Very interesting. I assume Kwit is gone and we re-sign KPL as the primary backup. I also hope this is a team friendly deal in the sense the last year of the deal is probably a team option meaning little cap hit if we cut him. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2020/03/12/bears-sign-danny-trevathan-to-three-year-extension/

from profootballtalk.com BENSON ORDERED TO GET BUILT-IN BREATHALYZER Posted by Mike Florio on June 23, 2008, 12:16 p.m. Free-agent running back Cedric Benson, the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft who was cut earlier this month by the Bears, has been ordered by a judge to install an ignition interlock breathalyzer in his car. Benson was arrested for DUI in the day preceding his release. In May, he was arrested for boating while intoxicated. Benson also must take alcohol counseling courses as a condition of his bail. Meanwhile, Taco Bill has chimed in on the situation with a new Pic of the Day.

I haven't seen anyone talk about this, but it seems the team is bringing back the monsters of the midway as a theme this year, making shirts and everything. There is an article in the Trib saying what a joke this is, asking how can a team that doesn't even practice tackling in camp have the audacity to bring out this theme. I'll go one further. This is not a moster defense, and I am saying even if it is hitting on all cyclinders. It isn't just that we don't practice tackling, but that we don't even want to make the big tackles. We try to wrap a guy from behind and punch the ball out, rather than hit him straight on and make him pay for thinking about gainin…

Cutler needs to change the snap count.Me and the saints know exactly when the ball is being hiked. Every game it's the same snap count

With the media furore and the fans venting their frustration I hope whoever makes the decisions after the season is over does it rationally and without emotion. The first thing that should be considered is do we want to go through a Chicago Cubs rebuild i.e. Get rid of Emery, Trestman, coaches and playing staff because if they clean house from top to bottom then whoever comes in will change the players. Whether a rebuild is or isn't required should be determined with the following observations: 1. What affect they last 2 seasons can be attributed to Angelo's drafting. If you look at Greenbay the majority of their roster is built from drafting. This gives you more o…

Other than Fuller, there is not starting level talent on this team in 5 years. On Offense, you have Jeffery and Long in 5 years starting. Fire Phillips and Emery. Bring in a HUGE NAME for the front office to rebuild this team. A president with a direction and a GM with a history. Trade/Cut Cutler. I know it will be a massive cap hit, but next year will be bad too. You will have a crapload of capspace the year after. Trestman can stay, only because he is already paid and whoever is coaching the next year or two doesn't matter and we are looking for high draft picks for the new GM to develop. It's a total rebuild. Think Cubs, but NFL.

I for one am glad that Briggs stayed here. He's been absolutely awesome so far this season. Keep it up Lance!

How about this plan: Trade our first round pick to the Giants for Osi and their first rounder. Then sign Mike Wallace to a heavily front loaded deal, and surrender our new first (32nd overall) to the Steelers. We get one of the top young receovers in the game, and add a legitimate pass rushing threat opposite Peppers.

No link just saw Adam Shefter report it on ESPN NFL Insiders. It's hard to know how aggressive they are with this or if they just did some shopping around to gauge interest.

Here is something that Vaugh McClure just put up on the Tribune website about regretting not doing more to prevent the collapse of this season: Lance Briggs pointed the finger at one person to blame for the Bears' 5-9 collapse the season: himself. "If I was a better leader, maybe we win more games, period," the linebacker and defensive co-captain said during a community visit Tuesday. "Who wouldn't take it personally? I'm not a leader by default. I'm a leader because I've earned the right to be a leader. So a lot of that burden does fall on my shoulders." The Bears have little chance to atone, with just two games remaining in the season. But Briggs, w…

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/jensen/2078...-sean02.article Per Sean Jensen of the Times, Angelo has been given permission to spend around $25m in "up front" money this offseason. As the report says, that number could climb w/ the release of Pace which saved a bit under $4m, and some other potential moves/ restructures. Also as the report says, that likely will not be enough for Peppers. That number should be more than enough for Kampman, but a key issue is that we have many holes, and if we blow all our money on one player, we would be severly limiting in plugging the other holes. Still, $25+m is a pretty solid amount to have to play with. It likel…
