If you were JA and you knew Chris Simms was on his way out of TB, would you trade away the draft pick we will receive from Brian Griese. The draft pick is a 6th RD pick and should be in the top half if not top top third. Also, Simms contract will expire after the season and we will have to resign him to keep him. The good part about it, we can get another stop gap QB for cheap if Rex fails to win another contract. 1. Orton 2. Simms 3. #1 RD draft pick The bad part about it, if Rex does succeed then we have 3 QB's with about the same potential 1. Grossman 2. Orton 3. Simms Either way, Simms would be the insurance(hedge) if Grossman fails. …

With the Bears finishing 5-12 last year makes it feel like a herculean effort to even get to a winning record at 9-8. However, turn arounds with much more wins are almost commonplace nowadays. Last year alone, 3 of the top 9 teams in the NFL all had a win differential of +6 from the previous season: WAS 4-13 > 12-5 (+8) MIN 7-10 > 14-3 (+7) LAC 5-12 > 11-6 (+6) I feel like there is less correlation from year to year than ever before. In the season prior to winning 12 games, WAS lost their last 8 games, MIN finished 1-6 with their only win a 3-0 barnburner against LVR. LAC finished 1-8 and their only win was a 6-0 win against NE. So as mu…

PFF came out with there projects of OLines and have us ranked 5th. PFF is just one of many ways to look at NFL players but if we just do the eye test, we have a top10 Oline. This helps our offense become more consistent. Howard will be one of the top 5 RBs in the league this year. The short passing game will be stellar with many TE prospects, Cohen out of the backfield, and Wright or Cruz out of the slot. Glennon is a accurate passer when given time making our down field threats viable. Wheaton, White, and Meridith. All …

  6. Hey Gang, With the retirement supposedly of Brett Favre once again from the Jets, speculation is that Mark Sanchez is going to fall all the way down to the 17th pick which the Jets currently own. I know that we need a lot of help on both sides of the ball however, would it be in our best interest if Sanchez is falling that far down that some how Angelo gets his head out of his ass and moves up one or two spots to grab Sanchez. It would be nice to obtain a great receiver however, if we are not able to get the ball to him down field, what the hell good is the receiver to us? It just seems that as the draft goes on and Sanchez has not moved, that the Bears talk with …

Another veteran with starting experience signed to a 1-year deal, though he hasn't been very good since his Super Bowl heroics. Hopefully one younger guys beats him out (Bryce Callahan, Jacoby Glenn, Demontre Hurst, Al Louis-Jean), but provides some decent insurance.

We have a defensive lineman changing positions to TE, already on our roster. Greg Scruggs I would suspect at 6-3 310 lbs, he will become our blocking TE and probably will lose a few pounds.

Per the Tribune, Idonije is now represented by Rosenarce, which leads more to believe he made the move in hopes of getting a new deal. I don't blame him, as all players want long term security and he has only one year remaining, but no way I do a deal here, even if the deal is a good one for the bears. I like Idonije, and he is a nice player, but I think we should be focusing on getting a great player. What is the point of extending Idonije if the plan is to make him expendible? At DE, we should be looking to upgrade Wale, and develop Anderson. At DT, we have Harris, just drafted Harrison, and I think should be looking for a 3rd DT (whether on the roster or not) …

They beat our arse in the most important game of the year. They deserve to go to the playoffs and we do not. The last 2 losses on the road are a direct reflection on our coaching staff. If they cannot turn this around and get the team to 9-7 or better then they should go. This has nothing to do with the 'fire and the passion' but instead the fact they are being out coached repeatedly. I know they will be here for 1 more yr but that doesn't excuse the mess they have created. Peace

It's a visit," agent Frank Bauer said.

  19. Looking at the end of the first round, there are several teams that might go WR...and that could cause a run on WRs that screws the Bears out of at least an option to take a second-tier WR with their second pick. TB - They really need a WR badly. Detroit - All jokes aside, they STILL need another WR. Someone to compliment Calvin Philly- How many years will they need weapons for McNabb? Minny-Berrian is their #1, but Rice and Wade aren't that impressive. NE - Nope. They're good. Atlanta - Need a compliment to Roddy White, and Jenkins isn't that great Miami - Ginn is still not great...need more weapons Baltimore - Always a need Indianapolis - Marvin's…

Thayer listed the things he'll be watching for during training camp. One thing caught my eye, a very welcome sight indeed is that our Dline is learning to use counter moves on their pass rush. We've all been asking for this for years and perhaps it has finally arrived. If true, just the fact that we mix up the pass rush angles and moves will make our Dline more effective. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/07/1_...tom_thayer.html There will be a good deal of focus on the secondary and rightfully so. Cornerback Charles Tillman will be an onlook…
