  1. How did Minnesota get three first round picks?
  2. I don't think he would have lasted past pick 35. They said on the NFL network that his stock was rising pretty quickly. He is saying all the right things, I hope he can make an immediate impact. I wonder what type of position they will focus on at pick #50? I'm thinking LB or perhaps CB.
  3. I disagree I think Flukers size would make it difficult for any pass rusher to slip past the line. At least we agree that he would make a nice pick though In regards to Carimi, he must impress in training camp- I think Webb has the edge over the two. Watch this video. #76 Fluker is opening up the run and eating up his counterparts in the RT position.
  4. I think Scott and Carimi will be backups. I can see it as this going into the season- Bushrod (LT), Slausen (LG), Garza ©, Webb (RG), Fluker*(RT) I know his stock is down right now, but the guy is a beast at 6 '5 300+ lbs. According to NFL.com "Fluker isn't very athletic, but he's a mauler in the run game. He could play either right tackle or slide inside to play right guard. He would provide a nice boost to Matt Forte and the rest of the rushing attack in Chicago."
  5. What do you think will happen?
  6. They said the Bears are going to focus primarily on defense in this draft. So I actually wouldn't mind that pick as our #1- ONLY if the top O-lineman are gone. I would love to snag one of Warmack, Cooper or Johnson to solidify that O-line for the next few years. I'm assuming Bushrod will not be the only addition to the worst o-line in football last year. I agree with you that the defense needs to be addressed. We started the season 7-2 last year- BUT the defense looked O-L-D to finish the season. I would focus the remaining rounds on defensive positions. Our line is still pretty solid, but we need to youthinize the back field (corners, safetys, linebackers...) Also- call me crazy- but i'm predicting #54 returns for two more seasons to finish his career in Chicago. This would keep the defensive morale up since the departure of Lovie really made many of the defensive players upset.

    Mel Tucker

Mel Tucker seemed to have turned the defense around for Jacksonville. They went from 30th to 6th in the league. So I am now assuming the Tampa-2 defense has officially left Chicago? Tucker ran the traditional 4-3 defense and also used the 3-4. I highly doubt he will use both. With a team that has had the same defense for 9 years, I believe its important to run something similar. I thought our pass rush was solid this year and our secondary forced a ton of turn overs. If we get a little younger in the backfield- i'd say were in great shape with Tucker.
  8. I just have a hunch that McCoy will be the new man in charge this weekend. An offensive mind with a strong presence. Hell, if Peyton Manning praises somebody, you best be listening!
  9. I would be okay with this if they can address the OL in FA. Can somebody compile a list of OL FAs? THANKS!
  10. Many teams do a modified rebuild. What I mean by that is restructure one side of the ball (O or D). Indy was supposed to rebuild with the departure of Manning- look at those immediate results! In today's era of NFL parody, I believe there is no such thing as a true rebuild. If upgrading the offensive line and adding some younger defenders is a rebuild than so be it. In Emery I trust! The dude earned my respect this past week.
  11. Time to build a champion this Offseason. Objective 1- Hire new head coach Objective 2- Fix Offensive Line (draft and free agency) Objective 3- Find a tight end who can block and catch Objective 4- Time to start re-stocking the defense (need to get younger!) Trivia question, has a head coach ever won a super bowl in their first year with a team?
  12. It sucks to be in this position considering we were 7-1. BUT.... this team can still make the playoffs... how fortunate are the Bears that Minny is playing GB- a team who needs to win to clinch a bye! I say there is a real good chance we make it. I think this team will come out inspired and motivated on Sunday! Peppers will have a MONSTER of a game. IMO. and peanut will intercept two! (one for a td) JUST WIN!!!!
  13. So this guy is a potato chip? Super fragile? Gosh i really wanted them to address the O-line.
  14. Agreed. I think the Bears can get a very quality WR in the 2nd round. I would definitley go with a Coples or even Nick Perry in the 1st round. If you can get two solid play makers on both ends of the line, you are probably going to extend Urlachers career and the urgency to improve the defensive backfield wouldn't be so high.
  15. I like the move. It shows that the Bears are definitley putting a major value on offense this year. With RB situation set with Forte/Bush and a WR core of Marshall/Wright/Bennett, we are in great shape at the major skilled positions. What still worries me though, is our offensive line. Will they find a lineman worth value in the 2nd round? Are there FA's out there?
  16. If the Bears can somehow woo him after he visits Buffalo, I would love our chances. However, if we don't get him we will likely focus the attention on the backfield since the pass rush wouldn't be as threatening. Whats out there saftey and corner wise? We also need to look at upgrading our O-line ASAP!
  17. I believe they can go after two top notch free agents, granite they do have to still sign Forte to an extension, but they should be able to bring in a top WR (hopefully Bowe) and still be ale to be agressive after Williams. The team is in a great spot financially as of right now. You can then focus on drafting an OL in the first round and a safety in round 2. I believe Earl Bennett can eventually develop into a decent #2 in this league. Johnny Knox isn't a bad #3 eather. If anything he was one of their most consistent WR's until getting injured. But I completely agree. WR BETTER be their #1 priority this offseason.
  18. Thanks for the franchise clarification. Lovie did a great job recruiting Pep. Can he do it again?!? Our defense can would go from good to great instantly. Not to mention you know they will likely use their 2nd rounder on a safety.
  19. Can this happen? What are the odds that Williams doesn't get franchised? If we can sign Williams and Bowe.. . . WOW!
  20. With a successful running game, I think both players would get a pretty even distribution of the ball. Its a risk I would be willing to take. Its an area we NEED to strengthen.
  21. Trade our second and one of our 3rds for Marshall and sign V-Jack and our WR troubles are OVA!
  22. What type of GM would want to take over a team and not bring in his own head coach and staff? We all know, Lovie will be in a "Make or Break" year during the 2012 campaign. However, wouldn't our new GM rather have Lovie and staff bomb out in 2012 so he can just bring in his" Own people?" I hope we don't see a complete sabotage for 2012 just to get Lovie fired. I hope they hire an offensive minded GM. Is there anyone out there who would take on this position?
  23. Here is what would make me happy. #1 Sign Mario Williams #2 Sign Reggie Wayne #3 Draft Mark Baron (safety from Alabama) This dude can play and if JA IS still around, we know he can at least draft defense well. #4 Sign Forte to an extension #5 Sign Carl Nicks to shore up the O-line. If 3 out of 5 of these things happen, I am going to be one happy dude.
