  1. The most frusterating part about our team is not only the way they play on field, but the direction its headed. How are they going to fix the o-line, d-line and secondary all in 1 offseason when you lack a 1st and a 2nd round pick? The Bears are in no-mans land. The only way they could possibly improve this team is to trade away some of our valued pieces for picks. Do you part with a guy like Briggs or Hester to aqcuire high draft picks? Do you fire Lovie Smith and eat his contract? Can we finally change our defense to a 3-4? I think Angelo MUST consider all of these things in the offseason, because the O-line and secondary SUCK!
  2. I was 5 years old when he retired. I really wish I could have seen more Bear games with Walter. My Dad has always said, Walter usually wasn't tackled until Walter gave them his stiff arm and most of the time, he would just plow over the defenders. Watching all these highlights definitley exemplifies how amazing of a RB he truly was. God Bless the Payton family.
  3. The Bears have to win these next 2 IMO. Look at the remaining schedule: 11/8 vs Arizona 11/12 @ SF 11/22 vs Philly 11/29 @ Minny 12/6 vs Rams 12/13 vs Pack 12/20 @ Baltamore 12/28 vs Minny 1/3 @ Detroit All the games that are italics could go either way. All the bold are sure wins. And all the games that are red are losses IMO. The whole season IMO will be determined in these next 2 weeks. The goal is to be 10-6. Unless we fix our O-line, I wouldn't be suprised if we finished 8-8.
  4. I hate to say this guys but this team isn't that good. The O-line is brutal, the secondary is below average at best and the d-line appears to be a mess as well. We are good enough to beat the Lions, Rams and Browns, but this team will not make the playoffs.
  5. You could never have enough depth on the D-Line. With the uncertanty of Ogy and Anderson- its nice to have a little insurance going into next season. I think Ogy will be franchised tagged as well. Perhaps another deal will be in the works involving Anderson?
  6. The Bills are 1-4 and by all means already out of it. That being said I could see Buffalo trading T.O. for a 3rd or 4th round pick mid season. I mentioned it today with my buddy on the phone and sure enough ESPN Insider has mentioned this. ESPN Insider Thoughts? Would you consider it? T.O., Knox, Hester, Bennett with Forte, Olsen and Clark. I'd do it!!
  7. Its right up there with Baltamore's Suggs, Lewis and Johnson
  8. Marshall is being a little b*tch!! Theres a big difference between Cutler and Marshall. Cutler was upset because the team was going after Cassel. Marshall is being a little baby because he wants more money. If you want more money than you should have signed a bigger contract to begin with! If you 'outperform' your contract than you will probably help your team win a lot of games. Isn't that what team sports is all about? He's a joke and i dont want him anywhere near the Bears.
  9. Biggest offensive possitive suprises: Eart Bennett and Kevin Jones Biggest defensive possitive suprises: Tommie Harris and Nathan Vasher returns to old form. Biggest team dissappointments: Hester continues to regress in special teams. The offensive line won't be as good as advertised. My Chicago Bear Pro Bowlers: Jay Cutler, Kruetz, Greg Olsen, Lance Briggs, Tommie Harris and Robbie Gould NFC North records: Bears 11-5 Vikings 10-6 Packers 10-6 Lions 4-12 (3 NFC North teams will make the playoffs) The other 3 division winners will be: Atlanta (south), San Fransisco (west) and Philly (east) Close calls: Dallas, NY, AZ, Tampa and New Orleans
  10. Out of the 3 teams interested in Plaxico (TB, NYJ and Bears), the Bears would be his best fit. It would take him out of the NY limelight and Tampa still has a question mark at QB. He would be the go to guy for the Bears. In Tampa he would be a third option as Winslow and Bryant would probably control most of the passes. Its a low risk- high reward move for the Bears. If he signs on with us, he serves his 4-6 game suspension, serves his community service or even jailtime during that suspension, and come late October- Early November- he would be healthy and ready to go for our 2nd half surge. If it doesnt work out, then cut your loses, it was worth a shot. Esspecially with our lack of WR experience and depth. Brandon Marshall will likely cost at least a first round pick and there is NO WAY Denver makes another deal with the Bears. I'm reading that Baltamore is going after him pretty hard. So Mr. Angelo- were all about 2nd chances in life, give Plaxico that second chance he deserves, it could be the difference between reaching another Super Bowl. . .
  11. Marshall isn't coming to Chicago. Not only do we lack amunition but the Broncos are not going to let this get out of hand similiar to the Cutler situation. We are much better off going after free agent WR Plaxico Burress. Granit the dude has a hell of a lot of legal issues, but if he could serve the league suspension (im guessing 5-8 games) & serve his required time in prison during that time period, we would have him ready to go by Week 9. A Low Risk- High Reward 1 year deal that could eventually put us over the top.
