With so many teams in cap hell and really good players being released , we could probably grab a few of those players on cheap contracts and upgrade the overall talent of this team. If we only had to give up 3 first round players, it would be stupid not to grab Wilson(wont happen). You figure one of those picks would be a QB,(just traded for one) so you are basically giving up 2 first round picks. We absolutely would be playoff bound. This roster has a lot of good talent. We need to upgrade OT (draft)2nd and 3rd. We can get some help in FA at WR and TE. The trade scenario would be a problem if we had to give up young good players. Johnson,. Smith, Nichols? We have to add not tear down.

Likely playing under the tag but depends on what they do at QB. If they can get a Winston 7-9 mil, then they may find the money to pay him. If they luck out and get a crazy trade, the money will be gone. (paying the tag or 20-22 mil on a new contract) It will have a domino affect.
-
IF the Bears dont have a winning record this year, Pace and Nagy are probably both gone. They are trying to obtain a different QB room, whether that succeeds or not, getting a 3rd round pick for AROB doesnt really say(going for it). I would take AROB over all but maybe Godwin being he is younger and will be around a 16-18 mil a year guy. Where as AROB will be 20-22 mil a year guy. If I was a GM, I would not have to think about that very long. (not giving up draft capital, paying less to a younger guy)

No way anyone's offering a first for him. If they have the cap money to sign him, there are several choices that wouldnt cost anything in free agency. I read where maybe a 2nd and probably a 3rd because they would then have to pay him 20 mil for the next 3 or 4 years.
-
Since Wilson or Watson wont happen, taking a chance on Winston if our best option. NO is in worst shape than we are with the cap, so if we had to bid on him, we should be able to pay more. Otherwise, Trading for a Minshew would be my next choice. Will come cheap and has had some moments in his tenure so far. Will not cost much on the cap. Foles is here and drafting a prospect would have at least create a little excitement if our options fall on their face.

When they got rid of Kyle , he couldnt stay on the field and wasnt playing well. He will be 33 in December. We are set in the middle and he will not sign somewhere to be a backup. I would say a big fat NO. I hope he does well, but will not be dominating anyone at a high level.
-
IF they are going for it to save their jobs, why would they tag him and trade him? There are a few good WRs out there in FA but they will cost almost as much as the tag. I was reading where they might be able to get a 2nd for him but more likely a 3rd because of the money he will cost. There is only a handful of teams with the ability to sign expensive players. Most teams have cap issues. So why wouldnt they just sign Golliday-Godwin-JuJu instead of giving up draft capital for an expensive player.
-
That will be our savior for the year, getting good players on short cheap deals.
-
I dont think he has inside info, just speculating. He does like trading for Sam Darnold as a good idea.
-
I heard today that because they have not established the cap for next year yet, they move tag deadline one week.
-
Which one is the surprise move? I think they might just redo Hicks contract to save some money and not release him. I think the Wilson dream is dead and they cut Graham.
-
Ya I just seen that he is planning on retiring, maybe its a money ploy?
-
I hope you're right. Watch them pull a 10-6 record and make the playoffs , just enough to piss us off and then they give them extensions.
-
I already know how you feel, Im kind of trying to get reactions from other members. I agree with most of your opinions, I just am trying to have a more positive take on this year to hope we get better. Would you like to make a gentlemen's bet, Leno is still on the roster this year?

Unless they dismantle the D to get a QB, if almost everyone is back, we can have a top 5 D. If they have more consistently play at QB, upgrade the OL, and give the ball to Monty, we could have a successful year. I heard The No Name Football podcast( Olin Kreutz) that had a OL guru on. He stated that the 2nd best OT in the draft is Teven Jenkins/ RT. Will definitely be there at our pick, power, technic, and nasty, but is only mentioned as a RT. So if we got him, that means if we draft another OT is will only be a LT prospect and not start this year. He also said that Leno is a competent LT. His problem is his size, so when he gets beat, it just looks bad, but is consistent most of the time. He continuedly gets ranked in the middle of LTs . So, would everyone be okay if Leno comes back for one more year with a rookie behind him? This would have Leno,-Daniels-Mustifer-Whitehair-Jenkins. That would be an upgrade over last year. He mentioned that Bars could actually end up being a starter at one of the OT spots if necessary.

