He was talking about moving down and instead of getting a 2nd round pick getting Osi. Than with the 1st round later on, he'd sign Wallace (and thus you lose that 1st rounder). So essentially, our 1st round pick becomes (in a round about way), Wallace & Osi. We still have our 2nd pick. I think there are far worse things that could happen and I've already said if I were going to sign Wallace I'd first trade down and get an extra 2nd (or at a minimum an early 3rd).

Simple, because the difference between our 1st rounder and the Giants 1st rounder is pretty significant. It is the exact reason why if I were the Bears and what I wanted wasn't there, I'd have zero problem moving down towards the end of the 1st round to add in an additional 2nd rounder (since the difference via draft value would be of a 2nd rounder). I'd be fine with a 1st, 2 2nd's, and 2 3rd's in what is a deep draft in a couple of the areas the Bears need to beef up.

Louis looked like a pretty good guard to me.

Lance Louis, Edwin Williams, Chris Williams, and Chris Spencer. 4 guys that can play guard (+ Garza, who is our starting center and previously was a long time guard).

I think the Bears have a ton of OG depth.

If Martin is there, I would be surprised if the Bears didn't pikc him up. No way are they picking up 2 OT's though.

Haha....When I saw it, I thought the same thing. We have a lot of healthy disagreement here as a board (some fans in one camp, some in another) but this is clearly a unanimous upgrade!!!! Not too often a fan base celebrates a guy's release as much as we will Omilaye's, haha.

I have zero problem with that. I think it is a major need. I tend to think we probably would be better off moving down and than using 2 of our 1st 3 picks but if it happens to be that the BPA is a wideout at both of our 1st picks, than so be it. Bears need massive help at the wideout position.

I haven't read too many articles speaking with confidence that Knox will be back and healthy. That was a really really serious injury he suffered.

While I realize it would be great to have perfect wideouts, Roy still has some value. He knows the offense, has some sort of relationship with our QB, and is a decent wideout. He's not near as terrible as some people on here make him out to be. The reality is the Bears basically have one wideout on our roster and he's been injury prone (Bennett). Knox is hurt, Sazenbacher is a UFA (smart player but physically, very limited) and Hester is a special teams guy (maybe he makes it as a wideout and with enough other weapons, he pans out, but he too has been a bit injury prone at the wide receiver spot). That means, at a minimum, the Bears need to add 3 wide-outs (replace Knox, Williams, and Hurd). However, I'd argue you probably need to add another (replace Sanzy or just add overall depth given the Bears injury problems and lack of depth). Say you sign one, you still need to draft 2. At that point, you can't pin early season expectations on your young wideouts kicking butt, so you probably need to have another cheap veteran (insert Roy Williams). I doubt the Bears do this much at the position but in my opinion they need to. If Knox was healthy, I wouldn't be as ademant, but you can't expect a 2nd round wideout and a 3rd round pick to just kick butt from the start, so you have to figure those guys grow into the position, which means you need to bring in 2 vets this off-season (1 bigger name; 1 solid but cheap guy that you can go to if needed).

Pool jumping guy was in the 3rd round, IIRC. I don't like taking pure reaches (or physical tool picks) in the 1st round. There has to be some sort of production (or at least major reason for why they didn't produce) to take them super early (when compared to other guys).

I'd be perfectly fine with that. This of course is assuming the tackle is Martin. I'm not sure the Bears could do that (given they would be ignoring wide-out). However, in theory, they could still draft a wideout with there 2nd and 3rd rounder (1st 3rd rounder) plus sign someone like Wayne. And I personally think that could be a win-win situation, especially given the depth of this draft. You might even have to resign Roy to like a 1.5M deal (cause you aren't going to find a guy like him for much cheaper, imo).

I thought the year we were leapfrogged was when the Bears wanted Andre Carter (DE from Cal) and everyone knew it and we than missed out on him. But I might be remembering incorrectly. This was the same year we ended up with Terrell. Koren Robinson was picked right after DT.

A lot of guys don't always match the production. It is why the draft is so hard. You have to weigh what you think players tools and abilities are with what there production is. Sometimes guys have zero production or limited production and break out. There are reasons for this (e.g.; new at football; played multiple positions, etc). It is hard thing to do and it is why scouting can be so difficult.

Remember that quite well and I completely agree. The Bears basically got nothing out of Carimi and to be frank, we don't know anything about Gabe. He got very little practice time and Tice apparently liked him enough that he called him our best olineman. I'm hoping he'll be 100% and this injury will be behind him (who knows though) and he should have a full off-season to improve.

Very athletic. I'd say the Bears are far more likely to target end. It is supposed to be a really deep draft at the defensive tackle position though and the Bears opened up a spot when they cut Adams. However, I'd be quite surprised if they targeted a DT with one of our 1st 3 picks. If we were running the old school Jauron system (w/Greg Blache), this guy would have been a perfect fit, but it looks like he is more of a 3-4 nose tackle than a typical 4-3 dt.

Which is why I think it could be possible the Bears move down (if the top wideouts are gone and the next set is a bit lower).

To be fair, while the Bears oline was never great, most statistics had it being better than horrible and improving. I believe a few key statistics had them in the top 15-20 range prior to Cutler going down (+ the combination of Williams/Carimi). Again, this isn't an indicationg the oline was playing great, rather, that it had showed some serious progress under Tice (especially when compared to the overall talent level). But I can definitely agree with the above thoughts and if that is how the Bears feel (and they think Williams can play tackle), than I could see the team spending money at guard. $45M is a ton to spend on a guard though.

I think if the Bears go with a guard, it is because I am wrong (and Jason is right) and the Bears still think that Williams can play tackle (or at least RT), with Carimi playing the other spot. If the Bears think that is the case, than Grubbs makes sense. Either way he immediately becomes the Bears best lineman, the hard part is that guard is just not near the position of need compared with tackle, however, again, if the Bears really think Williams can play tackle, than that is another story. I personally think the Bears don't think he can, however, I could be wrong. I just think if they did, he would have played there as opposed to Webb (unless Tice just felt that Williams was more versatile and while he was the better tackle, the combination of Webb and Williams on the line at the same time was better; vs. anyone else the Bears would have put out at guard to start the year).

They still have Toeania and Okoye too and it sounds like Emery has been talking with Okoye's agent. I expect the Bears to sign Okoye. With those 4, I don't know if the Bears will add anyone via FA. Supposedly they have a guy on there practice squad they like a decent amount, so he can slide in as the 5th tackle.

Randle is one of the many guys that looks like he has some upside. I'd have no problem moving down a bit and nabbing a wideout with 2 of our top 3 picks (plus signing one). Yes, the Bears need that much help at wideout. Put a DE in the other spot and sign a FA guard and corner. Maybe even a safety too (or a LT).
