  1. He will obviously replace Peanut after he retires. He was the 2nd best CB in the draft and was a tackling beast @ Virginia Tech. I like this pick, but don't love it. We still have serious needs at the safety and DT positions.
  2. If they get one of Donald, HHCD or Pyror- I think we all will be happy on this board. If they do in fact get Donald, then a safety in Round 2 is a MUST! We could also use some CB depth, so a 3rd round pick focused around that will be good.
  3. I agree with this breakdown. Safety should be the #1 priority in this years draft.
  4. I'm more than happy to provide inside info! I spoke to Amy this morning. She is pumped to be coming home! Wooooh! Nice work Emery. You will not be disappointed.
  5. Sorry usually that info doesn't come out until after a signing is made. I just know he was not thrilled with the amount that they offered. He would to love play in Seattle and respects that organization. However, his wife- (my cousin Amy) has family connections here and the Bears can likely offer a better deal. Jared is a funny, hard working- class act and his teammates love him. He can provide great leadership for our incoming rookies, and continue to give Aaron Rodgers fits!
  6. Jared Allen is waiting for a better offer than he got from Seattle. My cousin told my Aunt (my Moms sister) that they ( Amy and Jared) were both excited and that a decision will be made as early as tomorrow. My mom thinks he will be signing with Da Bears bringing my cousin back to Chi-Town! Take it for what it's worth.. I just got off the phone with Mom, who just got off the phone with My aunt. Nothing official has been decided, but I truly believe Jared will sign with us.
  7. My cousin said the Bears are in his top 3. Wouldn't say anything else to me. I'm hoping Emery can swing it. His veteran leadership on the line would be amazing! !
  8. Jared Allen will be a Bear! Get ready.
  9. I can see us taking Melton on a 1 year $5 million deal.
  10. The best case scenario would be to retain Peanut and Melton. They can then focus on a safety with their first draft pick. I am assuming HaHa Clinton-Dix will be there for the taking. They can then use their 2nd rounder on a CB or NT to add some more depth. DE- Houston, Bass DT- Melton, Paea, Collins NT- Ratliff, (2nd Rounder) DE- Young, Lane, Scott OLB- Briggs, Greene OLB- Shea, (3rd Rounder) MLB- Williams, Bostic, CB- Jennings, Frey CB- Tillman, Hayden, (4th Rounder) S- Clinton Dix, Conte S- Mundy, MD Jennings
  11. My cousin who was born and raised in Chicago is married to Jared Allen. Knowing my cousin.. I say there is a HUGE possibility Allen signs with Chicago.
  12. ^^^ This! If Emery keeps adding fire power to his beloved offense and not address the glaring defensive holes- he has failed as GM IMO. We need defensive depth NOW! Especially with Peppers out of the picture! As if right now, our safeties are still pretty bad. Its too bad they did not look into Byrd.
  13. I would like to see Tillman finish his career in a Bear uniform. I wouldn't break the bank for him, but I think he has 1 more good year left in the tank. My concern is of course injuries. Over the past two seasons, he started off great but he was tampered by injuries later on in the year. If we bring him back, they need a solid backup as well. Perhaps they can address this in the draft? The next big splash should be attempting to sign Free Agent safety Jairus Byrd, bringing back Melton and make one more valiant attempt at re-signing McCown. If any of that fails- hell, i say try to go big and sign Revis!
  14. Aaron Donald should definitely be our draft target!! Would love to see if they can restructure Pepp's deal, if not- release him and go hard after Michael Bennett. I like your 2nd and 3rd round predictions as well. It's time to add an infusion of youth to this old shell of a once successful Lovie defense.
  15. This is not good news. I know the defense was plagued by injuries. However, if your backups and practice squad cannot tackle, to me that is reflective of bad coaching. If the Bears miss the playoffs AGAIN- Trestman and Emery BETTER be on the hot seat. This is ridiculous.
  16. Good news! Now hopefully Pep can restructure his deal to stay. If not, time to cut the beast and fix this God awful defense. ASAP!
  17. Not a bad offseason if this actually occurred. Anything similar would be excellent. I agree with Lucky Luciano though, Cutler will likely want more $. Free Agents: Would love adding Michael Johnson DE, Jairus Byrd or TJ Ward FS, Kendrick Lewis SS and Arthur Jones NT 2014 DRAFT: Would love to draft Trent Murphy- the dude is a BEAST at DE. Drafting a CB like Fuller in the 2nd round makes sense- somebody will have to replace peanut. Another linebacker round 3 would be a nice choice as well. RE: Johnson (FA), McClellin DT: Melton (Re-sign) Paea NT: Jones (FA), Ratliff LE: Murphy (Rookie Rnd 1), Wootton SLB: Bostic, Costanzo MLB: Williams, Rookie Rnd 3 WLB: Briggs, Greene CB1: Jennings (Re-sign), Bowman CB 2: Fuller (Rookie Rnd 2), Frey FS: Byrd or Ward (FA), Rookie Rnd 4 SS: Lewis (FA), Steltz Our defense would be be upgraded tremendously, especially at the safety position. I believe Melton's return with the additions of Jones, Murphy and Johnson- the D-line has the potential to be one of the best in the NFC. Start taking notes Emery. This will be a LONG offseason.
  18. From everything i'm hearing, Jay will be coming back. I just hope Emery doesn't hurt the rest of the team by giving him record breaking money. IMO, Cutler is above average, he has never won a true big game and STILL has to prove many fans that he is 'that guy'. There are so many holes defensively on this team that makes me very worried committing the amount of cash that Jay will get this off-season. The only good news is, we will have a good amount of cash ready to spend after the team cuts Peppers. They must spend that money wisely! More importantly, Emery needs an excellent defensive draft in 2014.
  19. Rodgers will always own the Bears. Go 49ers!
  20. No thank you to Mr. Frazier. Sign up Norton
  21. You can argue both sides of the coin in regards to Tucker, however I firmly believe he will be dismissed after the season. The guy I want controlling the defense next year is Seattle's linebacker coach- Ken Norton Jr. He has been apart of that dominate defense since 2010 .
  22. Round 1 begins on Sunday vs GB. Let's start there. It will be a tough battle. A battle that Jay has only had once.
  23. Yes... He knows how to run a defense and can help Emery draft personnel in the up and coming draft. No offense to Tucker but coming in to run the exact same Lovie Smith Tampa 2 defense has been a disaster. I feel that Rex would completely overhaul the D and make it his own. That's what this team desperately needs. Do the right thing Marc.. Your job may depend on it by the end of year 2.
  24. Agree with all of you. Trestman has made some really bone headed mistakes in regards to game management. Don't get me wrong, he turned this offense into what looks to be a potential year by year juggernaut. However, he had several opportunities to stick it to Minny today and failed to do it. He played it wayyyy to conservatively today. For instance, why did we run the ball on three straight plays up the middle after the interception? At that point we only up by three and there was MORE than enough time on the clock. That was our chance to put them away. Should-a-Would-a-Could-a. Trestman better improve his game management skills if we are eventually going to make our way to the top of the NFC north.
