It makes sense long term, but it still don't like it. Im hoping in two or three years this move looks great.

If they use the BM money to go and get Randall Cobb I will be loving it. They only save 4 million in cap space this year but save 7mil in salary. Then next year BM cap hit and salary jumped up.

Guess BM wont have to fly anywhere to do his Showtime show.....

If you can't root for the Bears (which has basically ALWAYS been the case) then you're on the wrong board. All you do is bitch about every god damn thing. I'm friggen sick of it.

your feelIngs are very important to me

I thought someone said his cap hit goes to 15 million next year. I just read that this year its 7, next year it 8 and then 8.5 the following year.

These cap hits are not bad for a WR of his caliber. Having BM on your team is actually cap friendly. I don't get it. It makes sense if his cap hits kept going up greatly but they don't.

As he gets older his production will slow down and if he counted for 12 or 13 million at 32 or 33 years old I would say that would be a bad thing. Even at 33 year old lets say he loses a step and production goes down, at 8.5 mill its not a bad situation.

You will not find a WR as good as BM for 8 million a year. Unless you draft Amari Cooper at 7(which then the cap hit is way lower) but I really don't want that with needing talent on the D side of the ball so badly.

Just read somewhere that it was a 4th and 5th rounder. That's not great, but it's something at least.

Does that change the draft? Do we need to use a pick for a WR? Or is the Alshon and Wilson combo enough?

Probably use a 3rd on WR or pick someone off the FA market and then use a later pick on WR. If it's a 4th and a 5th I'm OK with this as long as they use the cap savings wisely. At 33 and after last season, Brandon wasn't likely going to be a top ten WR, going forward. And even though he was a solid citizen for the most part with us, you've always got to worry about him doing something really dumb. Now the Jets have that headache.

Is this the beginning of a House cleaning???

A house cleaning would be cutting Cutler and Forte along with a few of the older D guys. I haven't seen enough to say they're blowing it all up but maybe. The rumors about Marshall pissing off management appear to be true, however.

Good article here: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/03/06/ber...t-of-no-return/

My thoughts: you sell before value is lessened. You might not catch the peak, but it's better than waiting for that falling knife. 4th and 5th...use one of those on a promising WR and then maybe find a FA placeholder and it's not bad.

Agreed. Best to get something vs nothing.

Youth movement is on?

I get and agree with what you are saying but BM will be will still be a good wr for next three year and his cap hit does not get out of hand.

At

7 for 2015

8 for 2016

8.5 for 2017

these are not bad cap hits for a wr of his caliber.

Now if they take that money and lets say add 4 million a year to get Randall Cobb I would be extremely happy with that.

I actually did a dance when I saw this. This is clearly addition by subtraction. This is removal of the funky looking mole so it doesn't develop skin cancer, it is removing the turd from the punch bowl, the Baby Ruth from the swimming pool..... I like what Brandon Marshall did on the field for the most part. All you had to do is watch his documentary and focus on what he was like when he knew he was "micd up", and that says it all.

And after Brandon said those words about buyers remorse in regards to Jay, I can't imagine that Jay is that sad to see him go. Jays contract is not his fault. He hasn't been good at all but the contract is not his fault. Everyone gets pissy with Cutler because they believe should play better. I wish he would but I don't expect it because he was so richly rewarded for being at best, average.

Bottom line is Brandon's focus is not on football. So this trade works because it elevates Alshon and creates more team unity in the locker room.

If all the off the field stuff we heard(And I'm sure there's more we haven't) is true then this tweet pretty much sums it up for me.

New Bears brass is solidifying *structure. Removing liabilities. It is what any decent home inspector would order for long-term stability.

I'm cool with a 4th and a 5th. I said MAYBE they'd get a 3rd, but thought a 4th would be more likely.

Also, with AJ needing to be resigned, and I believe Fox talking about running the ball more, it'd almost be foolish to invest so heavily into the WR position.

Agreed about the financials, but what is peace of mind worth? What is team harmony worth? That's what they are probably thinking of the most. I think it's a risk/reward sort of thing. Keep

Him another year and risk that he will behave and/or stay healthy?

If it is a 4th and 5th, then this is decent. Would you say Hartline/Royal/4th/5th for Marshall is a good deal? You have to take the cap savings into consideration with a trade like this.

Jason, where did you see the mention of a 4th rounder?

Some whisperings that Cutler could actually follow Marshall to NYJ, lol.

Honestly, I'm not so sure you even need to sign both those guys. I think people are giving up on Wilson way too soon. The kid doesn't even turn 23 until September. I could live with him as the #3 while adding a guy a guy like Royal or Sammie Coates/Phillip Dorsett in the 2R.

I see no positives in the move. I can't see the move being made without ownership butting their nose in. I don't like his past, but he's a hell of a player and was a good Bear.

I just hope they follow suit, and make other moves that are needed.

Sure, it could be Hartline/Rookie+cap space for Marshall. I am just not seeing the 4th round pick anywhere. I believe it is only a 5th (#134). We didn't have a 5th rounder, and now pick 1 spot before our original spot.
