You can only go as far as your offensive line will take you. This organization continues to ignore it. A great O-Line will make an average QB and average RB good. A shit O-line will make a great QB and great RB look below average. It's just the way it is now. Gone are the days when the O-line were just anonymous bludgeoners. They are VITAL to offensive success. That's why most of us in here were clamoring for Faneca regardless of his price tag. It's that big of a deal. When I hear Thayer and Hampton talk about certain players lack of knowledge with hand positioning or leverage. I'm dumbfounded. These are supposed to be elite players playing at their highest lev…

Our Defense is going to be horrific. By far and away the worst S tandem in the league and I can't imagine much worse at LB. There isn't one guy in the back 7 that can lead the team and call plays.

He is a great tackler but doesn't make impact plays. He has 5.5 sacks and 6 ints in 5 yrs. Url has 37.5 sacks and 15 ints in 8 yrs. He has overvalued himself and may be waiting by the phone for a while. Just watching the NFL network and the analysts agreed his best move would be to stay with the Bears. Peace

Remember when we signed Phillip Daniels, and he got something like $8m SB, and that was considered top tier money at the time? Today, that is a tad more than we have given an OL who has started one game in the last 4 years, w/ two different teams. In the last few days, I have been discussing FA w/ some friends, and in those discussions, I came to realize something. We all had been shocked in the last couple years at the deals FAs have been signing. The idea of giving X of dollars to some average player was simply shocking. To me, the money given to average/just above average players has been even more shocking than money given to big ticket players, who have alwa…

The Bears have signed S Kevin Byard to a 2 year deal. Details are not yet available. This is a HUGE move. He's been a perennial All Pro. Our secondary is stacked now. Poles has filled the two glaring holes in our roster (C and FS) and free agency hasnt even started yet. That's not to say he won't do more at center. These moves are also a sign that he's not trading the #1 pick.

Yesterday I spent my annual trip to Bear's TC on my B-day. I have just a few points to make and I'll keep it short. 1. It was hot as Hell yesterday and I was wondering how these guys could practice in this intense heat for 2 hours. 2. The most intense groups working out at camp are the offensive and defensive lines where the only skirmish of the day occurred and the sound of the pads hitting was the loudest from these groups. 3. Julius Peppers is a very huge man and looks bigger in person than he does on TV. 4.Greg Olsen worked out with the WRs when the offense was working on running drills 7 on 7 while Clark, Davis and Angulo worked in the running drl…

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/ChalkTalk...p?story_id=4853 Seeing a recent “Chalk Talk” question about the possibility of Brett Favre playing for the Bears got me wondering: How many of the 1985 Bears went on to play for the Packers? I know Jim McMahon is one player who definitely suited up for Green Bay after leaving the Bears. David K. Milwaukee, Wisconsin Four members of the 1985 Super Bowl XX champion Bears later played for the Green Bay Packers: Quarterbacks Jim McMahon and Mike Tomczak, defensive tackle Steve McMichael and linebacker Jim Morrissey. McMahon won a Super Bowl ring as Brett Favre’s backup in 1996. When the Packers were honored at the …

1. Clay Matthews has a ton of passion but god dammit is he rather dirty. Every time he takes a shot at your head 2. I know he was knocked around and really got beat up. But Cutler was pretty close to awful tonight. Really shoulda thrown minimum 3 INTs. Hats off to him for rushing for 1st downs and making a few huge throws, but his descisions were terrible. Like I said earlier, this was the best team we play this year. Need to turn around the run game and stop the BS passes (why lab-pass with 2:00 left? run the dam ball.... 3. Oline actually played decent. I wish Rod Marinelli would take notice of what happens when u blitz 4. I said this a week or two back,…

There's not a lot of info about Hanie's abilities so I thought I'd post this from the Bears' website. Sounds a little like the next Rex Grossman but 2in taller. However, despite those INTs, if he did have that much of a lack of talent around him then completing 64% of his passes is pretty good depending of course on the system they ran at Col State. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/ChalkTalkStory.asp?story_id=4660 During the draft I heard Mel Kiper Jr. say that Caleb Hanie had the second strongest arm of the quarterbacks this year next to Joe Flacco. What is the scouting report on Caleb and what were his college statistics? Brent S. …

The Cowboys are technically the toughest opponent the Bears will have faced to date. They are 3rd in DVOA, have the #18 offense and #2 defense. So another huge challenge for Fields and the offense. It looks like the Cowboys will be without Elliott, but have Prescott back. I never liked this matchup and it still looks pretty bad. The line is heavily in the the Cowboys favor. It will depend on which teams show up. If the Bears team that played the Pats shows up, the Bears can actually win this game, but if any other team shows up, it could be a long day against that defense. I figure this one will be a little bit lower scoring. Dallas only scored 24 against the …

Bum thumb to sideline Hillenmeyer By Vaughn McClure | Tribune reporter 9:52 PM CDT, October 28, 2008 A source close to Hunter Hillenmeyer said there is "no chance" the linebacker will play against Detroit on Sunday after the linebacker underwent surgery on his right thumb last week. Hillenmeyer is expected to be out a few weeks, according to the source. Nick Roach is expected to replace Hillenmeyer as the starter at strong-side linebacker. Hillenmeyer did not practice Monday and declined to discuss his injury status. Coach Lovie Smith did not publicly rule out any player for Sunday's game. Hillenmeyer started the first seven games, recording 21 tack…

Let's face it guys, this Bears team isn't very good. Our QB play is reasonable and we have a solid young RB. But out O Line is old, beat up and not exactly great these days. Our receivers SUCK bigtime. On D, we can't tackle. We can't seem to play 3rd down either. At times, teams run at will on us and at others, we play the run well. Our special teams aren't very special anymore. Oh, and our coaches are so vanilla it makes me sick. But that isn't what this post is about. Our guys are our guys and I love them, regardless. And if a Packers fan said anything I've said above I'd beat him senseless... But with all of our obvious flaws, we're 7-6 and stil…

LT for Buffalo, but at 340lbs, I have to believe he can play LT or RT. Buffalo is reportedly not even close in discussion of a new contract, which led to Peters holding out part of last year. Could be available through trade. (a) Can he play RT ( Would he accept the RT position © Is he worth the sort of money he is likely looking for, which is likely in the Gross ballpark (d) what would it take to get him.
