I dont think its as bad as you say but we do need 4 new bodies on the OL and DL. I think we will be drafting between 5-7. In that spot we can have a choice of the top 2 OL prospects in the draft. We grab a LT, Jones has fallen off, make him the swing T and he will be okay as a backup. Kiran was brought in to compete at LT but not this year, you draft Will Campbell/LSU that could play several positions. Who ever wins the LT battle, the other guy goes to LG. Bring back Jenkins to compete for that spot at a team friedly contract.(injuries) We have 4 top 72 picks. No center is rated hiring than a late 2nd round so i suspect we can get a good prospect in the 3rd round. Resign Shelton , Bates is already here( may not be for long) and have them compete for OC. Get Trey Smith ( I dont care what it costs) for RG. Wright/RT has been up and down but still has great upside. I think that fixes the OL. Dont resign Allen that is a luxury a bad team cant afford. Bring in some later picks to compete, Scott is still on the roster but dont expect anything. Kmet is an above average TE that has simplily not been given enough targets this yr to look good. Everett hasnt showed anything because he isnt part of the offensive plan but he is signed for next yr, might as well just give him some snaps. Because of the emotional reaction to a 7 game losing streak we are in (burn it down) mode. We have some good players, Caleb Williams and cap space/draft capital. If we could fire Poles and bring in a Belicheck type, it could save our future. they are not hiring a 20 mil a yr guy, so forget the hero hire. If we keep changing everything every 3 yrs, we will be always be in chaos. Since we have Caleb now, we need to find stabity at least with Poes staying in place of which I dont think is getting fired anyways. So Poles will have to make the right hire but we have to leave Warren out of it. He's the person that blow off a Harbaugh talk. (clashed as Big 10 commish). Vrabel, Gruden, I dont want a new coach type learning curve. With 4 yrs of Caleb left we need to roll day one. With a good coach hire, and some new bodies we should be a winning team next yr.

I havent able to read minds for about 20 yrs now, clearly you're right, why would an iconic franchise want to win to preserve the name.
-
Clearly the owners have an inept way to run a franchise. They want to win as badly as other owners but they get in their own way. Until they sell it fans will have to deal with the mistakes they make. Its plain to see they try to control what the GM and president does. When we get new people, we blame them for chaos when its the brass . We hear all kinds of stories about who might be the problem but none it matters where the fault falls. Poles has fixed the cap and brought in talent in his third yr. He seems like the smartest guy in the room by some of his actions. Warren is a polititian and people point to him to be the guy to fix it, he's not experienced enough to do it. He's going to get the stadium built and runs for Mayor of Chicago. We have to trust Poles to figure it out. He may luck out and find the next coach already on the team, Brown, and OC in Beatty. If they go to a hiring contest George s going to get involved and we'll be back wondering if its the right guy. The key to this team is Caleb and might as well keep it as stable as possible with him working with Brown and Beatty . The next 5 games determines if they stay or not.

SF is 2 games out in their division at 5-7. They have 2 division games left. No way a Shanahan will let then check out. he's telling them if they win out , they can make the playoffs. They have superior coaching but their injuries put them at a disadvantage, I think its going to come down to the end of the game and the more physical team will win. If DJ Moore and Swift play we have a shot, if not ?????

Poles has much more experience with the interworking of the footbsll side than Warren. Warren is a lawyer by trade and built a stadium, he didnt all of a sudden become a football survant. That would be like turning the coach search over to George, just a business CEO, of which probably has final say anyways and why everything is always failing.
-
I think we can find reasons to hire someone or reasons not to according whether you like him or not. Belicheck has been fired twice but everyone knows he's a major talented coach. I think , like you, if will be a smooth transisition to keep a coach that has helped Caleb play better, shows play calling ability and can keep the same offensive system for next yr. If Brown goes at least 3-2 and the offense is much better its a no brainer. A new coach may want a different roster, may like a 3-4 defense, add a new offense that will have a learning curve for a young QB. Stability is not over rated, quicker to get to the promise land.

I thought Love had an intercetion?
-
Poles took a GM job with the parameter of he had bosses that interject into his job. There is enough noise to suspect some of it is true. I think he is a smart man and will try to overcome something he has no control over. Until ownership changes we cant do anything about interference from the owners. We can just hope Poles gets what he wants. Why would any of that change if we hired all new people? Its best to roll with a GM that had made positive effects on the roster and cap space.
-
We get to watch in real time, him audition for the job.

It may not be Trey Smith but any vet help at the top of talent scale will not be cheap. The OL has been a big puddle of mud this yr. Injuries come into play but I think he brings one quality FA to stabilize the OL. he will add a couple rookies but rookies have learning curves. The experiment with Nate Davis a above average talent at 10 mil a yr didnt work out. He will pay more for a better option. Last year, Lions brought in Kevin Zeitler at 35 for 6 mil but you take chances on older players. We need a fix now while Caleb has 4 more yrs small cap space left. Dave Dalman is a talented center that's a FA this yr and the Falcons will have cap problems next yr. Maybe they go after him. Humphrey is making 18 mil a yr as the top center and Dalman will get at leat 12+ Maybe they grab him, brig back Jenkins, and draft a pouple of OGs. Next yr the OL has to be ready to go, they cant experiment anymore, Smith or Dalman would solidify a younger line.
-
I think if they draft a LT high, they let him and jones battle for the spot and loser is swing T. Also Kiran name will come into play since Poles drafted him for competion at LT. One of them may be shifted to OG. Since Poles was in KC when they drafted Trey Smith, i think he goes after him to anchor the right side of the line. him and Wright would bully players on defense. Chiefs effective cap space next yr is 5.7 mil. They just dont have the money to keep Smith. Smith will commmand 20 + mil a yr and I think Poles fits that in his cap space.

