I think Fields won't be playing against the Jets. He has some injury issues, why would they risk more injury? We will see how Siemien does win the same parts. I think we seen what Ebner can do ( nothing) , so give Evans some time. Herbert was definitely missed.
-
Picking at 3 for now. There isnt any WRs rated in the top 10 right now but maybe some rise by the draft. If we add an impact player like a Parsons,( Jaylen Carter-Anderson - Murphy). we have to take him.
-
Observations: Ebner cant create holes, I seen him 4 times run up the ass of a blocker. no vision Play calling was bad in the the second half knowing at halftime that Justin had a strain hamstring. Then hurt his shoulder and still calling him running. Gretsy not getting a HC next yr. OL was bad. Whitehair has not played well since he came back. Schofield had a terrible game. Jenkins needs to be back. Hard to get rhythm with the WRs when you only pass 21 times a game. We need to get at least 30 reps there. Kmet had a highlight reel catch today I would much rather be winning these games but the losing doesnt hurt as bad when I know we are going to get a top 5 pick.

You stated many good things but keep in mind his original plan. He did go after an oline. He made a higher financial offer to both Brian Allen and Joe Noteboom than the Rams. They choose to stay in LA that just won the SB. Also the Bates move but none of them worked out. Patrick was a second choice. Had he stabilized the OL early, the WRs he choose would have looked better. He stated building through the draft and not bring in expensive FR agents. He didn't have the money to make a splash in FA nor a first round pick. It limited what he did. The good teams take BPA and that's what he did. His draft won't define itself for 1 or 2 more years, but everyone of his draft picks are on the roster except for Thomas/OG that just joined the Rams, that's a good sign. After the draft he added Wesco, Harry, Watts, Sanborn, Jaylor Jones , Claypool, Leatherwood, Joel Blackwell, Lamar Jackson, Sterling Weatherford, Killen Die sch and Taco Charlton. Not all of these moves have played out yet but that's an A+ for effort for remaking the roster.

The one thing we were always missing was a great QB, IMO we now have one. The trick is to build around him. Poles is transferring our emphasis on O instead of D. The key will be to have both. In 1/2 year of work, I think he knows what to do. Poles first 2 draft picks were D. This coming yr will define our future.
-
To be honest, they have been a successful franchise and have won a lot. Being a Bears fan, I would have liked that to. Have two great QBs. All of that has created for me that I like to see them become losers.

That is one of the best stadiums in the NFL but I love when they lose. More because of their fans than the team. Lot of my friends are Packer fans. Love to laugh at them.

LBers: Sanborn, Weatherford, are the only two LBers that have contracts for next yr. Sanborn appears to have earned a job. Weatherford will get a chance to earn some time, maybe not this year. Morrow is not signed for next yr but I think he has earned a contract as he has played well. Matt Adams has had some injury issues but has played well when on the field. He may be brought next year for depth. Joe Thomas is just a veteran depth piece and dont think he will be back next year. In 2023 I think they bring in one Vet and draft one and will go from there. Bobby Okereke/LB from the Colts that learned under Flus and is one of the top tacklers in the league. He may be brought in, but that probably means Morrow would not be back. If Sanborn is the real deal, then Poles will put a good body next to him and add for depth. SLB doesnt play that many snaps to have to get a big time backers to play there.
-
Clearly Poles is going young but a few bigger contracts, older players still remain. I have no doubt they will all be replaced but not until there is a clear answer to replace them. We have no problem with cap money, that is usually the reason teams drop players before their time because they need the money.
-
It's always nice when a UDFA plays well. He is the type that will play himself into a job. We need some cheap contracts to mix with the high salary players. That's the only way to make a roster work. Had a good as game as the 20 mil wanna be Roquan had all year.
-
Most of what you say it true, but as of right now, there is no replacement on the team. If he drafts a FS high, then they will find away to get rid of him. Quinn was non productive, Roquan wasnt going to give in to Poles offer, so that made them available. I absolutely think since Fields is ready to fly that they will try to win next year. Do you think Whitehair is in jeopardy? It costs 8.3 to cut him next yr. They are keeping J. Carter on the roster as a rookie, with little playing time. If at the beginning of next yr, Carter starts to shine, they may change but, I dont think having all young players on the line will solidify the line going forward. Jenkins, Jones, Borom , Leatherwood are all young and you need some vets to stabilize the line. Cody will be 31 but if he plays well this yr, he stays here. A 31 yr old with a 8.3 cap hit may be hard to trade or cut. What he brings in during the offseason will dictate some of it.

I think he is here next yr and then 2024 is a crap shoot. I think they think that next yr will be a playoff run, so creating more holes doesnt seem logical. NOW if they draft one in the first 4 rounds and plan on him taking his place, maybe next yr at the trade deadline for a 7th round pick. We simply arent hurting for cap space.

