  1. The obvious move is to let Getsy go. But the fact that no news has been announced yet gives me a smidget of hope that they believe they can reel Harbaugh in. Once we here that Getsy has been let go, it's safe to say that Flus returns for 2024 and some other lucky franchise has hired Jim Harbaugh. Bears will be Bears.
  2. Well said. The Bears will likely draft a defensive playmaker with that 3rd pick in the first round and use their 2nd round draft pick on the QB position.
  3. Interesting question. If Jimmy Garoppolo is available, do the Bears trade for him? What would he cost? I would prefer him over any of QBs coming out of this years draft. Granted he does only have one year remaining on his rookie contract, would a high 3rd round pick be enough to get him?
  4. Merry Christmas!! Its all about 2016 now. Hopefully they can sneak in the top 7 or 8 in the draft.
  5. Pace brought up the importance of having a strong leader at QB as he had in New Orleans with Drew Brees. Colin Kaepernick is no where near the type of QB that Brees is. Not by a long shot! Its kind of funny how he has yet to mention any sort of commitment to Jay Cutler. I'm starting to believe they may either be cutting him or trading him soon. If not, it can be one of those Chicago White Sox situations where they wait a year to let the big contracts thin out a bit before they can trade or cut him AFTER the season. (Adam Dunn and Alex Rios contracts). Regardless if its this March or next March, Cutler's time here is dwindling down. It goes to show that signing average to below average players to max talent contracts is a ridiculous move that can hurt a franchise for a very long time.
  6. I cant remember the last time I was this happy about the Bears?? Last season was the worst in my life time. Let us all trust the new Pace - Fox connection. They have a plan. We shall trust the plan!
  7. This was an excellent hire. Finally, the organization isn't trying to hire outside the box. Pace and Fox should be a nice fit. We should know that next year will be a program building year. I expect year 2 (2016) to be the year in which we can start talking playoffs. Hopefully by year 3, we can start discussing SB.
  8. I'm assuming John Fox will be announced as the new head coach by noon today. I think he went home, made some calls to locate his OC and DC as all assistants will be in high demand soon. Del Rio will likely try to bring Gase over to Oakland as well. They may simply be fighting for his services at this point.
  9. Del Rio likely heading to Oakland Gase rumored to be favorite in San Fran. Quinn is rumored to be favorite in Atlanta Ryan already accepted the Buffalo job. Bowles accepted the Jets job. ???? nothing yet coming out of Denver, but rumor has it, they REALLY like Quinn. Everyone in the Chicagoland area is assuming the Bears will hire John Fox.... If something goes wrong here, i can see the Bears making one more push for Quinn. Stay tuned...this is ever changing!
  10. Its definitley an awesome organization. They are the type of organization the Bears should be... The Bears have a loooooong way to go.
  11. The way Kubiak executed such a tremendous game plan against both Pittsburgh and New England really impressed me. I would be more than okay with this hire. If they hire him, its not to cater to Cutler, its simply because he is the best guy out there for this team. Lets face it, we are stuck with Jay for one more season so we just need to suck it up. If for some odd reason, Jay excels under Kubiaks system, then the Bears benefit because they can then keep him on board OR trade him next off-season as his value would have increased. The reality of the situation is that the Bears have so many holes, talent wise on the defensive side of the ball that they would be lucky to reach 8 wins next year. We need to think long term and I do believe that Kubiak can be great long term as he can successfully groom a rookie QB into the NFL in 2016 (assuming Jay leaves). If Kubiak gets hired, one name to look for in regards to being the DC is Seattle Seahawks Linebacker Coach- Ray Norton Jr. He has worked with Pete Carroll since 2010- so he knows the Legion of Boom defensive mentality. He also has previous played on the 49ers when Kubiak was the QB coach for Steve Young back in the 90's. Stay tuned... we may have a new HC in a few days!
  12. After doing some research, I am not as displeased on the thought of bringing in Ballard as I was. Aside from his former Bear relationships with both Angelo and Emery, Ballard seems to know his football and his scouting background is pretty impressive. This team needs to build a new foundation of talented youth. The ONLY way to do this is to have two to three straight NFL drafts of acquiring 4 to 5 solid NFL players. If Ballard can identify these players in the draft, he is the guy we need to run this team. Let the rebuild begin....
  13. After Monday's press conference, I just cannot see the Bears coming out and announcing the hire of 'new' president Bill Polian. Its the right move. Its the most logical move. Therefor the Bears won't make it.
  14. I think its safe to say that these 4 players will be gone.
  15. According to TheScore, Ted Phillips will only handle the business side of things from this point forward. The Bears intend to hire a true president to run the show. Let the Holmgren rumors begin to swirl.
  16. I would like the #9 pick in draft as long as Emery is not in charge of drafting defense. He can definitely draft talent on offense but this guy does not know a thing about defense.