  12. The Bears should definitley look into Plaxico. . Will he be suspended? Im guessing for 4 games. . Imagine having Plaxico for the final 12 games of the season at full health? Look out NFL . . We already took one HUGE risk with Cutler. Might as well take a little one with Plaxico. .

    Boldin

According to ESPN the Cards are now only asking for one 2nd round pick. Well if Robiskie is gone at that point, I say trade for Boldin. . . With the rest of the draft- address the defensive backfield with the two 3rd rounders. After that go get a Defensive Tackle who can rush the passer and another O-liner.
  14. So Hester was raving about Holt. Pace has been in contact with Holt.... it seems like a perfect fit for me. It will be a great 2 year stop gap before we'll be in position to draft a #1 reciever. Lovie has connections there with his time in St. Louis as well. I'm sure Hester and Bennett would benefit greatly with Holt on our team. C'mon JA!!
  15. The Cowboys really benefited from Tank Johnson. The Bengals may even benefit from Benson.. Why not we be on the 'other side' of it. We get rid of our troubles, and other teams benefit. Why can't we benefit for once?? Let Plax become a better person as a Bear
  16. Apparently Zack Zaidmann ran into Plaxico Buress at the Final Four and Plax mentioned to him that Cutler gave him a call about signing on with the Bears..... Very interesting....
  17. Sign Holt! And draft defense with the 47th and 99th. We need a safety and defensive lineman who could actually get to the QB. Apparantely Earl Bennett and Cutler are very close. This maybe Bennett's year to shine because Cutler makes all of his WRs better. I'd like Hester 1, Holt 2, and Bennett 3.
  18. Signing Pace would be a solid 2 year stop gap before we draft another OL. Same goes for Holt, if we traded for Cutler, we would likely deal our 1st rounder and some sort of 2nd rounder which would likely be a WR and an OL. Pace would be a solid pick up. Then get Cutler, and pick up Holt.
  19. McDaniels wants someone who can run 'his offense' and manage the game. Cutler is more of an agressor and a little bit of a headcase. But your telling me Orton has more talent than Cutler? Come on... Cutler is a stud! Look at his #s. If you could get Cutler somehow and go ahead and sign Holt and Pace... our offense would go from mediocre to a potential top 5 offense. Can you imagine: Qb- Cutler RB- Forte FB? TE-Olson OL- Pace, Omeyla/Shaffer, Kruetz, Garza, Williams (not sure what the order would be) WR- Hester WR- Holt That would by far be the best offense in the NFC north. The Vikings still would have no qb.
  20. thats a good starting point.... Harris to Cleveland Quinn to Denver Bears first round (#18 pick) to Denver. Cutler to Chicago Summary Denver gets Bears #18 pick and Brady Quinn Chicago gets Cutler Cleveland aqcuires Tommy Harris This would be one of those situations where every team wins. Bears finally get there franchise QB. Cleveland upgrades there D-line and Denver has a new QB who can run the new system and gets another first round pick. Denver would then have the #12 AND #18 picks in this years draft providing them with a new core who will make an imediate impact. The Bears could go ahead and sign Holt and Pace instead of drafting offense this year in the first round.
  21. John Clayton thinks the Bears will be in the final 3 in the running for Cutler. He thinks the Browns will somehow be involved in a 3-way deal as Denver wants Brady Quinn. Start putting together your trade packages....
  22. Apparently the Bucs, Jets and Lions will be going after him the hardest. I doubt we get him. Were talking about Jerry Angelo here. His last big offseason aquisition was Moose. The funny thing is, Moose was good for 2 seasons and he helped us get to a superbowl. When we take risks, it often works. We just dont take enough of them.... His first preference would be Chicago or Tennessee. Tennessee seems to be sticking with the Collins/Young duo. That leaves DA BEARS! Don't blow it JA. You preached fixing the qb situation during the offseason. Well now is that chance for Chicago to get Bear fever for the first time since SBXLI.
  23. Umm this is a no brianer. Why develop a reciever when Boldin is already in his prime.
  24. Good post. Honestly this is one of those situations where if we aqcuire Cutler and it doesn't work out, there is NO way i blaim Angelo for that. He tried to bring in an All-pro QB (something we NEVER had). I don't blaim him for getting Moose or I dont blaim him for trading Thomas Jones. Sometimes moves don't work out. Most successful GMs and Owners take risks. Those are the teams that stick out and those are the teams that usually win championships. Angelo said "We have to get the QB situation fixed". Well here is your chance.
  25. Screw it, i would trade my #1 for Cutler. Hopefully JA is being extremely aggressive on this one. ESPN reported that the Lions, Browns, and Bears are showing interest. It seems as if a trade is the only option right now for Denver....... Best case scenario: 1. Bears aqcuire Cutler for there 1st round draft pick. 2. Bears re-sign St. Claire 3. Bears sign Holt 4. Bears draft Taits replacement in the 2nd round. Those 4 things alone will adress many offensive question marks for years to come. I'm not sure how JA is going to fix the rapidly aging defensive?!?
