Don't live in Illinois so I don't follow this, but If I remember, a few years back, there was a lot of issues with the Saints when their owner was pushing some legislation that was anti-player? I don't remember how it ended, but there was a lot of bad press at the time.

Starting to read up on Pat Mahomes and starting to get a crush, so I did a mock using the www.first-pick.com site so I can trade and I manipulated a 3rd round deal. 1-3 Myles Garrett is available (some how?) And the phone rings. Tennessee offers round 1 picks 5 and 18. Garrett is a stud, but too hard to pass up this value. 1-5 Solomon Thomas DE-Derek Barnett also worth consideration. Either would be a force on the line for years 1-18 Jamal Adams SS (he was there, like Garrett) to make it more believable, we can change to Malik Hooker SS 1-22 Patrick Mahomes QB- yes, another first rounder. Bears get Miami to take our RD2 pick and Jay Cutler that I put a 3rd…

http://www.walterfootball.com/nflrumors/freeagency 2/1: Carson Palmer has moved his family out of Arizona and sold his home. - Mike Jurecki, FOX Sports Palmer hinted at retirement, and this is an even stronger sign. Palmer could still return for one year, but no one should be surprised if he hangs up his cleats. -Walter 2nd source: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/...out-of-arizona/ I said it before but Bruce Arians does not have the time before he wants to retire (or has to due to health issues) to rebuild with one of these rookie QBs. If Palmer is done he'll want someone who can play now. He's got two options: Romo and Cutler. Romo's con…

No way he's getting picked at #3 now. http://bearswire.usatoday.com/2017/02/01/p...hernia-surgery/ A shoulder AND a hernia? This close to being drafted? Nope. Not at #3. Not after Kevin White.

Why is there no talk about Kirk Cousins? Pretty good TD to INT ratio. Good accuracy. Tons of yards. Young enough to be the QB of the foreseeable future. No question marks about his ability to play in the NFL or whether the coaches/scheme is the reason he's succeeding (JG Because he'd likely take $20M? That's kind of the going market, right? And the Bears have a ton of cap space, right? Hell, when the Bears dump a player or two (Houston and Royal), they'll have at least $10M more. And wouldn't he be more likely to leave Washington than Berry leaving KC? Next you'll say, what about Alshon? Well, he's going to command more than he's worth, and he doesn…

New England just turns random, regular, barely capable players into stars. Hogan looked like one of the best WRs in the NFL yesterday, and he's been cut by four teams. He played one season of college ball at a small school, and now he's ripping the Pittsburgh Steelers a new sphincter in the AFC Championship game. On top of that, the Patriots only had ONE 1st round player starting for them on offense yesterday. ONE! Beware any player from New England. Somehow, they are better able than any other team in the NFL, to make the sum of their parts worth more than the parts.

Using only the mock drafts that were updated in the last month from the Walter Football Mock Draft Database (94 mocks), here is the summary of picks: 1. J. Allen, 37.2% (seems like most realistic pick) 2. M. Trubisky, 20.2% (which QB will we pick if all 3 are available?) 3. D. Kizer, 19.2% 4. D. Watson, 10.6% 5. J. Adams 6.4% (only logical Safety pick at #3 now) 6. M. Hooker, 3.2% (with recent surgeries, probably no longer in play) 7. M. Garrett, 1.1% (doubt he gets to us) 8. S. Thomas, 1.1% (no value at #3) 9. C. Davis, 1.1% (I highly doubt we go WR at #3) 1. QB, 50% 2. DL, 39.4% 3. DB, 9.6% 4. WR, 1.0% 92.6% of mocks have Garrett goi…

After watching the Pats win yet again, it made me think there there might be a silver lining to our last 10 years of sucking... Granted, we had lightning in a bottle for 2006. But our lack of QB really doomed us...along w/ losing Mike Brown and Tommie Harris for the most important game. But in a broad brush stroke, from 2007-2016...the Pats really have dominated. And they probably will continue to until Brady/Billichick retire in 3-5 years. Sure, some other teams have won in the meantime. But the landscape has been really owned by the Pats to the like we'll probably never see again. We never want to suck...but given that we did and do, it might have n…

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/here-are...fls-qb-shuffle/ We know I'd be all for this move. I didn't post the excerpt, but evidently reports are the Jets have a very high grade on Jimmy G as well, but don't view him as a realistic option as the expectation is Pats wouldn't trade him within the division and would prefer to trade him outside of the conference.

For those who believe Pace will shy away from players with an injury history early in the draft, keep in mind that Jonathan Allen has had at least two shoulder surgeries and it's rumored there was a 3rd surgery that was not reported. Medical checks at the combine will be very key for his draft status and this is certainly a concern for a DT who is a little bit undersized. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2686747...de-in-nfl-draft

Between all the injuries (Goldman), suspensions (Freeman), he had little competition for this award but he is still well deserving of it. In fact even moreso because he was often the main threat for an offense to stop and he still produced. We need to use some of our cap space to sign him long term this offseason. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-1...9b-214afc006dd2

Scanning around for tidbits of info and came across one comment from a message board where they liked Ty Nsekhe as a FA signing. Said he did pretty good when filling in for Trent Williams on the Redskins. Tweet from Junior Gallette: https://twitter.com/JovaisG/status/797842366040313856 "Ty Nsehke Would start Left Tackle on 80% of teams in the League so he's ready but it won't be easy against a Top tier rusher in Everson" Trent Williams gives him some praise here as well: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2...s-2-0/89217218/ He's 31 years old but was with the Saints in 2014 so Pace has some familiarity with him. Redskins have the exclusiv…

With all the new information, I keep having a new thought everyday. For today:(tomorrow will probably be different) 1.....Hooker/FS potential game changer on defense 2.....Ryan Ramczyk/LT I think this should be a priority-drops because of a shoulder surgery 3.....Demarkus Walker/5T a high end player in a strong DL draft 4.....Brad Kaaya/QB has been suggested we are interested in him 4.....Brendan Langley/CB deep draft, big and active playmaker 5.....Eric Saubert /TE productive and fast 7.....Trent Taylor/WR productive slot WR This is based on getting in FAgency Jefferson/SS high end young guy Trumaine Johnson/CB upgrade and …

Looking at the draft class, there are many available options for the Bears to pursue this year. The problem, of course, is the other 4-5 needs that supersede the WR issues. While Cam Meredith had a good season, it's not the first time Chicago has seen a promising WR do virtually nothing (i.e. Marquess Wilson, Royal, Bellamy, Aromashodu, Iglesias, Lloyd, Gage, Bradley, etc.). Well, sometimes those guys do something after leaving Chicago, but that's a different issue. If Braverman was the answer at slot, he likely would have seen more of the field when the WRs were dropping every third pass. Meanwhile, Kevin White is still a complete unknown. A wild card. Can he …

Scanning across some top 50 player lists and anywhere from 13 to 15 of the top 50 players in this draft are DBs. Depending on who's board you are using there's a few more just outside the top 50 as well including players like Melifonwu, Adoree Jackson (seen him as late 1st Rd pick too), or Quincy Wilson. The rankings among CBs are all over the place and have changed dramatically since 31 Dec. Jabril Peppers who was largely considered a top 5 pick now is listed in the late 1st and in some places early 2nd Rd (Jeremiah has him at 33rd overall). Bottom line is that we're in a very good spot picking early in the 3rd Rd if we still want a DB. http://www.nfl.com/new…
