Free agency starts in one week, the problem will be , I don't think we will be in for at least a week until all the biggest deals are done. Pace will have one surprise move but we won't be getting into a bidding war with anyone.

Fishburn and Durkin in the athletic had some interesting ideas. They say to sign Keenum, 1 yr 5 mil Golden, 1 yr 6 mil Trade the 4th pick to ravens for Hayden Hurst (the idea that he is 3rd string in Baltimore). Was a first round pick and has big upside at 3 mil. Kevin Johnson/ CB 2 yr 7 mil ( played well at buffalo last year) Halapoulicaati Vaitai OT 3 yr 24 mil. Backup at philly that would play RG this year and take a OT spot in future. Anybody know much about Vaitai?

I think Beasley would have more sacks but would that compensate for his weakness of not being a good run defender or in the pass. He will cost anywhere from 12 to 14 million. In 6 years he had 5 sacks or less 4 times. He had 15 5 once and 8 last year. At 6-3 and 246, he is not the ideal size for a OLB in our scheme. There is a reason Atlanta is letting him leave , he was not worth the 12.6 they paid him. Sound familiar? Dupree and Barrett are going to be paid higher. Golden may be a 10 to 12 mil a year guy but he's not young turning 29 this month. He may be the one to sign but then you can get 2-3 years of production before the contract has no value. If floyd could get 8 to 10 sacks a year , you would choose him over the rest. I doubt anybody trades for a 13.2 mil year player. They would just wait to have him cut.

From all mock draft projections I have seen, at the end of the 4th there will be potential draftable TEs and Wrs So with our first 2 picks we need OLineman and pass rushers.

The mid rounds are Paces sweet spot. I prefer he has 3s and 4s than first round picks.

Thank you for being so smart that you actually figured out what QB I was talking about as I misspelled his name. Sudfeld ( thanks to you I corrected my phones autocorrect) is a developing prospect and not ready to assume any starting roll yet. You did notice I was bringing in 2 QBs with my proposal not just Sudfeld. He has more upside than Bray. Bray has to be resigned back to the roster so why not go with someone that some suggest may be able to start in the future. If MT fails at least Mariota has the pedigree to be better so it's just a matter of throwing 2 darts at the board.
-
I thinking they went to him with a new deal and he doesn't like it. So now he may be gone.
-
We have no choice but to go all in on MT and get competition at QB. My first choice would be Mariota, so if MT bombs , we can maybe revive Mariota for the rest of the year. If not him Keenum or Sudeth as a backup. If it all fails may be dealing with a GM and draft a QB next year.

I think a speedy WR will be on Paces wish list. Many are in the draft, Ruggs, Mims, Hamler, Reagor, and Duvernsy. I think we'll draft one. There is also some options in free agency also. Travis Austin Marcus Johnson Breshad Perriman Paul Richardson None of these would be expensive additions.

I am going to use Miller's list and with the 43 rd pick list who I would be cool with. Being the possibility a player could drop I will pick from 33 to 53. Not in any order. 33- julian Okwara / edge 37- Zack Baun / Edge 41- Tyler Biadasz/ IOL 42- Austin Jackson/ OT With the 50th pick 43-up 45- jordon Love/ QB 48- Brycen Hopkins / TE 50- Josh Jones/ OT 62 John Simpson/IOL 63- Matt Hennessy/IOL 70- Bradlee Anae/ edge I hope we get the chance to trade back with one or both and get 2 extra kicks which the post suggests. Basically with our first 2 picks I want a OL addition preferably at Tackle and an edge Rusher. If we get a couple extra picks there is some intriguing WRs and TEs. So these are names I would have no problem with with our first 2 picks.
-
No trades, we don't have enough draft picks. So sign Keenum or Mariota or Sudeth and draft one.