Im not sure there is any inside sources that leak information from Halas Hall. Poles draft choices were always a surprise and not the gereral plubic thought. Its just clickbait coming from jouralists trying to make story. Florio suggests the Bears trade for a coach and its gets blown up, like that is a Bears choice. They are not doing that. They are not paying anybody 15-20 mil to coach here that takes some coaches off the board. They have to finish paying Flus 5 mil for 1 or 2 yrs. George isnt a big money guy. Gruden was making 10 mil a yr when he got canceled. I would say he would want 10-12mil to coach to get back to the NFL. I have heard Johnson will want 10 mil as the hot hire. Belichick is getting north of 15 mil. Vrabel got a 9.5 mil extension in 2021. he will cost 10-12 mil. If Brown excels the rest of the year, he will probably make 6-8 mil as a HC. That sounds more like a George hire to me.
-
They are not trading for a coach when competant people are avaiable. they are building something and have QB of the future here now with lots of assets to win with. They dont need a miracle worker to change the path. I read where last year Harbaugh wanted to meet wth the Bears, Poles was interested and Warren nixed it. He had a riff with Jim while he was Big 10 Comish. I think a lot is coming to light about Poles wanted to make positive changes and was getting slammed upstairs. I dont know how good Brown is as a coach but i like the way he handles himself. We shouldnt overlook a gift in our house already if he wins. 5-0 or 4-1, he becomes the leader of the pack. If 3-2, a long look.

I just goggled it and there was so much information on it, didnt find any reason to be specific. The PFF website states that all NFL have customized subs foe each team. I think the reports come from Sports Management Worldwide ( an organization). It said 32 teams, over 100 colleges and 9 CFL teams use their services. I think the biggest problem with Braxton is exactly what Mongo and Ashkum said, its not strengh as much as he lets players outleveage him when setting his base. He is excellent ar run blocking and would not open up his stance inside like he does on the outside.
-
I think its an imperfect system but there are NFL teams that subscribe to them that think differently. They do customized stats for every team in the league and they pay for it. Many journalist love them. I see several snaps where he looks bad but they look at every snap and compare to other OTs in the league. I dont watch all the Ts in the league, so maybe every player has several bad snaps a game. I take PFF, my eye test and how the NFL rates then to form my opinion.
-
Its a big mess but since none of them will be leaving the Bears anytime soon, might as well go with, Poles wanted to do the right thing, and the brass wouldnt let him. Franchise isnt being sold anytime soon Warren will be here until the stadium is done and then run for Mayor of Chicago Poles is safe for one more year. Like you said before, the coach hire is the most important asset for this franchise but we have to wait 2 months to find out.
-
This I will say he is a good run blocker, if Poles has him in the mix for several positions, let the best man win. He justs needs to bring in competition at several spots. 3 draft picks and Trey Smith.
-
I understand your take on PFF, a very flawed system but the most complete place to compare players. Trent Williams is the best LT, but has a ton of penalties, that counts. What PFF tells me is the OTs are at least average OTs in the league. Our main problem is IOL, do you agree?
-
Rumors are just rumors until they prove the truth. Poles seems like a realist as a football guy. Loyal to Flus but when he lost the team willing to move on. so I have a tendancy to believe he wanted him let go after the AZ and NE games , clearly the team quit on him. I think his sounding board is Warren and Warren answers to George. They wouldnt let him. They got embarassed in Detroit, and changed their opinion. Poles biggest mistake was being loyal to Flus after finishing 5-3 at the end of last season. Things were looking up. 2nd was his OL build that blew up with Davis checking out and Bates being injured for most of the year. Shelton is actually our most consistant OL. I think I seen he was ranked as the 6th rated OC according to PFF (boo) Adam? When he sees a weakness he attacks it, I think he brings in Trey Smith at RG, and drafts the crap oot of OL. Brings back Jenkins and Shelton on team friendly deals and best man wins. Next yr Kiran A. will compete with Jones at LT and be competant depth for who loses.

good post

If Brown wins more than he loses, he may just be given the job. Look at salary, problably the cheapest option of which George will look at. MY CHOICES: Vrabel-Gruden- Brown Does Johnson have the smack in the mouth persona? I dont know
-
Agree ,questions with the OCs that have never been HC before. Vrabel will punch you in the mouth, experience and have had success, what he didnt have was the QB.
-
When Dan Campbell got the job in Detroit he said ("We're gonna kick you in the teeth, and when you punch us back we're gonna smile at you, and when you knock us down we're going to get up, and on the way, we're going to bite a kneecap off. We're going to stand up, and it's going to take two more shots to knock us down. And on the way up, we're going to take your other kneecap, and we're going to get up, and it's gonna take three shots to get us down. And when we do, we're gonna take another hunk out of you.") Media was laughing at him for his neanderthal comments. Now look at him. Toughness counts, part of the reason Flus got the job with the HITS principal but he didnt back it up. What I see ouythere that would do that is Vrabel and Bilicheck, Bills not coming here.