  17. Hub Arkish was just on The Score with B&B and he brought up a scary point. If Emery fires Trestman, then he is putting his own job in jeopardy because he doesn't believe management will allow him to hire another HC since his original hire has been a failure. The Bears have historically traveled the path of least resistance, if Emery keeps Trestman than his own job is safe for at least one more season. Unfortunately, this does not get us closer to a championship- it will just give us fans 1 more season of frustration and disappointment. Our only hope resides in George McCaskey. If he truly cared about this organization, he will fire Phillips, Emery and the entire coaching staff and hire a guy to be the President/GM to oversee all player and coaching personnel. A guy like Mike Holmgren who can turn this ship around and actually hire a head coach who can actually take charge of a team. Even if it costs more money then the average head coach.
  18. I want Emery, Trestman, Tucker and the entire coaching staff gone. I think this season would justify any of those men being fired. Unfortunately, it will only be Tucker and DeCamillis being fired as they will take the blame for the fall of this defense and special teams and the overall struggles of this team. I just have a hunch that George McCaskey will give Emery and Trestman 1 more year to right this ship. They will give them a better DC and a better STC and see what happens next year. The Bears have never been known to fire a head coach after year 2 on the job. To me, they don't have the guts or the brains to do what is best for this organization and that would be to bring in a head coach with previous success in this league. Bring in a president and GM to control all the personnel moves (Coaching and players). If i'm George McCaskey, I am firering Ted Phillips, Emery and the entire coaching staff and i'm bringing in a guy like Mike Holmgren take over as president and GM of the organization. This would be a HUGE move that would let the fans know that change is finally coming to the organization. Mike Holmgren would then have free reign to hire his head coach and make key personnel moves to right this ship asap! We need a new direction... ASAP! The Bears have only made the playoffs 10 times since the Superbowl winning team of 1985. That is only 10 times in about 30 years. This is the third lowest out of any team in the NFL since this time. And since we entered the new millennium (2000), the Bears have only the made the playoffs 4 times in 15 seasons. That my friends in pathetic! 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991, =Coach Ditka 1994= Coach Wannestedt 2001= Coach Jauron 2005, 2006, 2010= Coach Smith
  19. And with Rodgers missing half the season, the Bears still lost the division to them. Kind of sad to think the Bears will never get past Rodgers and Green Bay. The day we knock out Green Bay in a big game is the day I'm going streaking to the quad and into the gymnasium. Unfortunately, that fun will have to be put on hold for a while as our team sucks, the coaching staff sucks and the offense is nothing but underachievers.
  20. I would like to see this offensive roster stay in tact for one more season, but with a brand new coaching staff. (Top to bottom). Yes, the league has figured out Trestman's 'brainiac' offensive scheme and he has not figured out how to adjust. The NFL is a serious masterful game of chess. If you can't adjust on the fly, you will get destroyed. I have seen enough out of Trestman. Its the same old B.S. "We need to get better, we need to improve..." I agree with mad Lithuanian , we need a head coach who had some success at the NFL level. He doesn't necessarily need to be an offensive guru, but yet a guy who knows how to manage time outs, clock and field positioning. A guy who can delegate responsibilities to his OC and DC respectfully. A guy who can get in the ear of the referee after a blown call.... I really hope that SF drops the ball and Harbaugh parts ways with them. He would be an excellent fit here in Chicago. A guy the fans can relate to, a guy who has Chicago experience for better or worse. Emery... you are now on the hot seat. Don't mess this up!
  21. It's my prediction... not that I agree with it. I just don't see Emery firing Trestman after just 2 seasons. The offense did break multiple Bears records last year and he will use that to justify giving Trestman one more crack at it next year.
  22. My question is... why is it Marshall the one yelling at Cutler and the team and not Trestman? I think I agree with you... he is losing this team for sure. I wish he was our offensive coordinator and NOT our head coach. The thing is.. if they don't fix this mess soon, Emery's job will be the one on the line. My prediction: The Bears will finish 7-9. They will fire Tucker and DeCamillis and give Trestman one more year to right the ship with new coordinators. They fired Lovey Smith after the Bears ended up 10-6 after the 2012 season to bring in a guy to lead us to .500 ball? Not that i was ever a Lovey Smith fan.. but if you are going to replace somebody, shouldn't it be to improve the overall factions of the team?
  23. I think most of us have issues trusting Emery's ability to draft defense after the terrible Shea McClellan experiment. My best friend said it best in regards to Emery's draft picks, " When Emery drafts someone, we're all like WHO?" I think it's safe to ignore every mock draft out there in the future. If it's obvious, it won't happen. Not in Bears country.
  24. I like that we added depth to the DT position, but gosh, we desperately need an upgrade at Safety.