The cause of Pace and Nagy being here is a 12-4 season with a double donk away from being in the NFC playoff game at home game against LA. Coach of the year gives him a few years so two 8-8s are not going to eliminate a 12-4 season. I think if this season is mediocre or bad the possibility exists Pace could be gone and Nagy stay. The talk will be he hasnt had his QB to implement his system. Fair or not fair that may happen. The talk will be is the new guy better than what you have. I think Nagy is not a good OC but may be a good coach. He is popular with his team, pushes positive vibes. Tomlin is an example, he has been successful not being a defensive or offensive guru. I think the majority of blame for this team is Pace which is drafting better the last two years w/o first round picks. PLUS having this pandemic year has forced teams to worry about the bottom line more with disruption in a normal season. Bears dont have other businesses to rely on support, Bears are it for the McCaskey's . What if , the defense is back, Quinn and Mack live up to their contracts. We get better QB play and Monty is one of the leading rushers in the league? We make the playoffs with a winning record. These two are getting extensions for better of worse.
-
I think they end up tagging AROB because with the team in win now mode, why would they trade him?
-
We dont have a lot of control over who ends up here, we have to be lucky. To stay at 20 , I dont think any of the top 5 are there, but maybe a Trask, Mills , or Mond end up being upside QBs that would not be worth the first round but as a 2nd round pic.
-
We are likely to be average (again) and unless they draft a QB that has a big upside, I see both Pace and Nagy gone but that will be a year from now. That does not detract me from hoping we are a winning team and the team has a good draft and we improve. Its easy to be negative and cash in, if you like being like that then change teams. I try to be optimistic and realistic at the same time, hard to do with this team. I do not see the purpose of constantly calling for the outing of Pace and Nagy when it isnt happening this year. I personally think that is one year away so I look at how we can improve the team and maybe get lucky at QB. Wilson or Watson arent happening but maybe we get lucky with ending up with a Mac Jones or Kyle Trask and they turn out good. Our foundation is probably average as far as rating rosters in the NFL. Plus players: Mack is an above average player even if he hasnt lived up to his salary Fuller is above average and been concisely good EJAC is not living up to his contract but that does not make him bad, hopefully just had a bad year Hicks with injuries has not had as big an impact but is still very good when healthy. Trevathan is a good player admitting he's starting to slow but a good leader, played much better the second half. (pandemic related effect) Goldman is above average and we keep forgetting because he opted out, will have a big affect on the line this year Quinn sucked this year and looks like a bust but still has upside, I think another year and different coordinator , he plays like we paid him to Nichols is rising and will end up being our best DL once Hicks is gone. Johnson is a plus player that will shine going forward Whitehair and Daniels will anchor our team going forward and do not count out Mustifer from becoming an anchor Massie and Leno hopefully be gone this year and young upside OTs will be in place. Do not count out Bars being in the mix at either spot. Robinson is elite but might be gone Mooney is a riser Comet is a riser Montgomery will only get better and be one of our stars if they use him right. I think Cohen is a above average asset and is one reason our offense looked so bad most of the year. This isnt a lot of names but I think puts us in the upper half of the league at this point.

SO 1) bad idea
-
We still have Foles maybe with a better OL, he can produce better this year, also draft a QB prospect. We are definitely more desperate and have a GM that has no problem trading draft prospects but it Watson is truly going to be traded, there is a long list of teams that will go after him.
-
I personally think AROB is a top 5 or 6 best WRs in the league. Having said that, for the 18.6 mil it will take just to tag him this year should we? How about sign a Cory Davis made 6 mil last year, ( maybe 10 m) and Curtis Samuel who made 1.6 last year (6 mil contract for this year) and throw in a Phillip Dorsett 1.2 mil this year (3 mil contract). None are as good as AROB but gives us a upgraded WR room, for almost the same money. That way we can concentrate on upgrading the OL and a QB prospect in the draft.

Time to quit dreaming on Wilson and Watson. If the Seahawks trade Wilson they have to take a 39 mil cap hit. No way that would ever happen. If Watson forces a trade, there are several teams in much better position to give higher draft picks in any kind of trade scenario. For example, the Jets can give them Sam Darnold and the number 2 and 23rd picks in the draft. For example Miami can get them Tua and the #3 and 18th pick in the draft. Plus both of those teams have cap space to add help to make their teams better. We have Foles here, sign Alex Smith and draft a prospect , for example, if he falls to our spot, Mac Jones, OR take a OT with the first and draft Trask or Mond with our second pick. Build the line, tag AROB and hope one of those QB prospect become a future starter.
-
Of the four teams Wilson stated he would accept a trade to, Chi is the only one that makes any sense. LV just came out and praised Carr, that wont happen. Dallas has to jack with Zak, NO is in cap hell. I just dont see Seattle giving a top QB away without having another in play. Wont happen.

They are not adding any new franchises out in the NFL, so what team is in the position to want to change cities? None. Best scenario is the Bears buy Arlington and put in a big enough enclosed stadium to host a SB.