I have been betting on Fields over 1.5 TDs and 1 running TD and it has paid off two weeks in a row. Im going with 2 anytime TDs this time, it pays with great odds. I will say 118 rushing and 268 passing yds. If this is going to be our breakout O game, he will get 3 TDs in the air and we will go over 40 points. That would be nice.

Yes EJac is not worth his money, but he is playing well and this defense is based on TOs and he is the only one consistently doing that. He is signed thru 2024, so I think he is around next yr and then depending on the depth behind him, decide to replace him. If they draft a FS this yr in the top 4 rounds, he may have his fate decided for him in 2024. I do not think they are just going to axe him because of money. We have plenty to do what Poles wants to do. I do believe, when they go to give Fields money, his contract will be gone but that is in two yrs.

Shows you how much I pay attention.

A bunch of different threads mention our future going forward so I thought I was just going to put here . Trying to list (IMO) core players, 2023 starters, and who wont be back. I start with the D and change subject matter as we move forward. DBs: EJac, he will be 30 with a cap hit of 17 mil and a dead money hit of 9.5 if you move on from him. I think he stays one more yr. He has played well this yr, not sure he's worth 17 mil but they have a better dead money situation in 2024 (5.5 mil.) if they want to move on. Jaylon Johnson, our best corner costs 1.7 mil, and in 2024 , 2 mil, he wont be going anywhere but not sure he has proven to be a blue chip player just quite yet. Kindle Vidor, still has to prove himself but for 1 mil next yr will be keep at a depth piece . He is a starter for now but they will try to upgrade his spot. Gordon and Brisker are future stars and will progress with positive plays. both cost around 1.5 in 2023. Dane Cruikshank, DHC, are vet players that are signed for next yr but can be cut at anytime. Jaylon Jones, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Blackwell are young players that are signed for next yr but need to improve to get a roster spot. E Jac, Johnson, Gordon, and Brisker are 2023 starters and core players. Vidor needs to get better, DHC could stay on the roster for his ST play as a backup. I think Cruikshank gets replaced because he's to hurt and has never proved himself.

What's going on with us brings in Taco's and Wieners ? Not sure there is a joke there.
-
Agree with all that, he has money and draft picks, this yr will give us a lot to debate.
-
They treat this yr as if the Bears regime could have went out and bought @1 WRs and top OTs, we didnt have the money. As a team they are growing slowly as some players get better. Do they need more help, duh It cant all be done in a yr. Poles is moving his assets to O instead of D, so that is at the cost of a terrible D but it had to be done. Next yr will be time for judgement when it comes to Poles and Flus. Almost all of his moves this yr were for young players and cheap risks to find core players. Its the first yr of a rebuild, not (lets take a shot at the playoffs).

If we use his first yr as a example, he will go after a couple of high end players, fill in with middling signings and then draft BPA. Last yr he went after Ogunjobi, (28)( 22 Ts, 1/2 sack) dont know it that was due to health or just not up to speed. He also made contract offers to Brian Allen (27) and Joe Notebloom (27) but lost out to the SB champions. Tried to get Ryan Bates (25) but unless he offered him big money, Bills were going to retain him. Since Fields will be ready to rock next yr, I think he fills in the OL as needed. Patrick hasnt worked out, they can get rid of him with a 1.4 cap hit. I think he pursues the OL . They paid Leatherwood some money, so he gets first shot at RT. Jones has probably did enough to stay with his progress. I think Whitehair and Jenkins are our OGs for next yr. So OC and maybe another OT in FAgency. He will go after either a DT and DE on a big contract and then draft around that. As the yr goes forward it will dictate where we need to go first. What we bring in in FA will dictate the draft. I think he goes BPA in the draft barring a few positions, RB,QB. I looked at a few of Big Boards and there is 2 DTs, 2-3 Edge, Jordon Addison is the only WR that is consistent in the top 10 and a TE. I can see anyone of those positions being drafted in the first round depending on how high our pick is. Probably Edge or DT. There are two OTs that are in the top 15 , Paris Johnson and Skoronski. Not sure he will do that if Jones continues to progress.

Seen this on Twitter, national people talk down a lot on Justin. I would like to ask them, how in one yr a new GM can completely change a team with no first round pick and no money? People think you can do everything in one yr when you had the worst roster in the NFL in 2022 once ARob, Hicks were all gone.
-
I trust Poles to know who will be good and wont. Of course there are many failures on high draft picks, and a couple first rounders would be great. Detroit, Houston, Miami, Philly, and Seattle have two first round picks. Det and Hou will probably finish in front of us, Mia and Phi dont need one so that leaves Seattle who has Den pick which may be below ours. There are 3 rated top 10, so I think they will all be gone before our pick. I dont know which WRs are #1s , that is always a crap shoot but if Murphy, Carter or Anderson are there, we have to take them. We have a blue chip at QB, we need a blue chip on D.
