I know we don't all agree, but nearly every expert says this draft sucks for QBs. I'm sure as the time comes nearer, there will be some QBs moving up because of the need, but I don't think it suits our team well to go in that direction. Here's the plan: 1. Big board: Myles Garrett, Jonathan Allen. If they go 1-2, I'll be sick. 2. Deshaun Watson. If he doesn't fall, go with King, CB, Iowa or whichever BPA CB is available. 3. If Watson was there in round 2, go for BPA Safety. If he was not there, Chad Kelly is the pick. 4. Assuming QB has been acquired, go OT & TE in whichever order. TE is deep in this draft, and one of the talented guys will drop. 5.…

The more and more mocks I do, the more I believe the value in the draft is in the second and third rounds. I think the talent really falls after the 3rd round overall. There may be some winners here and there, but the 2nd round will be loaded, and the 3rd will still be pretty nice. Would you be willing to wheel and deal a ton to get multiple second and/or third rounders but end up with less picks in total? Bears' picks: 1.3 = 2200 2.36 = 540 3.67 = 255 4.100 = 100 4.106 = 82 5.131 = 41 7.195 = 13.4 -Bears trade down with NYJ to #6 (1600) who absolutely have to get a QB. Bears acquire the NYJ 2nd rounder 2.39 (510) and a 7th rounder 7.196 (13). …

Who do you feel could be the "sleeper" in this years draft? I ask because I came across this article about DE Da'Shawn Hand, Alabama, and I am thinking he could indeed be an interesting prospect. I know a few of you follow Alabama & NCAAF so I was curious as to your take on this guy, do you think he could be a hidden gem? Is there a player you think will "fly under the radar" of NFL scouts and make an impact in the NFL?

    1. Everyone thinks the Patriots are pretty much the cream of the NFL crop. 2. Everyone thinks Bill Belichek is a mastermind when it comes to players, seemingly able to use scrubs and get results, casting off guys who do well only to find out those guys falter elsewhere. 3. Everyone realizes Brady is 39, and pretty much no NFL QB does well much after that. So why in the world would BB be so willing to depart with Jimmy Garoppolo? Think about that for a minute. And why would the Bears give up anything for him? Because he played a game or two in the real NFL? With the best team in the NFL? With the most structured team in the NFL? With the best coach in th…

With the standings complete, we now know who we will play next season. For full divisions, we play the NFC South and AFC North, and then the 2 other last place NFC teams, SF and PHI. Home opponents: Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers. Away opponents: Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens. There is almost no point to go into projections, but at least we miss some really tough teams like NE, KC, SEA, and DAL next year. The only o…

  10. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0104-story.html Thought this summary was a pretty good read and I generally agreed with all of his answers. Two things that stood out was how he is trusting the process and being patient and highlighting how despite various reports, John and Ryan are absolutely on the same page. As long as that is the case, then I fully agree with the decision to keep with the path, but I do agree this is going to be a pretty defining offseason, mainly because we have to find a way to get a QB and It might be that out of all the guys available (via draft / trade / free agency) only one guy (if that) might be that guy and somehow we have to…

With the news of the Rex Ryan firing, I was looking to see who the lead candidates would be for HC jobs going into next season. We may or may not retain Fox (still up in the air) after potentially our worst season since 1969, but I could see both sides of the argument. With previous HC experience: Tom Coughlin, 70 ys old, 170-150 regular season record, too old for long-term position? Rex Ryan, 54 yrs old, 61-65, seems to be more mouth than anything else Gus Bradley, 50 yrs old, 14-48, never did anything outside of Seattle Josh McDaniels, OC New England, 40 yrs old, 11-17, the Cutler of coaches, everyone seems to hate him Jim Schwartz, DC Philadelphia, 50…

What does everyone think is going to happen with Barkley? I didn't watch the second half of the Vikings game but saw he got pulled...that seems like an ominous sign. Also, watching "Lunch With Larry" and he is saying he does not see Barkley coming back and forecast Hoyer and Shaw in the mix....interesting view from a somewhat insider that he would say so blatantly he did not see Barkley in the mix.

So this article lists the top ten teams that didn't make the playoffs that have a good chance at the playoffs next year. No mention of the Bears. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/Barnw...king-2017-field I understand why they don't list the Bears, but it's as if nobody else notices that the Bears have been competitive in pretty much every game, and have been playing 2nd/3rd stringers all year because of the ridiculous number of injuries.

  16. If the Bears want to turn the corner, they need to start a path and go with it. Without a QB they are only making circles. They should hire Mike McCoy to be the OC if he does get fired, re-sign AJ long term and draft offense. On Defense, they have some pieces and are respectable but can use a DE, CB, and S to take that step into top 10 talk. Sign the top dogs as a year or two patch like Calais Campbell DE, Eric Berry FS, and Trumaine Johnson CB. If there is still money, maybe make a run at Mevin Engram OLB also. Hoyer may make a decent veteran bridge QB so you have some experience there also. draft: 1. Deshone Kizer QB -has the size, athleticism, iq, and arm. If he h…

New Years Even update have a lot of changes among the top 10 draft eligible players. As always I prefer CBS/NFLDdraftscout.com rankings and player profiles. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings Notable changes have Jonathan Allen at #1 overall ahead of Garrett. Jabrill Peppers at #3 Dalvin Cook RB #4 Cam Robinson OT #5 most surprisingly Deshaun Watson QB at #6 overall Fournette has dropped to 9th on the list but having 2 RB among the top 10 players, if it holds, will be interesting on draft day. I'm not interested in Watson but I certainly hope some other team is, especially in the top 5. Seeing one LT in the top 10 mean…

Barkley with another red zone INT, 6 of the last 12 possessions have ended in an INT. There is no way he is on this team after this game, he has gotten worse with more playing time. JAX up by 10 in first half, if they win they are guaranteed to draft after us. Jets tied with BUF, and LA and SF play later.
