The Denver Broncos have cut T. J. Ward, Pro Bowl strong safety. I know we got Demps in FA and drafted Jackson but I have to believe we have more than enough room and cap space to bring in a 30 year old player to bolster a position we have needed strengthening since Mike Brown departed. I would prefer a pro bowl CB or a OLT that is a big upgrade over what we currently have starting. However, since the likelihood of finding either at this stage is slim to none, T. J. Ward looks mighty fine to me.

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/08/29/chi...c-expectations/ Thought this was a really really good read. Agree with pretty much everything he says, with the obvious key how the QB position emerges, especially in the second half of the season. Highly possible we are going to get dug into a big hole with that start of the season, but if we could put on a strong finish, from Fox's perspective, it could be the way to save his job (and I don't think he's a bad coach and I like the idea of continuity and him staying around vs. restarting thing) while creating good positive momentum for 2018. Trubisky is key to all of this, but defense is so much better than a few years a…

it is worthwhile now after the preseason to step back and evaluate how the rookie QBs have fared so far. At the top of the list with an A grade from Daniel Jeremiah is none other than Mitchell Trubisky. I felt all along we drafted the best of the 2017 group and I still feel that way after watching Kizer and Watson play. I haven't seen much from Mahomes but with his work ethic and raw talent I think he'll likely end up the other long-term starter from this draft. --- I'm not comparing Trubisky to any of these players but looking back at the two previous drafts under Pace (2015/16) the only other QB I felt we should have gone after heavily was Mariota. After wh…

So Trubisky starts and we run 6 straight times for 2x 3 and outs. What the hell is this? That was the game plan coming in? Why would they not have some scripted plays? I am so confused. So they use 6 offensive plays to see how Trubisky hands off? WTF

Stats so far: Mitchell Trubisky - 34-48, 354, 70.8%, 7.4, 3-0 Mike Glennon - 26-44, 243, 59.1%, 5.5, 2-2 Glennon is a lock for opening day at this point, and will probably start the first few games. He definitely has some red flags that come out in the stats. 11% less in completion percentage (and he had easier throws), almost 2 yds less per attempt (dink and dunk game plan in game 2) and a TD-INT of 1:1. Those are all bad. You won't win very many games with those numbers. For the completion pct, that puts Glennon between Siemian and Osweiler/Bortles from 201. Ironically the same as Jay Cutler last year. That would be good for 30th for qualified leaders. Th…

With the tough loss of Meredith, it looks like we will carry 6 WRs? 1. White 2. Wright 3. Gentry 4. Thompson --------------- 5. Cruz 6. Davis/Bellamy/Wheaton Wheaton hasn't played as far as I know, and Bellamy is also hurt. 2 QB Glennon/Trubisky 4 RB Howard/Cohen/Langford/Cunningham 4 TE Sims/Miller/Shaheen/Brown 6 WR White/Wright/Gentry/Thompson/Cruz/Davis 8 OL Whitehair/Long/Sutton/Leno/Massie/Compton/Grasu/Morgan 1 Flex (1 of Stevenson-FB/Bellamy-WR/Wheaton-WR/Braunecker-TE)

First score of the game on 2nd drive (a FG by Barth) , all Cohen so far who looks amazing. Glennon with all short passes, 4-5 for 10 yards and his incompletion was thrown right at a defender for a near interception. After two drives against Cards #1 offense, the defense has been solid forcing two punts. Some nice pressure from the front 7.

All - Apologies for the site outage. We should slowly be coming back online. The server the site sits on blew-up and DNS issues came through, which take a while to get resolved (as there were a variety of underlying domains behind the actual server). Everyone should start seeing the site come back online over the next 24 hours. Apologies for the outage and it will be good to start talking football (and thankfully everything is online prior to the 1st preseason game)!!!

A 2014 seventh-round pick, Leno has started 29-of-32 games the past two seasons. He was Pro Football Focus' No. 53 tackle out of 76 qualifiers last season after checking in at 49-of-76 the previous year. The Bears see upside in the soon-to-be 26-year-old and keep in tact the left side of their line. At $9.5 million per year, Leno is the league's 14th-highest-paid left tackle.

Bummer...good special teams player and solid running back. Probably gives Langford another shot at making the roster.

Did you not find it odd that Manning was giving Trubisky pointers about the offense and not Glennon. Even he knows what's up. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/bears-m...-some-pointers/

Should be interesting to see how Jay does in Miami. I was looking forward to Thursday's broadcast. Will be interesting to see how "in it" Jay is. By all accounts he was very much enjoying retirement and spending time with his family. Presume the Miami situation was about the only situation which would have coaxed him out of retirement (since he can work with Gase again).

As always with Fox you have to read between the lines but without the resolute denial we've had in the past it seems clear Trubisky is moving up the depth chart. I still don't think Trubisky is ready to be our starter week 1 he's definitely ready to see better competition and have better players on his side. If he wants a glimpse of the rookie with the 1's it has to be now. Then we'll take it from there. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/bears-l...rst-team-snaps/

I have to say I haven't felt this optimistic about back to back drafts including UDFA since the early 2000's and these classes might... might produce a ton of starters for a decade. I'll give an A- so far. We could have really used a receiver but we'll see how Gentrey turns out.

I know it's only two preseason games but for many years we were in the mode of saying that the offense is behind the defense and by game 1 of the regular season things will be better. Keep in mind this is without Jordan Howard and a good QB leading the #1 offense. Plus we've played against the two of the better defenses in the NFL in Denver and Arizona. Cohen gets much of the credit but he's getting some help up front too. We're still getting new players up to speed as well in Sims and Shaheen, plus Long in at LG. I think there's reason to be optimistic here. https://twitter.com/ZachZaidman/status/8996...season-games%2F

Interesting seeing how each of the QB's are looking so far: Mahomes 17-23, 73.9%, 137 yds, 3 TD, 0 INT, 1 Sack, 128.1 QB Rating Kizer 11-18, 61.1%, 184 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT, 3 Sacks, 114.1 QB Rating Trubisky 24-33, 72.7%, 226 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 1 Sack, 111.4 QB Rating Watson 18-35, 51.4%, 281 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT, 3 Sacks, 78.4 QB Rating Obviously the numbers alone don't tell the whole story, otherwise Cooper Rush, QB from DAL would be the league MVP right now. However, after watching some of these games, I would say that Trubisky seems the most consistent and calm, Mahomes has made some pretty high difficulty throws, Kizer has shown flashes (boom or bust), an…
