  1. I believe it was important for Angelo to stick behind his coach. Bottom line I think the best thing organizations can do is allow the people who they have hired to do there jobs do there jobs. Angelo is the guy who is bringing in the personell and while he should take input from Lovie the final call is Angelo's. I expect the same from the coaching staff with Lovie getting input from Angelo but the final say being Lovie's. Lovie has still earned that power, imo, and I will continue to give him the benefit of the doubt. If the team has a bad year next season, than I will start to point a finger. Bottom line this organization started improving when Ted Phillips came in and brought in good football people and let everyone do there jobs and I don't want to see the Bears go around that. If Angelo doesn't trust Lovie to hire/bring in the correct coaches than he shouldn't be our head coach.
  2. Erik Ainge intrigues the heck out of me. I don't think he goes in the first two rounds, in fact he may even slide past the 3rd but I would have no problem if the Bears nabbed him with there 2nd 3rd round pick (which I think comes from the Chargers). He seems to have decent tools and has looked pretty darn solid in the game I saw when he was at Tennessee. If the Bears take a QB in the 3rd round or later I would like one of: Brennan (if he slides), Falco (I doubt he slides), Henne, Dixon (his injury will send him down and I would not be opposed to taking a chance on him late in the draft), Ainge, and Booty.
  3. I'll search around the web and see if there is some sort of add-on that can make things more threaded for those that prefer that option. I haven't seen anything more so than the outline view but if I can find something I'll definitely set it up.
  4. How do his tools grade out in terms of as an NFL player. Also, is he going pro?
  5. Isn't Rex' injury the reason the Bears ended up bringing Griese in as a backup. Basically Angelo knew he couldn't continue to count on Rex given the history and brought in some competition. I expect the Bears to bring a backup RB, resign Berrian (or make a hard push at doing so, maybe even franchising him, which will allow the Bears to get value via a draft pick for him), bring in a starting safety (who will take one of the safety spots with Brown being the other spot and Manning/McGowan/Payne backing up), and upgrade the oline. Aside from that I don't think the Bears will do anything too drastic and I hope they have a killer draft.
  6. Its funny, I think only one person picked the Pats.
  7. The thing I really like is Cameron's ability to work with young QB's. That alone makes him an ideal hire for a team that will likely have Rex/Orton and a 1st day draft pick on the roster. However, the Bears seem committed to Turner and given Ron having really only one truly bad year as an OC in his career I can't necessarily fault the Bears.
  8. That shouldn't be happening. Just make sure you are coming to www.talkbears.com and not http://talkbears.com For whatever reason the http://talkbears.com will always make you log back in while the other way won't. About 10 days ago, everyone would have been experiencing this problem because I was fiddling with something and screwed things up, which caused that to happen for about a day. But now there isn't any explanation (aside from the one explained above) for why that would be happening. It could be that somehow your computer is set not to accept cookies so it automatically deletes them after you leave the site.
  9. Baker looked pretty good to me, is a junior and seems to really have a nice frame. My only major question is whether he has the athletism to stick at LT in the NFL. I'm fairly confident he has all the ability to be a probowl RT, but if the Bears think he has the ability to be a probowl LT I'd be all about Baker.
  10. In the second half of the season Anderson was very mediocre. Anderson also had a better WR core than the Bears (By a long shot), and a better running game (including a superior oline). So bottom line, I truly don't see Anderson as an upgrade over Rex/Orton. I realize he's proven more than Kyle, but I think he's actually a pretty similar QB to Rex (except Rex has better tools but a little less size). Anderson's decision making IS suspect (and as far as I'm concerned Rex/Kyle are not going to cost a draft pick and there really isn't a major difference in terms of whose proven and who isn't). If Anderson was a UFA I may think a little bit different but he isn't.
  11. I am a pretty big fan of both of those guys. I'm sure one of them would be there in Rd2 and both contain something the Bears really don't have in the backfield (speed....now I know Wolfe is fast, but Patrick/Charles have the size of a starting RB). I would love to get Charles though, I think he is going to be an above average NFL starter.
  12. Those are my sentiments as well.
  13. He went from the Bears to the Raiders, than the Bucs and is now in North Carolina.
  14. Right now it looks like it is the end of him in Chicago. However, I think we'll know more when we see whether the Bears spend big bucks on other positions early in FA (ie the offensive line position).
  15. Whoops, just checked my email and its there. Working on it right now.
  16. I would be surprised if North Carolina didn't make there way into a bowl game this upcoming year and into the top 25 within two years. Butch Davis has been doing a fantastic job recruiting there and Shoop is a good offensive mind. He didn't work out in Chicago but he was very well respected by Jon Gruden in Tampa. Than again I never thought Shoop was a bad coach, I just didn't think he was ready for the job the Bears gave him. Had you had him working with a veteran good offensive mind and groomed him a bit better the Bears may have had a high quality OC on there hand. Of course I was one of the few people (despite me crapping all over Turner most of this year and being about the first to call for the firing of Shea) who was never too big on the Shoop worse thing in the world bandwagon.
  17. Shoot me an email with the stuff at Bullsback@gmail.com and I'll get it up. I'm also going to link things just below the header area so people will be able to see it throughout the year.
  18. Henne has the tools to make all the good throws and there is a decent chance he ends up being a day 2 pick. I'd have zero problem with Chad Henne.
  19. Is Moreno thinking about going pro after just a year of college?
  20. Mike Nolan is making a major push in San Francisco to convince ownership to offer Martz the position. I heard John Clayton saying he figures Martz will be available for a bit because he is likely going to get a head coaching interview or two and he will try for those before settling as an OC.
  21. I was going off the teams that were put into the BCS. I agree completely that Mizzu should be in over Kansas but I wasn't changing the actual BCS teams just the schedule showing how much better they could have had things.
  22. I would have liked to see the following: Hawaii vs Kansas (two spread type offenses go up against each other for an amazingly fun game to watch, even though both teams are the worse two teams in the BCS) Georgia vs USC (with exception to OU, you are talking about two of the best non championship teams) Virginia Oklahoma vs Virginia Tech - Two damn good programs and what were two of the top ranked teams all season long battle against each other West Virginia vs Illinois - West Virginia is the better version of Illinois offense (ie, Slayden/White >>> Mendenhall/Juice) but the Illini have Benn and some good playmakers and I think this would have been a fun matchup given the amount of athletes that would be on the field. God would those games have been better than the crap we've got to see thus far.
  23. So my guess is McFadden, Stewart and than Mendenhall. You are probably right that all three of those guys go in RD1 but are there any other under-classmen or other backs that could enter in and give a better shot at Mendenhall sliding into the 2nd? Given tonight's performance I Find it unlikely but gosh darn was he impressive against USC (which has an awesome defense).
