  1. I can see it now, we trade Jones this offseason and then Benson gets hurt... go to a great backfield to a weak backfield. I just don't understand why they can't just co-exist like Addai and Rhodes did for Indy all season. So far 2007 is looking to be ugly for the Bears...
  2. I like Garcia's ability to get out of the pocket. He probably can sling the ball with the best of em. However, Rex has a better arm and is much younger. I'm guessing Rex will continue to be our starting QB for a long time. This was his first full season.. he played in a Superbowl in his first full season, not bad. Now there is no way he could get any worse... is there? If he gets better and better each year, than I expect to get back to the superbowl at least 1 more time with these core of players.
  3. If he competes w/ Griese, Grossman will win. I don't think Bears management has the balls to make a trade for an upgrade at the possition. I do know one thing though, McNabb is unhappy in Philly. Not that he's going anywhere. Grossman will be our starting QB in 2007 like it or not.
  4. Lets face it..its good for the NFL when the Bears succeed. Not to mention they were going up against an QB legend in his first ever Superbowl. I would love to see a Colts-Bears rematch in XLII.
  5. I think Benson will get a majority of the carries, but as we saw with this years playoffs the most successful teams (Colts, Bears and Saints) had the dual-back system. In this day in the NFL i truly believe you need that to win a superbowl. We kind of missed out on the gameplan since Benson was driven out of the game early. If this team wants to make it back to the promise land next year, they will need both of these guys to have great seasons. I really don't see how it will improve our team to trade TJ. Right now the teams biggest weakness is probably strong saftey (you can never count on Mike Brown being healthy for a duration of the season) another soft spot is the QB possition. Can Rex make plays? Hell yea he can. He helped take the BEars to the Superbowl. However, when he is trailing he seems to lay an egg under the pressure. I guess the Bears and all of us fans have to just bank on the 'hope' of Grossman coming back stronger, more experienced and SMARTER!
  6. I think Ron Turner's play calling was brutal in the 2nd half. You are down 22-17 and have the ball on the 50 and are driving the ball successfully with the dink and dunks, why the hell would you call a long pass in that situation?!? Granit Rex's throw was horrible, that is still no excuse for making an aggressive call like that in this game. Top 5 people that cost us this game are as follows: 1. Ron Turner- His play selection was just brutal most of the game (esp in the 2nd half) 2. Ron Rivera- THey play conservative as hell on defense if there is such a thing? Barely showed pressure or blitz. They were extremely aggressive vs New Orleans and it payed off. But for some reason they played into Peyton's hands and let them dink and dunk all the way till the red zone. 3. Rex Grossman- Did he forget how to lead the reciever? When does a QB throw up a jump ball like that? This isn't the game '500'. Berrian had the dbs beat also on that one play, but once again he under threw the ball and it cost us the game. Lets not forget all his fumbled snaps and his in ability to scramble for a first down, instead he throws an incomplete pass so instead of a potential 22-22 tie they had to settle for a field goal. 4. Defense line- They completely got dominated by the Colts O-line. Only one sack the WHOLE game! Give Peyton Manning time, your going to lose. 5. Lovie Smith- Many times during the game, the team looked nervous and didn't seem confident vs the Colts. To me that comes from the head coach. His pal simply out coached him, was more prepared, and was hungrier than Lovie. Maybe next time (if there will be?) He will come to the Superbowl on tuesday instead of Monday like Dungy did.
  7. Being dat we are playin the Indianapolous Colts for da superbowl...we do you dink would win in da indy 500... Lovie and Ditka riding da bear bus or Danicka patrick and Peyton Manning riding a wimpy Indy Car?
  8. 5 days my fellow Bear fans!!! AHHHhhhHHHhh can't wait. Hopefully this picture exemplifies the game on sunday. lol
  9. I'm not a big fan of the 3-4 defense. Teams will run all over you. I wouldn't call the cover 2 a flaw, after all its what the Bears use and they are going to the superbowl But then again it is Jerry's crazy mind. I'm not sure who Jones has in mind to replace Parcells. Jones seems to like his guys with experience, guys like Barry Swtizer, Bill Parcells etc... He'll probably give Pete Caroll a call like many of the other NFL owners have done the last 3 years. He may even talk to his old pal Jimmy Johnson to see if he has any interest to returning (i highly doubt that though). Whats Dave Wanstedt doing nowadays? lol Russ Grim is still hunting for a head coaching job, but i think its a big mistake for an organization to hire a dude who hasn't even been a coordinator yet. Thats like hiring a lawyer that skipped law school. Oh well Jerry Jones is in a mess, im just glad Da Bears aren't in that same mess. The Cowboys had there dynasty of the early-mid 90's. Its our turn!!!