Just seen a report that they DID NOT meet with Eli. I have seen 10 reports that they did and one that it's not true. I would it isn't true because it's a dump Avenue to take.
-
The bears had dinner with Eli Manning tonight? What you think? Probably better than Chase but ( scratch my head)
-
When I look at big boards Matt Miller, GBNDR and draft countdown are my favorite sites to use. I absolutely would trade for extra picks. Okwara OLB Trautman TE Ezra Cleveland ( lower than top 100) OT Devin Devinary WR Matt Hennessy IOL

AJ Esenepsa has had a bad combine if he drops, do we take him? He's top 15 rated everywhere.

I like the out of box thinking but Williams is going to have a big paycheck. I would love to have this be Paces surprise move but the money is going to be to great. He'll use his money and pay a group of FAs to fill every spot. I think he goes into the draft with not having to fill any position and just take BPA. That's the way good teams draft.

I believe he has a plan for OG , QB , S , and OLB. With one being an expensive get, the others will be reasonable and may not come in the first round of FAgency. I think he grabs a OG with his higher payday. Glasgow or a Austin Bryth. In a 8 mil range. I think he wants to fix the oline with a vet instead of relying on a rookie to start. If they think Bars is capable, my projections won't work .( I hope Bars ends up being good). At QB it will probably be Case Keenum or a Nate Sudfeld unless he can get a trade happening. OLB will be a Jason Pierre-Paul type or maybe try to get a Barrett type that explodes on a prove it deal. Jeremiah Attaochu or a Jordan Jenkins come to mind. S has some players worth looking at. Andrew Phillips, Jeff Heath and Vonn Bell are names to remember. He will bring in players at other positions but won't be spending any money on them. I think in the draft he could grab a plum WR or 2 OTs with the first 2 picks. Those 2 positions are rated the deepest and best value in the first 2 rounds of the draft. Could be a OLB if someone drops they like. He is going to have one surprise move, just don't know at what position.

Because of this performance, it pretty well tells me, he'll be gone before 43, maybe not?

A lot of things are being thrown out there right now, possible trade for Dalton comes up today. I think there is many players we would trade for or get as free agents is it were team friendly for the Bears. EXAMPLE , if Cincinnati would take a 7th rounder and eat 10 mil of his contract, I think we would make that trade. It's not going to happen. EXAMPLE, if Hooper would sign for a 3 year contract for 24 mil , we would pursue him but it's not going to happen. Pace will make I surprise move but it has to fit our cap, all of these other suggestions are more fantasy GM.
-
NY , so when Fuller had that bad year and we didn't pick up his option, you would have cut him or traded him for a 7th round pick? The first year we got AR12 and he didn't reach a 1000 season considering we were paying him like a #1, you wanted to trade him? The point I'm trying to make is every time someone doesn't have a good year , we can't go into a rebuilding situation. With the 12-4 season giving us such hope and then 8-8 kicking us in the nutz, we have to try to take a step forward with the talent we have. If we do everything you want to do, we would be going the wrong way.
-
I can honestly say if your trying to get rid of players, you don't get value back. If you get rid of these players that is putting us in a rebuild mode. First of all we lack high draft picks to replace and you always over pay to get players in free agency.
-
Been hearing everywhere about Hooper coming but we are not in a position to outbid anybody. Even if we would make an offer, it's not going to be enough to grab him.
-
Offensively, I don't see us getting rid of cheap weapons when we have a cap crunch . You want to bring in competition so be it. Last year he didn't play as well but that is more from poor offense, poor OL and bad MT. Plus he's not going to bring back more than maybe a 6th if your lucky. We are going to add speed not get rid of it.
-
I think in adding a WR he's looking for a T. Hill clone. It's not just straight line speed but quickness and explosiveness. Peoples-Jones fills that roll better and also has some size. i Would be happy with any of them choices.
-
Pace does many surprising things but I doubt he spends 10 to11mil on a TE . I think the Harris signing suggests he's not going on a spending spree at TE. He's hoping Burton contributes and line up a lot of bodies to sort it out.
