  1. this guy is garbage... im starting to think JA is slowly killing Lovey's reign as our headcoach.
  2. ^^^ Sign Holt and draft Maclean or Heyward-Bay with that 1st rounder.
  3. That sucks... I dont understand why we aren't taking a look at him. They are reporting he is seeking a 3 year $8-9 million deal. Houshy is an excellent #2 reciever... Sign Houshy, draft Heyward-Bay and you are set at the WR position for the next 3 seasons..... A Houshy, Hester, Heyward-Bay trio would be unstoppable!
  4. i think releasing him will be a mistake only because of the financial reasons. Keeping him at $2.9 even as a '2nd string' type role is probably the smartest thing to do. I really hope Angelo addresses the DB situation with our #1 pick regardless. You would think at least one of Jenkins (CB), Moore (S), or Mays (S) will be available via the with our 18th pick.
  5. It would be nice to have a saftey back there who will be feared by receivers and tight ends for many many years. Unfortanatley a lot of 'experts' have him going 10th to the 49ers. I agree with them. There is no way Singletary misses out on this guy. We just won 'too many' games haha. And we all know Angelo doesnt trade up. He trades down to aqcuire more picks.
  6. It doesnt look too bad as of now. Lets wait and see what the offseason brings us before we judge other teams. If you want to base the schedule on this years results, the Steelers, Ravens, Falcons, and Eagles are the only teams i can see beating us. Those NFC north games usually end up 3-3, 4-2. I expect San Fran to compete for the West next year meanwhile the Rams, Bengals, Browns, Seahawks, and Cardinals are all very winnable games. But like i said its waaaay to early to tell.
  7. Yep i said it. I want the Bears to sign Ricky Williams. He may not be the explosive back he once was, but he would give us a true back up option to Forte.
  8. My 2009 plan: Free agents: #1) Sign WR TJ Housmenzadeh. We are in desperation for a true #1 reciever. I think if the opposition uses there #1 corner on Houshy, Hester could potentially have a breakout season as the #2 next year as he would feed off the oppositions #2 corners. A. Boldin is another option, but IMO it would cost too much. I would only consider this if Houshy signs elsewhere. #2) Sign DE Terrell Suggs. We are in desperate need for a pash rush and Suggs still has 3-4 solid years left in him. You can make room cap wise by releasing Tommie Harris. I think he has proven to us the last few years that he isn't the same player and is no longer a threat not to mention Anthony Adams has proven to be a solid Tackle, and Dusty Dvorek will be back. Releasing Ogunleye may be a decent option if the Bears can somehow sign Suggs. #3) Sign a backup RB. Ricky Williams is always an intruiging name. I know he has a track record of being a pot head and a team problem, but the last 2 seasons have proven to me as a fan that he has cleaned his act up. He also gave Benson advice to stay away from troubles... He's worth a good look at and could be a solid #2 on our team. Draft: #1) Draft Safety Taylor Mays from USC. The Bears need help in the backfield and with Brown playing in likely his final season with the Bears- Mays could be brought in to make an imediate impact. Lets just hope he is still available by #16. #2) I would like to continue to add depth to the O-line as Tait is on his last leg. We could likely get a solid lineman in the 2nd round. #3) Add depth at the Lineback position. Urlacher is getting older and Roach hasn't proved anything to me yet.
  9. TJ Houshmenzadeh or bust!! Boldin will likely cost the Bears a 2nd round pick and we need every pick we can get to inject some youth into our aging defense.
  10. The Giants better show up. Coughlin plays to win every game. Even if Jacobs doesn't play, look what there backup did on sunday night... The Giants have enough depth to take out Minnesota... Our best case scenario: Giants defeat Minny. We beat Houston for the NFC North Championship. For the Wild card race: Philly will beat Dallas IN Philly to knock out the Cowboys. With Tampas recent struggles, who knows what team will show up, but there is no way Tampa loses to Oakland. I predict Tampa will win that final Wild Card spot. Your NFC playoff picture will look like this probably: 1. Giants (first round Bye) 2. Panthers (first round Bye) 3. Vikings or Bears 4. Cardinals 5. Falcons 6. Bucs Wildcard round: Falcons @ Cardinals Bucs @ Bears or Vikings
  11. we will know our fate by the end of sunday. it will be nice to have a slim chance going into the final week. I guess were going to have to cheer for the: Chargers to beat the Bucs Falcons to beat the Vikings Ravens to beat the Cowboys Redskins to beat Philly You figure at least 2 of 4 will happen. I really think the Bucs are finished, they have overachieved all year and stole a victory from us. I think the Chargers will win as they are still alive in the weak AFC West. I also think the Falcons will upset Minny in Minny as they are in a must win situation. . Hopefully Carolina beats New York so New York is extra motivated to beat Minny during the finaly week of the season. If Minny somehow loses vs Atlanta and we beat Green Bay i think we make the playoffs. So in order: 1) Carolina beats New York 2) Atlanta beats Minny 3) We beat Green Bay 4) New York beats Minny 5) Chicago beats Houston to win the NFC North. Complicated.... yes! Unlikely... yes! But without hope, whats the point of watching..... Happy Holidays everyone.
  12. Well hopefully the real Bears defense shows up because in the pre-season they were crap. But according to all the players 'it was only pre-season, the real defense will step up come regular season'. Well thats really our only hope to win this game. I doubt they are going to kick to Hester. So if we start the ball on the 40 or 50 every drive and Forte can run the ball like management expects him to i think we can stay in this game. Its a lot of IFS but you play the game on the field not on paper. Whats the spread? I heard it was 9.5... yowza.
