Ted Phillips told the Sun-Times that the Bears would be on board with opening their books to the players' union, if that's what it takes to get a CBA done. He basically said they have nothing to hide and would be happy to go along with turning over their financials. They're the second team, after the Broncos, to say they'd do this. All three attended USFs pro day who had McClain DT as the main attraction. When is the last time all three went somewhere together? Sounds like major interest. He's 6'1" 300 lbs, 4.8 in the 40. Had 4 TFL and 4 sacks. Athletic but not productive. Only had 24 tackles. Not worthy of a high pick IMO. Was ranked 13rh in PFW draft book. I would be ok with this pick in the 4th or maybe 3rd, but sounds like alot of work and project.

Maybe I'm in a minority here, but the longer this CBA dispute goes on, the more disinterested I'm becoming in the upcoming season. I'm sure I'll change my tune once a deal is in place and everything gears up. But in a casual poll among my NFL fan friends, we're all kind of liking and enjoying the time off from thinking about the NFL. This doesn't bode well for the league. I'm sure we'll all come back to it. But will we do so with as much passion as we've had for the last decade? I don't think so. I know there's a thread for workouts attended by the Bears but this one impacts the first round and I think merits it's own place. Lovie in attendance and Marinelli running the workouts. Watching the NFL Network it seems there's a lot of consensus that Austin has worked his way back into the first round. If that's true we have to start thinking he could end up on our roster. I've read where he was supposed to be a top 5 talent before the suspension. Now the flip side of having another guy enter the first round talent wise is that it makes it more likely an offensive player we like falls to us too. Is it just me or does anyone else see a pattern to whom we bring in and at what position they play? Well we need help at OT, DT, LB,SS/FS, WR due to FA or not having the right players to start with. But looking at some of the draft sites and information cloumns I see that we are looking at, talking to or bring in/working out DB'S, LB'S,dt and OL. Makes you wonder if we need a big WR, at all
