http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/...ms/Default.aspx Lions mulling deal for Sims Mar 31 3/31/2010 9:46:16 AM | More Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports the Detroit Lions are strongly considering making a trade with the Seattle Seahawks for restricted free-agent guard Rob Sims, according to a league source Sims is drawing interest from several teams, and could be signed to an offer sheet. He has a fourth-round tender. At this point, a return to Seattle seems unlikely. Chicago is another team mulling Sims.

http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/07/10...loser_look.html 10 days to Camp: A closer look at run metrics for Bears' linemen By Brad Biggs We reached out to KC Joyner to go over some of the run blocking metrics he completed after film review of the Bears. The numbers showed that right guard Roberto Garza was not only the Bears' most efficient run blocker last season, he was one of the best guards in the game, ranking ahead of the three Pro Bowlers Joyner has final numbers for--Chris Snee, Leonard Davis and Alan Faneca. "If you ask me about the 22 teams I've run the numbers on so far, he is probably the second most surprising,'' said Joyner, who will p…

At the bottom of an article about Zach Bowman was this little tidbit about how Jon Hoke has changed our CBs coverage technique: ******************************************************************************** ******************** http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,2983877.story Then came organized team activities, and the new emphasis on coverage technique that played into Bowman's skills beautifully. "We've done more backpedaling this year than I ever have in my life and that has helped me a lot," Bowman said. "They are teaching us to stay square for a longer period of time. Last year they were telling us to open up any time we felt threate…

I personally see the Bears signing two starters on defense, both with the potential to be high impact guys. I'm thinking safety and De are the positions they target and the team will get one of Kapman/Peppers. On the offensive side of the ball, I see the Bears doing very little (Cutler and our young wide-outs should all get better), but they will sign an above average back-up running back who could start (ie, LT/Vikes Backup/Jamaal Lewis, etc). To me I'd be really happy if we did that.

I watched the Bears games against the Falcons the year we went to the SuperBowl and Kevin Shaffer was playing LT for the Falcons. To me he was some what ok he was blocking A.Brown and T. Harris all over the field. He did give up a sack to A.Brown who went thoug a gap. He blocks well at the point of attack and then gets off his block and goes downfield to block someone else. One thing that I did notice in him was that he likes to cut block alot diving at the legs. Maybe that was back then but he did it alot without sucess. When the defensive blockers tried to get around him straight blocking...they couldn't and did not get to Vick on his side. I think with our system he wi…

There's a ton of skepticism going on, and I'm also a bit worried. However, there are some positives besides the spin the bears are putting on it... 1. Reporting to Teddy might be a blessing. Any GM worthwhile will see Teddy as a piss ant and do what he wants to do. It'll be like virtually having no boss. So, for a strong and smart GM, it could prove a blessing. 2. Stuck with Smith. Well, assuming it's truly locked...then after one season, he could be ousted potentially. Also, what if, Smith actually excels? What is a barrage of new talent makes all the difference? Smith isn't the worst coach. He's certainly not the best. But he might be good enough…

  12. JA said last year they were happy with the Oline unit as a whole and that it would take time for them to gel as a unit. Everyone else has been calling for an upgrade to he Oline for the last 4 to 5 years. The last decent oline we had was 06 when Thomas Jones and Benson had a good year. Emery takes over and the only big thing that has been done was the Marshal trade. Two things that we know- Williams and Carmi are coming back. This will help the oline unit as a hole. We dont know if Williams is being put back at LT as stated in another thread. My major concern is the LT spot. Webb in my eyes is not good enough to be a starter and should only be a backup in c…

When looking at combine stats for Oline does it really matter on the broad jump. People are making a big deal out of Carimi's broad jump but didnt think it was that important considering Oline are never asked to jump.

Mike Mulligan checked in from the airport in Florida on his way from the owners meetings. He got a couple interesting tidbits during breakfast with Lovie Smith Wednesday morning. Check right here for his full story. A few highlights: *** Smith projected that Mike Brown will be the starting free safety. Presumably, that means Danieal Manning is out of a job and Brandon McGowan and Kevin Payne will battle for the strong safety job. *** Smith reiterated John Tait could be moved from left tackle to right tackle depending on what kind of personnel is added. He couldn’t name an offensive line, though, or a quarterback. And then there’s the situation at runni…

  18. INJURY REPORT AND IMPLICATIONS Chicago Bears at Indianapolis Colts By Michael Nudo No Saturday this Sunday BEARS OFFENSEcolor> vs. COLTS DEFENSEcolor> Left guard Terrence Metcalf was a question mark going into this year after a poor performance in his opportunities last season. He recently underwent knee surgery that cost him all of the preseason games. Although he returned to practice this week, Metcalf would seem a long shot to play this Sunday. Stepping up is Josh Beekman, who hardly sniffed the field last year. Beekman started all four preseason games and played as many snaps as anyone. He’s come a lon…

    1. Angelo's inability to do anything for this offense. 2. No franchise QB. 3. No play makers at WR. (Lloyd looks good as of right now) 4. Our TE's can't catch or hold onto balls. 5. Offensive coordinator who sucks. 6. Defense coordinator who sucks. 7. O-Line is put together like legos. 8. Drafted an injury prone tackle. 9. Not using Kevin Jones. 10. This front office sucks as a whole. They're trotting out the same shit year after year on offense. I'm sick of it.

Well Gotta give Orton Props again, We needed him to have a great day passing the ball and he did. Forte had a descent game, coulda done btter, but I think it was more the scheme then his ability to run. ST won it for us straight out. With all the corners out on injury it was surprising that the secondary played so well. They did give up plays but for the most part they kept everything in front of them. Iam really pleased the way they came in this game. Game balls: 1. Orton 2. Offensive line 3. Special teams Game crappers: 1. Booker ( although he redeemed one drop in the end zone with a great play) 2. Defensive front 4 ( could n…
