Want to see a mock you're going to hate?
I would not take the 3rd Defensive Lineman 3rd in the draft.

Want to see a mock you're going to hate?
They obviously just put random players in slots and then fill in the team later. This has to be one of the worst mock drafts I've seen in quite some time. Was that posted on April 1st?

How Much Would it Cost to Trade for Sherman?
I would be ok if he were 26, but approaching 30 for that contract. If we were a little closer and only a CB away from SB contention, then I would be all in. I just don't think we are there yet.

Bears re-sign Jay Cutler to 2-yr deal
https://twitter.com/adamschefter/status/839...6200196?lang=en Wtf?

Would you?
If we did that, I would look to move up into the back end of the 1st with either CLE's or our 2nd round pick and a 3rd rounder. Then I would package a 5th rounder with one of our 4th's to move back into the 3rd. That would give us 2x 1st, 1x 2nd, 2x 3rd. The other option (if we have the first pick in the 2nd round which seems like it is always traded for), is to trade down from that pick and pick up a mid-2nd and another 3rd. We would end up with 1x 1st, 2x 2nd, 3x 3rd (6 picks in first 3 rounds).

Las Vegas Raiders
As long as they play on Kodiak Island, that way I could visit. So maybe the Kodiak Bears?

Interesting mock
No OT or DL, but fills QB, TE, WR, and DB holes. Based on biggest holes to fill, right not Unrein is the worst starter on the team (according to PFF). For position groups, OT and WR are two of the worst groups overall. So I like getting 2x DB's, but it's hard to go OLB when we need help at OT and DL.

Las Vegas Raiders
I haven't lived in the Chicago area in 25 years and would not follow them if they left. Just think of the Oklahoma City Thunder Bears or Columbus Blue Bears. There is no way I am rooting/following them at that point. For me, being away from the area, the sports teams allow me to stay connected to the area and feel like I am still there. I wouldn't feel that way with the El Paso Osos.

Bears CB Deiondre Hall arrested
https://twitter.com/patrickfinley/status/846179084858155008 Ugh, not what we needed. Athletes amaze me, you play a kids game for a job, are given millions of dollars, then you go out and act like you are unemployed and 17 yrs old.

2017 Everyone Agrees Mock
Here are my new priorities: QB, OT, TE/WR, DL, DB, K Our first 5 picks should be QB, OT, either a TE/WR, DL, and any DB position (any order, BPA). Then use the 6th and 7th on TE/WR/DB or K.

Dion Sims
He seems like a better blocker than Bennett and someone who can break some tackles.
-
Dirty Sanchez to sign
I know, but he is a backup, so it is good to have some experience at that position in the locker room, even for Glennon.

Walter Football Mock-We all can like
Man, I really like this draft, but I hate missing out on OL when we really need some help at OT.
-
Dirty Sanchez to sign
Sanchez is a pretty solid backup at this point in his career (I can't believe he is already 30). If you take away his name and just look at his numbers, he is a serviceable QB with a winning record. That is hard to do in the NFL. He has a better winning pct than Cutler, Cousins, Cassel, Kaepernick, Bortles, Tannehill, and Bradford. Just think, he is now the winningest QB on the roster with 37 career wins. That is more than Glennon+Shaw+Hoyer+Barkley combined. So I don't know how this makes us worse. If anything, we added some veteran presence to the QB room.

Walter Football Mock-We all can like
This list makes me believe we will only select 1 DB in the entire draft. We have a bunch of young guys and Safety seems like Demps+ one of Amos, HJQ, Bush, DHC, and Prosinski. I also think McManis makes it as the primary Special Teamer.

Free Agent Summary
Added all the contract numbers in the first post. Wheaton is now the highest paid WR on the roster. Wright's cap hit is under $2mil and lowest among new FA signings. I doubt Royal lasts past the draft.
-
Adrian Peterson
I would say no to AP or any other veteran RB at this point. AP is over the hill and I don't know how his presence would impact the locker room as this team tries to form an identity.

Sidney Jones CB
Can we afford to do that right now? I could see if we traded down and picked up extra picks, then used one of those on him, but I don't think we can afford to do that with our current picks, and I assume others are thinking of doing the same thing so a 4th will probably be too late.

Welcome to Chicago Mr. Cooper!
Sometimes you have to verbalize things to make them more visceral. If everyone buys into that way of thinking and puts the work in as a team, they can achieve a lot more than just working for a paycheck.

Thinking out of the box
Whitehair was too good to move. Same with Long. Just not the same on the outside. I would leave Whitehair-Long-Sitton inside and let them be dominant.
-
Zach Miller.....
Now the oldest player on the Bears roster at 32, with only 7 players 30 and older. Porter and Royal are two of them and potential cuts this offseason. The only free agent we brought in this year over 30 was Demps.

check list
fwiw, we also re-signed Barth. QB - I still think we draft one, but I can see a mid round pick now (4th-5th) OL - Compton is a super swing tackle who played in the SB, might actually push for a starting position if Leno or Massie falter WR - If White is healthy (big if), WR Corps will at least be interesting with the ability to really stretch the field. TE - Overpaid for a blocking TE, but if he can catch a few more than he has previously, he might be worth it. Deep draft class, so I can see us drafting on early S - I love the signing, one off the league lead in INTs, so he is a playmaker too. With the other young guns back there (Amos, Bush, HJQ, Houston-Carson, etc), I can see us passing on a Safety in the draft. CB - Potentially 3/5 secondary starters replaced with Callahan and Amos remaining, secondary is already improved Who's next? I still think we can get an upgrade on the D-Line and that may be all we do until the draft besides bringing some guys in for competition.

More coming. OT and CB
This is just not true. Based on actual stats, Cooper was far superior than any CB on our roster. He led the Cardinals in INT's and Passes Defended, had a defensive TD, and was 3rd in tackles (first among CB's). Player A - 63 tackles, 4 INT, 11 PD Player B - 44 tackles, 3 INT, 6 PD Who would you want without knowing the names? A is Cooper and B is Patrick Peterson. PFF can't be used in a vacuum. It has to be taken into context. Cooper had 4 INT's and Demps had 6 (the league lead was 7), so it is clear the Bears were going after actual performance and not subjective analysis. Also, if we use PFF, then Amukamara was a steal coming in as the #25 CB. I think CB's are the hardest to grade because you don't know the coverage, and how do the grades differ when you are guarding the #1 and the other Corner is guarding the #2? Do you get a weighted grade for guarding a better WR or to the side of the field that favors the QB? Did you have top cover, shaded coverage, etc? You get a higher grade for passes defended or an incomplete (even if you did nothing to cause it) and a lower grade for a reception, TD, etc, regardless of how good your coverage was. PFF seems to be the best for QB, RB, TE, and WR, and possibly pass rusher, but beyond that, their grades can be a little off.
