-T Gibson. Daniels contract is up and I think they bring him back for decent money. We need a good GM and let him pick everyone. The Pace era is over.

I can see them taking a partner for the new stadium coming but not sure of cutting ties completely. I don't think Besos is a sports guy. He has failed in other ventures, look at CNN. Went from top to bottom.
-
Michael Gallup is available I think. He got lost in transition when they drafted Lamb and acquired Cooper. He had good yrs in 2019 and a decent yr in 2020. Could be gotten cheap, has did nothing this yr.
-
He hasn't been good since his first 3 yrs. He's not going to have instant success unless he goes to a Brady or Rodgers. Poor leadership here which means he would be a cancer .
-
For us to come back after 12 penalties , totally bad ref calls, we have some positives. Fields is getting better. The defense played decent enough to win with EJac, Mack, Ogeltree out and Hicks going down during the game. Borom has a bright future. As much as we bring up Paces mistakes, Borom, Hebert, Mooney, and Kmet are big pluses. DM is very good and with Hebert in the wings, we are finally becoming a good running team. They started getting ARob into the game plan. I guess the more Fields develops the more everyone gets more targets. This is becoming fun even with all the glaring mistakes. Nagy definitely needs to be gone. It is always a bad leadership problem with a lack of discipline on your team.

I would have thought with his talent, he would be a stud in every game but the NFL is a cruel place to work.
-
Can the defense stop the run after the last few weeks of looking like crap. As we seen yesterday, its hard to predict anything in the NFL. Maybe Fields throws for 3 TDs and over 300 yds.(Nah, just dreaming). The only thing I can predict at this stage is a low scoring game, and it will go down to the end of the game.

Anytime you have good players, you try to keep them. DM is a very good RB, offer a team friendly deal next year . Having two good RBs is a good thing to go along with Fields. IF the rookie OTs work out, the offense has a bright future.(minus Nagy) Jenkins-Whitehair-?-Daniels-Borom. I could see the scenario where Daniels goes back to center, and fit a RG in instead of Mustifer. He has looked bad on some plays, but not sure how he overall grades out. Anyone know? Add Kmet, Mooney and you have the makings of (minus Nagy) a good offense but the defense will decline. The trend in the NFL. Good Os and bad Ds.

We will find out a lot about our team this week. After a lousy performance, do they fold or inspire to play better. Steelers arent a very good team but obviously they dont have to be to beat us. It seems like every time we have expectations, they play bad and we think they dont have a chance , we get surprised. I think we play better but it will come down to a a if we get some turnovers. 23-17 either way.
-
Hicks was back but not playing up to par other than a few plays. Goldman has yet to show up. Quinn was off, but didnt practice all week. The offense finally shows some rhythm and some promise and the D blows up. I think it comes down to bad offensive coaches that cant put an offense together. There is talent here, but cant put a consistent offensive together. I think Desi is fine, just needs more talent.
-
Rarely do we get long drives with rhythm. Always something screws up, missed block, dropped pass or penalty. I think other than the offensive line, we have talent in place. I think the scheme is so player unfriendly, it just looks like a mess all the time. With a rookie QB and running the ball well, we only have play action 16% of the time in the last game. That is totally lame.
-
Florio would never give up his gig, he built that from the ground up.
-
Fields definitely has some growth to do, but MT thrived when the offense was dumbed down to fit his style. With the problem at RT in this game , it kept blowing up plays. We can run the ball but shotgun is not doing it for Fields. He hangs in the pocket to long before he moves( trying to make a play downfield), making mistakes. We need to do more play action, go back to giving the OL more help in blocking schemes, and roll out Fields. Im not very bright, and I can see that. All of his mistakes were pressures as he sat in the pocket.
-
The OL does okay in Run blocking but not good in pass protection. There is a history of backup running backs playing well in the NFL and falling when they become the lead back. We have DM for another year and Hebert here so it will play itself out and be a strength for the team.
-
What we had yesterday was a nail in the coffin. I always want the team to win, but loses like these are what causes regime changes and we definitely need that. I could look at new potential coaches but need to look at GM prospects and then let them pick a guy. There is still talent on this team so we will be close to.500again. 3 yrs in a row. Pace has some of our future drafts jacked up and the salary cap is going to be a mess but they need to go. Quinn and Mack has big hits on their contracts so they arent leaving. 32 are signed for new year and only a few would be cap friendly cuts. Most would have a lot of dead money left. So we will look similar to this next year. Tough sledding ahead. Hicks is out of contract but Jackson will be impossible to cut. Bad juju.

When a player plays well, we all jump on the bandwagon and say Pay him. This is an example why that is not always a good idea.

With Gipson being hurt, Bush on IR, then who? If all healthy move Gipson to FS and Bush in SS , BUT not happening.
