I think we are covered at NT. Sounds like Ego and Ratliff both fit their. Not sure what our ends look like. Would presume Jared Allen isn't a fit in a 3-4. Shea is a fit (well at least the guy the Bears thought they drafted) but that ship has probably sailed. I'm not enough of a 3-4 expert to know exactly. We are already extremely thin at LB so maybe our LB's play better in a 3-4 or we just now need to make linebacker and even bigger need. Presume Houston and Young are actually decent fits in a 3-4 on an end (well when they are healthy). Jones and Bostic are probably our two starters. No idea what they do with Shea and by all accounts Greene is horrible.

Ed Donatel
http://www.49ers.com/team/coaches/Ed-Donat...a9-ed279c6168b8 His BIO is outstanding (for a secondary coached). Cool that he coached my college's football team (which no longer exists) in 1989. Extremely experienced for a DB coach (given his track record as a DC).

Some coaches let go
Our Dline coach and our DB coach, Hoke. I had read something yesterday about Bears hiring an assistant DB coach from Denver but never saw another report about it (so not sure if it was ever confirmed). Al Groh, our WR coach is also not on that list. Hoke / Groh and the Dline coach were probably the 3 guys I would have said I'd have no problem being around. Note: There are other guys I'm sure that aren't on that list, whether assistants or RB coaches, etc.

Rob Chudzinski
Chud would be such a great hire, imo. I like him more than pretty much every other name dropped. He has done good work with some pretty mediocre QB's in his time.

Adam Jahns @adamjahns 1m1 minute ago Mobile, AL Source confirms #Bears hiring of Vic Fangio. Source also said that Joe DeCamillis and Mel Tucker were told they were out from get go. Adam Jahns @adamjahns 3s3 seconds ago Mobile, AL Sources: #Bears also have parted ways with LB coach Reggie Herring, TE coach Andy Bischoff and special teams assistant Dwayne Stukes.

@JasonLaCanfora: I would expect Ed Donatell to be joining Fangio in Chicago as DB coach. They are close and did great work together in San Francisco

Rob Chudzinski
He interviewed for the Rams position and think it is expected that he will be allowed to interview for Bears. I think Pagano knows you don't hold a guy like Chud back.

Excellent hire. Interesting, looks like we are headed to a 3-4 defense.

Bears request an interview with Vic Fangio DC of the 49ers
Would appear he is headed to the Skins, but some rumors that it might not be done and have seen one report indicating he is thinking twice and might be coming to Chicago. All major reporters seem to be indicating Washington but not done yet (maybe).

Rob Chudzinski
Chud would be a fantastic hire. I like him more than all of the names previously mentioned. I sure hope we could get him.

John Fox's Introductory Press Conference
What a press conference. This guy is tough and a football coach.
-
Mularkey requested for interview
How can TB deny him. Is he assistant head coach and TE coach currently? I like Mularkey. Extremely competent.

John Fox Officially hired as new HC for Bears
4 yr deal. Awesome!!!

What's the hold up?
By the way, I'm not trying to take credit away from Belliceck, I think he is great, but I ultimately think that to reach those levels (where you consistently win and win multiple championships), you have to have an elite QB. Don Shula might have been one of the only exceptions in the last 30-40 years.
-
What's the hold up?
I actually think Fox is a guy that with an elite QB can reach those stratospheres. I think Belli is 20 games under .500 in his career without Tom Brady where as Fox is above .500 without Peyton Manning.

Rumor: John Fox To Coach Bears
I'm guessing a 5yr deal between 30 & 35M.

With Glazer in on this, now we know it is pretty much their. Still...got to sign on the dotted line.

Rumor: John Fox To Coach Bears
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 4m4 minutes ago #Bears are set to hire John Fox as the next coach, source confirms. He’s already making preparations for taking it (as @JasonPhilCole said) Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 2m2 minutes ago #Bears zeroed in on John Fox from the start, but GM Ryan Pace kept his options open until this morning. In talks with Fox now, as ESPN said Adam Jahns @adamjahns 2m2 minutes ago Chicago, IL Team source confirms that negotiations are going on between #Bears and John Fox. At this point, it's fully expected to get done. David Haugh @DavidHaugh 49s49 seconds ago Source confirms Bears, John Fox deep in negotiations to become next head coach and discussions have been on schedule, in positive direction. Jeff Dickerson @ESPNChiBears 8s8 seconds ago 3 good names to consider for Fox's defensive coordinator: Dennis Allen, Mike Nolan & Mike Smith. #Bears

What's the hold up?
Instant stability and credibility which will allow us to get the ship in the right direction and get to being a regular playoff team and a contender. That is really the first step.
-
What's the hold up?
I think this is more to do with Pace and Fox ensuring they are extremely comfortable with each other as they get ready to work with each other and build this franchise into a perennial contender and hopefully occasional superbowl champion!!! The health and success of that relationship between the GM / Coach is a very crucial one (you obviously need talent) but by having that relationship you ensure the talent and people you bring together all fit into the greater scheme, etc.

Rumor: John Fox To Coach Bears
This is fantastic. Schefty in on this too. @AdamSchefter 7m7 minutes ago John Fox’s deal to become Bears HC is “all but done,” per sources. @JasonPhilCole reported Thursday that Fox would be hired in Chicago.

What Are Your Picks For The Bears at 7
Collins at 7 would be a total joke. Collins isn't close to the best safety to come out of Bama in the Saban era and the safeties and secondary players who have came out of Bama have largely not lived up to their hype. Saban has a great reputation of protecting his guys and just look at all the big plays Bama gave up anyway and a lot of those happened in direction of Collins.

Cardale Jones
Not so fast. He is staying. Evidently Tedd Ginn Sr. did a lot of convincing.

Rumor: John Fox To Coach Bears
Exactly. I think in-person stuff can be critical.