  13. Payton was a physical/athletic phenom. Guys like that come once every century. If Forte can be anothing similar to his childhood hero Emmit Smith i'll be more than happy.
  14. I would have to say talent... And i blaim that on Angelo. He clearly has a very poor track record of evaluating young offensive talent. He is 0-2 in drafting OL talent so far in the 1st round (Columno/Williams). Is it his fault they both went down to injuries? Probably not, but damn!! Did you see how quickly Seattle cut right through that line on saturday? In 2005 and 2006 the Bears had a solid O-line because of the veterans Kruetz, Tait, Miller, and Brown. Buts once they started declining due to wear and tear and old age everyghing else went down with it.. St. Claire seems to take one step back just when you think he moves forward, and Metcalf never really impressed me. I also expect to see a big decline in Taits production this season as we will likely need to fill 2 more holes in the next draft.... Im serious the Bears will likely fall this season, going 6-10 or 7-9 and it all starts with the o-line. Angelo focused hard on the defense and locking up his own guys this offseason. Its obvious he doesnt plan on winning it this year. His plan is for 2009. How can you expect to win when your #1 reciever is Brandon Lloyd and your QB (no disrespect) is Orton behind a very thin O-line? He wants the team to falter, so he can get 2 high picks, so he can eventually fill those other 2 holes in the O-line, go and FINALLY make a trade for a real QB and bring in some real WRs... I heard Boldin wants out of AZ after this season...that would be a good start....
  15. I predict Orton will look awesome. Grossman will look bad, but many will say its because a lot of back ups where in. The QB thing is what it is. I am more interested to see the Tulane Duo of Forte & Bennett! Hopefully Wolfe gets a good amount of carries as well. (Im a biased NIU alumn of course)
  16. We'll see what happens in the next 2 days when something will get done. Mortensen said a trade is unlikely due to the face that Favre doesnt want to play for the Jets or the Bucs. Apparently Favre has more leverage than everybody thinks. The Packers obviously want something for him, but at the same time they dont want to end the relationship with Favre and the Packers all together by trading him to a team he doesnt want to play for. Im guessing the next thing Ted Thompson does is cooperate with Favre and ask what teams he would be willing to play for. If Favre doesnt want to co-operate then im guessing they'll just end up be forced into releasing him. Favre originally wanted to comeback and play for Green Bay. They wont allow that, so they should just release him and let him control what he wants to do. Who knows, this is one mega- soap opera lol.
  17. Never say never. Chris Mortensen of ESPN who has been all over this Favre story since it began has said the Packers will most likely be forced into releasing Favre. ANd he mentioned that he Favre is most likely to pick an NFC north team like the Vikings or Bears. Well if the Vikings are guilty of tampering, doesnt that negate any chance of the Viking aqcuirering him due to NFL rules and regulations?
  18. Sweet! Now all that nonsense about trading him can go away. Starting pretty much at the 40 ever possession is a nice thing to have!
  19. i think this team hasn't been done being put together. But as is right now i think we can go 8-8, 9-7 tops. If our defense rebounds strong and STAYS healthy we can easily go 10-6 and lets not forget we have NFL's best wildcard in D. Hester
  20. There is no way you get rid of Orton. Yeah he may not have the arm that Grossman has, but IMO he is smarter and has proven he can win games by being smart. Why would you get rid of a guy like that, he's a solid #2 and would be the best #3 in football if he is put back there. He is 13-4 in regular season action BTW. Simms had an injury that nearly ended his life, i would much rather look at a guy like Leftwhich. That is of course if Favre isn't available
  21. look for Kevin Jones to sign with either the Bears or Bucs tommorow. A Kevin Jones- Matt Forte duo might work. Jones looked better toward the end of the season with Detroit last year. Before they think about signing Simms i hope they give a good look at the Favre situation. He obviously wants out of Green Bay and is pissed they are holding him hostage. If they release him i really hope the Bears at least give his agent a call.
  22. What Favre did last year with pretty much no running back was phenominal. The old dude still has game left in him. At first many Bears fans hated him, but they grew to respect his accomplishments. Imagine how the Packers would feel if Favre came to Chicago? Haha i would love it. I think Grossman could benifit from it also playing a season under him. I guess im a minority here but, i WANT Favre to be a Bear! Haha if he stays retired whatever, but if he's serious about coming back for another season and the Packers dont want to alienate Rogers, why sign on to the team you owned pretty much your whole career.....
  23. Okay lets move on... NOOOO more distractions. Benson was a bust anyway. Its time for Forte to shine, but i would like Angelo provide some veteran leadership behind Forte in Alexander. He can come in on 3rd downs and in key red zone situations....
  24. I think Brandon Loyd will be the #2 reciever, dont forget him. Bradley will be the #3 guy, Davis #4. Monk will be used mostly in the red zone because he has major height advantage. I think Bennett will eventually take Bradley's or Floyd's job as the 2nd or 3rd reciever.
  25. I think Moss wouldn't be a good fit with the Bears. With Brady and the Pats O-line he had time to get open and make great plays. The Bears need a slasher type reciever similar to Terrell Owens. Someone who will cut across the field and make catches. Im trying to figure out if the Bears are going to draft a WR with their #1 or an O-lineman? If Mendenhall is still on the board how can you pass him up? So many offensive question marks going into 2008.. i hope Angelo knows what he's doing.
