I found it interesting that most of our bubble guys on Offense helped themselves tonight. Ridieu - TD Gaines - TD AP - Leads team in rushing for 2nd consecutive week and KJ goes off on a cart. Knox - Who I previously and wrongly prognasticated, as the yearly Redshirt, made big plays. What I failed to see was Rashied Davis. Has he locked up the 3rd spot by not playing? Anyone think we are going to see any surprises on Defense.

Comparing Nicks to Bennett, they are both similiar. Bennett seems like the better blocker and Nicks is a little more physical. Don't get me wrong, I like and would want Nicks on the Bears, but if he is close enough to Bennett were they would both make good #2's in the NFL, why jam this position up with another WR with a same set of skills. Just like Maclin's skill sets says he would make an excellant slot WR, where Hester should be. This is where I think if we do go WR, we may take Darius Hayward-Bey and I'll also lay out his profile. DHB is raw and will take some work, but is he raw due to a poor QB play and bad offensive system? If Maclin resembles Hester too much…

Here's an interesting bit from Pro Football Weekly on Martz's pass-protection and the punishment his quarterbacks have to take: Personally, I'd like to see Martz make use of Cutler's mobility the way Shanahan did - get him out of the pocket and on the move, where he's harder to defend. None of Martz's previous QBs have been as mobile as Cutler, and he'd be dumb not to take advantage of one of his players' obvious strengths. That said, Cutler's a tough guy and clearly doesn't mind taking a shot or two. I'm sure he'd be able to stand up to the punishment if Martz asks him to hang in the pocket and get hit.

Was reading a story in the Bleacher Report on "Top 10 undrafted free agents who could be a major contributor in 2014" and former FSU LB Christian Jones (now Chicago Bears) was mentioned. (Sorry can't post the link). According to some links in the story he was once a higher touted player but "failed a drug test at the combine" and dropped in stock as a result. Comparisons were of him to the Bills Manny Lawson. Anyone heard of him? I like what I see. Maybe an eventual starter in place of Greene or if SMC fails miserably at his conversion?

Okay, many here are ripping the defense, due in large part to their coaching. I am absolutely one myself. While I still think our coaching on the D is poor, here are some reasons why we may be able to get it done regardless. Not all agree Babich or Lovie are a problem as defensive coaches, but regardless, and for those who do, questionable coaching may not be enough to kill this defense. After sleeping on the loss, here's what comes to mind... 1. The obvious. Our offense is offensive w/o Cutty and Forte. Hanie is simply not a pro QB. He didn't lose the game for us yesterday. But he did the last 2 weeks. Barber ran well, except at the end when he forgot he had a brain. He failed football 101 twice. Stay in bounds, hold onto the ball. He cost us the game. 2. The D did their job. Yes I hate that prevent crap...but it did what the intention was..waste time. Had Barber not failed, we'd be more than OK with the meager 7 points given up. I was not able to actually watch the game, but followed it on NFL.COM on play by play and have read quite a few articles. Sucks being in a place where you can't watch the game, but next week I will be watching on the big Sky.... In terms of Lovie, nothing much new here as far as I am concerned, I tend to think he may have been trying to ingratiate himself to Bears fans by going for it on the 4th down call. It finally has come out that Tommie Harris has had his knee scoped in March and he is suffering from some problems with that surgically repaired hamstring. So this is not good news.