  10. Lovie is staying...no worries. I think Angelo just wanted to see if Lovie had what it takes to win a playoff game before he committed to a longterm deal with him. Granted its going to be more money to keep him now than it would have been in the middle of the season, i kind of understand why Angelo would wait. I expext a 5 year extension after the superbowl. Sorry Cowboys.
  11. I can't wait for the Superbowl halftime show... hahaha I can't believe Prince is playing at halftime out of all people.
  12. The funny thing about it is all we hear about is the "Good Rex or Bad Rex" in regards to Grossman. However, this team can still be very good when Grossman plays average and doesn't lose the game for the team. So far in the playoffs Grossman hasn't been dominant or crap he has been somewhere in between and none of the so called analysts mention that. Was Peyton Manning dominate during the Chief wildcard game? No. Was Peyton Manning dominate during the Ravens divisional playoff game? No. But he did what he had to do for his team to be in possition to win. IMO if we can play like Baltmore's defense did against them and have a more effective running game, and Rex plays another servicable game and makes plays when he has to, this game can be won!! So yea.. i like Rex as our quarterback. He has helped lead the team to the superbowl in his first FULL season as a quarterback, thats pretty damn good IMO. Screw the analysts, GO BEARS, GO REX, and bring on SUPERBOWL XLI!!!!
  13. This should be one hell of a superbowl!! I'm sooo amped for this.. i hate the 2 week wait.... oh well thats 2 weeks to start buying your NFC champion gear and prepare what we will all do for Superbowl Sunday! One win away from da bears being who we all thought they were!!
  14. Just about 20 hours till kick off... wow im nervous as hell!
  15. Brian Westbrook had 116 rushing yards and scored twice last week vs the Saints. With Benson and Jones combined I think we can have at least 150 rushing yards and control that clock. All Rex needs to do is establish his passing game early on, like quick drop passes, screens and quick little 5-10 yard stints. With these things combined and an established running attack, there should be about 3 to 4 solid oppurtunities to make a couple of long throws for touch downs (like Benard Berrian's 60+yard reception for a td last week). If we can keep the ball out of the hands of the Saints high powered offense for most of the game i like our chances. However, if the Saints strike first and go on the attack early..i think we are in for a long day.
  16. We need to control the clock and run the ball down there throats. With there high potent offense we also need to create some turnovers and hope a few of those get brought back to the endzone. This is going to be a very very tough challange.
  17. The Saints offense really worries me the most about this game.. the question is, can the Bears' offense keep up with their offense?!? Im just glad there at home..i couldn't imagine playing in NO and at the superdome with all that Katrina emotion going on. Should be one hell of a battle!!
  18. i agree, close this. if you haven't won a playoff game since 1994 there should be no assuming we win! I know one thing, its going to be a tough, tough battle to the finish.
  19. They say Rexxy is our man. If Rexxy can't do it, he sure can. It is Griese and its no crocket..he can dance and throw and get out of the pocket. So bring on Seattle, bring on Philly, if we can beat those teams my spine will be chilly! He's not here to call Rexxy hun, he's just here for Super Bowl 41! haha sorry i was bored! I can't wait for this Bears game!
  20. Rex Grossman worries me the most! However, with the temp being at 4 degrees I expect the running backs to get a majority of the plays thrown at them. I am also worried that they will come out flat from having that bye and not to mention have that salty taste of loss in their mouths after that beating by Green Bay. I know that game didn't mean crap, but still there was no excuse to look that pathetic. Last year we went into the playoffs on a losing note and had a Bye and hosted the Panthers and were dominated by Steve Smith. Who is to say it doesn't happen again by a guy like Deon Branch or Shawn Alexander?!? Our run defense has been pretty poor the last 3 weeks of the season. I guess there are alot of things to worry about. However, one thing that should make all Bear fans feel better, is that they are all still VERY HUNGRY after last season's playoff embarressment. And as long as we have a guy like Urlacher on our team, we have a chance! So i guess for now, we all need Bear down and hope for da best!
  21. There is NO WAY we man handle Seattle like we did back in week 4. Seattle has Alexander back and we are missing both Mike Brown and Tommie Harris. With those two factors combined this game should be very close! The 2 things that make me some what comfortable about this game is 1) Its at home, 2) The game is on at noon. IMO the Bears are at there best when they play at noon. The Bears were 8-1 in 2006 when they played at noon. I was also told it will be 4 degrees. I'd like to think that it will benefit our team over Seattle. We just need both Benson and Jones to pound the ball successfully. GO BEARS!!
