There are many reasons why the Bears could go either way on the TE issue, but I believe getting rid of Bennett makes the most sense for a few reasons. 1. He has a $6M+ cap hit next year. He'll want a contract extension/raise, again, and Miller will require much less money. That $6M+ is way more than Bennett's worth, especially considering the following: 2. Noah Spence lit up the Senior Bowl and he's exactly what we don't have on defense at OLB. I expect that what Von Miller did only further elevated Spence's value around the league. I'm wondering what thoughts are about him? He will likely be there at #11 although that's not entirely certain if he stays out of trouble the next few months. He won't be there when we draft in Rd 2. We only have one offseason to draw from, and from what I understand the Bears have more cap space this offseason than last. That said, last year and his general comments suggest Pace is more likely to target young, up and coming players (see McPhee) than break the bank for a guy that’s established, but might not be worth his contract in four years. So I keep hearing and reading about the recent deflategate and the contest between NE and Indy. I know it's not Bears football stuff but am curious what your thoughts are? Daniel Jeremiah lists Fackrell as the 28th best prospect in the draft. Much will change between now and the draft but this kid was once considered a potential top 20 pick but his knee injury a year ago had him off the radar. Another guy I liked in Rd 2, Jonathan Bullard, he has listed at 40th and on many other boards he's moved up well into the 1st Rd. He's got 11 or 12 DTs in his top 50 (depending on where you list Bosa).
