At work today, I couldn't help but to sit back and think about the Bears future. Here's the way I see it. While our defense is aging, we do have some young, starting, good players: Briggs is 27. A. Brown is 29. Dvoracek is 25. Harris is 25. Idonije is 27. Vasher is 26. Tillman is 27. Payne is 24. Harrison is 24. Graham is 23. Our defensive back-ups have looked good for what they've done, too. Roach is 23. Steltz is 22. J. Williams is 24. McBride is 23. LaRocque is 22. Bowman is 23. Also, Urlacher, Briggs, Wale, Adams, and Urlacher still have some productive years left, too, IMO. Guys, I gotta say it. I love this team. I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks, but finally have the time. Our Offense continues to do what it needs to do in order to be successful. It is still learning Tice's system, as he is learning to be an offensive coordinator. Cutler is managing games very well and keeping enough drives alive for us to dominate in "Time of Possession". Sky is the limit for this unit if the OL holds up and key players stay off the IR. Special Teams is solid as usual. We have not experienced the spectacular, as we are accustomed to, but this unit rarely lets us down. Defense is the difference maker for this team. This …

Based on watching other games, the Bears sloppy start isn't unusual. Cutler can, in fact, bring his team back from a deficit. The rooks on the line can play! The FA pickups this year will contribute. Nut is still GOOD. Trestman can game plan and make halftime adjustments. Gould is the best PK in the game today. Hester didn't look special to me today but I'd still rather have him than play against him. The D needs to tackle a LOT better. Briggs in particular. The run to the outside on 4th and 1 showed guts. Apparently this visit is scheduled for tomorrow. Normally visits don't happen until late March and/or early April, so this is considered "early". From Breer, it seems like the Bears will make a decision this week, and definitely ahead of the start of free agency. This is the draft following the 2005-2006 season. To set the scene, the Bears had just finished with the best defense in the NFL with only 12.6 points allowed per game. They were also 2nd best in total yards allowed per game and 11th in rush and 5th in passing yards allowed. The Bears had the 2nd most int's of any team that year. They were tied for most Defensive TD's and in the top 10 in sacks. The offense wasn't quite as productive. The Bears were 27th on points per game (16.3) and 29th in yards per game. Was watching the Giant's vs Cheatriots and the potential go ahead TD for the Giants stood out to me. Beckham has possession, with 2 feet in the end zone, then the ball is ripped out by the DB it's ruled no catch.... That brought me back to the Lions game where Golden Tate barely had possession for even a split second before it's ripped out and intercepted. Yet Tate is awarded a TD, Beckham is awarded and incomplete pass. Can someone explain why Tate's was and Bechkham's wasn't. To me if Beckham's wasn't neither should Tates. I know the rules get muddier and muddier with each "judgement" call. But that play last night reinforces that we got screwed.
