  1. I've been saying it since last year, this is a different Cutler and we are seeing him grow. I hope Dilfer is right and he can be top 5, but I have no doubt he's top 10 and will have a very good season. He's been good in every game. Hasn't been great yet, had moments of great, but those have been washed by moments of bad. 2 of his 4 picks have been on his teammates not being where they should be (Bennett / Marshall).
  2. Every team does. If I'm a Pats fan I'm doing it for Brady as well. Bottom line is QB's can only do so much on their own. Look at Brees record so far this year, look at Brady right now with crap oline and crap weapons around him. The very best play in consistent systems and have steady protection. Heck, look what happened to Eli last year when his oline deteriorated. My whole point to Cutler is why waste resources on finding another guy, when the one we have is fully capable of being a top 6-10 QB. Go with that and spend rest of the resources on other areas and ensure we put the right systems around him and maybe then he can be catapulted to a higher level. We are getting there from an offensive side but defensively so many holes to plug.
  3. I think the LB's. The middle of the field was torched and the majority of it was in the range where the LB's should be helping out. Nickel coverage was also torched significantly. Safety play was bad as well but lack of pass rush was also a huge factor.
  4. Sorry, I had apologized in a later post. I thought he was giving up on the Bears, which is something I find inexcusable.
  5. See I assume all Bears game vs. Packers will end in a loss. Makes it much easier to watch. I also think my young daughter has helped me. I tend to get more excited with the good moments but less disappointed with the bad. Bottom line, both teams have terrible defenses and the Packers have a top QB in the league, who I personally think is the very best QB in the league. Bottom line, add in a below average special teams unit as well, and we are going to have a hard time winning those games. I still am optimistic because we've seen progress out of younger players on D and our offense has continued to make improvements and well quite frankly I think it will keep getting better and get more and more on the same page with additional continuity and not many teams have Rodgers. I think we are a somewhere between an 8 and 11 win team with the most likely outcome being 9-10 wins. PS: Watch the Patriots game yesterday, goes to show that even the very best can be pretty bad when they have a poor line and or limited to no talent at the skilled positions. I also saw Brady throw yet another pick to a wide out who ran the wrong route (again something that happened a lot with the Bears in the early Cutler era). I still think a lot about being a good QB has to do with surrounding the QB with the right personnel and consistent systems. Most important being a good line and the consistent system. We are just starting to do that and we will continue to see strides. I'm calling it right here, people will get too high / low this year, but next year the Bears will be in the NFC championship game and quite possibly be super bowl champions. Remember this moment. I think our D will improve (and part of that may / may not be with a new coordinator depending on what happens).
  6. I thought you were giving up on watching the team. I'm all for various viewpoints. I think in my statement you can see I don't think Cutler is a top 5 QB and don't think he ever will be. I think he is top 10 though and I think you can win with him, however, it can't be without help from other phases. He is not good enough to do that, imo. I hope he proves me wrong but his long track record speaks for itself. I think he's been good this season though and while I put the week 1 loss on him and others for turnovers, this loss is on our defense and they can not be absolved. Bears need to fight to maintain .500 up until week 8 and then at that point, we see if they can break past that, imo. Schedule is just very tough early on and the number of road games is just shocking. Have to win against Carolina cause I'm afraid what Brady might do to our defense.
  7. Don't let the door hit you. Everyone knew we had a tough early schedule and GB had backs up against the wall. We will lose all the time if we ask Cutler to be better then Rodgers. Rodgers is better, hands down, he's the best. If we are going to win, we need Jay to play well but we need other phases to show up. Defense was absolutely horrendous.
  8. I got one over the Xmas holidays too. I still have no idea who gave it to me. Shipped to my house with no card, no nothing. Hopefully it brings good luck!!!
  9. Whose injury was season ending?
  10. That 99 draft class, which included a massive bust like McNown was pretty good. Booker, Holdman, Colvin, Azumah,
  11. That is good news. Having at least Mundy back will be huge.

    New KR

I could have done a better job then Senorise Perry. Catch ball, put knee on ground...start on 20 yard line.
  13. Are stingers usually one of those things that you can recover from relatively quickly? Am presuming that is the case?
  14. Lets hope the injuries to Mundy / Conte are not significant. My presumption is they are going to be more careful with Conte and let him heal up. Curious to see what the word is on Mundy. I am okay with Vereen back there and getting the experience (although he might get burned) but it would be nice for one of our veterans to be there to help the cause, especially against an elite QB like Rodgers. PS: Mundy looked like he was my speed when he was returning that TD, haha.
  15. Offense needs to figure out a way to run the ball consistently. It will open up so many more things. Right now, we tend to be hit or miss because we drop back too much and thus things become a bit more predictable, especially against a D like the Jets that can generate pressure.

    Game 3

Good assessment. Three things stood out. We had a few cases of the drops last night, we made stupid penalties, and well, tied into that last one, our special teams continues to be a bunch of knuckleheads with the penalties.
  17. He was rejuvenated leaving Chicago. He wouldn't have done that with us. He looked faster and more explosive then he has in years. Clearly him and Cutler didn't click and the fresh start gave him some more motivation. Also, its hard for a QB to like you when you consistently line up in the wrong spot and drop balls. It is unfortunate because at times, Hester looked like he could have been a pretty good wideout. Too bad that when Trestman asked him to play wideout a year ago he said no.
  18. He looked like another player. I haven't seen that sort of explosiveness out of Hester in years. Makes sense since he eventually said he wasn't happy.
  19. Yeah...I wouldn't quite jump to conclusions like that. Jets have one of the best D's in the league and it is a road game. I expect this to be a very difficult game.
  20. He had shown some nice things. Disappointing.
  21. Just a total bummer. Urlacher had the better peak in the recent Bears era but Tillman was my favorite Bear of the last 10+ years and one of my favorite Bears all time. He was both a stud on the football field and a person who did a lot of good off the football field. For his season and potentially career to end this way stinks but I want to thank him for all of the fantastic memories and the fact that he represented our franchise so proudly both on and off the field. Thank you Peanut and Get Better!!!
  22. I agree, I said they were ok and by ok we had like another 4 penalties and one net 20 or so yard punt, etc. My new definition of Joey D okay is being one of the 5 worst units in the league vs. the absolute worst. He is the worst.
  23. He's played very well this season.
