So in my daily fact gathering of all that is Bears I found an intriguing story in Bleacher Report. In it they discuss a bargain FA acquisition for each team. For the Bears they chose Nick Fairley (currently of the Rams). Although he hasn't done much lately perhaps in Fangios scheme he'd do better? And why not spell Goldman from time to time? Just wanted to throw out an update I read about Nicks. Parcells and Sporano went to NC to hold a private workout w/ Nicks. That alone is somewhat newsworthy as Parcells rarely travels for such visits. Thus, if you believe Parcells is a good talent evaluator, this may mean something. At the workout, Nicks weight 216, which is 10 lbs less than what he weighed at the schools pro day and w/ in 2 lbs of his combine weight. Is it just me or does anyone else see a pattern to whom we bring in and at what position they play? Well we need help at OT, DT, LB,SS/FS, WR due to FA or not having the right players to start with. But looking at some of the draft sites and information cloumns I see that we are looking at, talking to or bring in/working out DB'S, LB'S,dt and OL. Makes you wonder if we need a big WR, at all

Article on the Bears QB situation Reading the article, along with another on the Bears Breaking Camp, I see several points: Smith saying that they would like to know before the 3rd preseason game who the starting QB would be so that it would give them time to settle in before the season starts for real. Smith saying that the starters may play even longer this week in the preseason game, quite possibly well into the 3rd quarter, I assume to give a chance to evaluate the teams starters in depth. I suspect all the speculation over who our starter will be over soon.

No word yet on coordinators, probably learn more at today's presser.

This may need moved to another part of the board, but... Who do you guys think will be fantasy breakout players this year and why? Hopefully, we can share enough to help each other in our leagues outside of this forum. I hate to say it but I have the 1st pick in my draft and can't find a reason NOT to pick AP. Another veteran with starting experience signed to a 1-year deal, though he hasn't been very good since his Super Bowl heroics. Hopefully one younger guys beats him out (Bryce Callahan, Jacoby Glenn, Demontre Hurst, Al Louis-Jean), but provides some decent insurance.

Seriously. Is there any excuse for this at all? We know that Martz won't have it. Smith is OK'ing it, so he also agrees by assosciation. This is seriously got to be the dumbest thing in any pro sports ever. Why not just say we won't line up any running backs...or play without Urlacher. You know, something that could be anvantage.
