After taking day to catch up on some games and performances around the league I have a sense where the Bears fit in. I see all the angst about our loss, mine included, but I don't think a single new Head Coach won their first game including the one who has won a Superbowl, John Gruden. All these teams are in different states of repair but among this group we didn't fare so poorly. There is a learning curve for all new HCs and their teams. We need to keep that perspective as over-reaction Monday fades into the distance. After looking around and seeing the Raiders, Lions, and Cardinals play. The Giants have plenty of star power and didn't look so good either. …

My hope is that Trubisky progresses like Goff. The quality of our defense and running game will help a lot.

Anyone can say what they want but realistically can we fix this? First a win this week could help a lot. Second injured players coming back wouldnt hurt. ( no control over that)/ Thrid, Flus aint leaving and I now think he should, how about Waldron? We have 2 options in the room Kerry Joseph and Tom Brown. Tom Brown has called plays in Carolina and was assitant HC with the Rams before that. I would say promote Tomas Brown to OC. 4th simplifly it for CW , he is talented but does he have too much on his plate for a rookie? According to his play, that would be a yes. 5th Flus turn over DC play calling to Williams and concentrate on being a HC. …

  5. Our OLine was one of our strong groups last year, injuries prevented it from being achieving top credits. What we have: Leno is rated by most accounts as average for a LT. Considering he has a fair contract value it makes him doable going forward. IMO: A upgrade would be nice but I think the Bears live with him a few more years and draft a replacement somewhere in the draft. Sitton is a quality OG top rated by most. He is 31 turning 32 next year and has missed 6 games in the last 2 years. IMO: He will get 8 mil this year which I think could come into play with a player starting the…

After the Bennett trade, and after the rookie pool, and including the ridiculous Alshon Jeffrey cap his, we STILL have 15 million to spend. The Bears have been good about spending the maximum amount. We typically annually do some roll-over where we have 5 million extra to spend each year. We have 15 million to spend and I can't think of a single notable free agent we need to worry about resining next year. How the hell are we going to spend 15 million?

Cutler is probably done. Forte is on the back end of his career, but Langford is here. WR is obviously set. TE is set. RT is iffy at best. RG is good, for a few years. C looks good with Montgomery and Hronis. LG looks good if Long moves back there. LT is bad. So, that means on offense the Bears need: QB, RT, RG (future), LT. On defense, the Bears need 3-4 personnel, which means DEs and OLBs that fit, ILB's with range and intelligence, DBs who can cover, and Safeties who don't suck. So, that means on defense the Bears need (at least): 1 OLB, 1 DE, 1 ILB, 1-2 DBs, 1-2 Safeties Wow

  9. Bears could look west for first pick Todd McShay has Chicago drafting Oregon defensive end DeForest Buckner with the 12th overall pick. Buckner is a good athlete for his size and is a handful for offensive linemen when he plays with leverage. McShay: First 2016 mock draft (Insider) share© Don't know much about him. I think they should look inside linebacker myself.

  10. It only shows that upper management needs changing. Im not sure how the management system is structured. I would hope it goes something like this Players answer to Asst Coaches Asst Coaches answer to Trestman Trestman answers to Emery Emery answers to Phillips and Phillips answers to The McCaskey clan. From years of following the Bears I would not be surprised if there is really no one in charge. How could George McCaskey not walk into Halas Hall so pissed off that he himself takes Tucker into a room and fire him? After 2 of the worst losses in Bears history, how is the response that we need to continue to work hard. That's it, …

If we can spend a little why not get Jay another FA target like Laurent Robinson from Dallas and still draft Floyd/Hill? Marshall, Robinson,Floyd/Hill Hester, Bennett, Knox those would create a lot of match up problems for the other teams coaches and their secondaries. We would then win a shoot out with the Packers!!!!

Emery has evaluated his new team and he see's what needs to be done to not just win a Superbowl, but build a dynasty. First in order, he gets the FA Bears signed right away that he doesn't want to hesitate on Matt Forte Corey Graham Greg Steltz Amobi Okoye Kahil Bell He will keep a close eye on: Kellen Davis, Israel Idonje, and Brandon Merriweather but hold until after the draft Second is to make the splash in the market....with 15-22 million to spend PE thinks BIG Vincent Jackson WR -Bowe will get the franchise tag if he don't sign long term, KC has lots of cap space. Jackson won't be franchised, but will weigh his options before going…

With only a few days until the draft are you getting excited or do you have anxiety? All the conjecture and BS stops on draft night. Are the anti-Williams folks resigned to the choice or still hoping for a last minute surprise? Is your focus more on the second pick at this point? I’m hoping for an Offensive Tackle myself More importantly, how are you feeling about the season? Things should be much improved but we’ll have a rookie QB. There are obvious exceptions but usually that’s a tough first year. Lastly, are there any FA’s left that you’d add depending on what happens in the draft?

  15. I wanted to get other fan's opinions on this topic because I am stuck in between on this one. On one hand, if Cutler and Forte don't get hurt, IMO they finish 12-4 with an outside shot at beating GB in Lambeau to finish 13-3. That would suggest that they are right there and only need a few tweaks to get there, mainly a #1 WR and a LT. OTOH, the Bears defense is aging with all of their stars on the wrong side of 30, and on offense, Cutler is going to be 29 this season, so he probably has 4-6 years left of being a reliable option before his skills start to erode. I would probably go for it in the 2012 season, and win or lose, dismantle the team after the season. They s…

At this point we've lost our starting LT and replaced him with Jonathan Scott. Fair enough we keep Webb on the right side where we want him to play this season. Then we lose Jonathan Scott and we replace him with...Eben Britton at LT? At this point I see that Webb is fading from our top 3 OTs. Not saying he's lost his job yet but if versatility is what Kromer wants among his top 7 Olinemen (he said so yesterday) then at some point among these injuries if Webb was one of our top 3 OTs he'd have been slid over to LT for a day or two while Britton, or Scott, took snaps at RT. That didn't happen and Kromer and Co. decided they preferred to see what Britton could do…

  17. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/186224-...ticism-take-him Article I wrote on Devin Hester and his role as a Wide Receiver. What are your thoughts? Do you think with time he can become a solid WR for the Bears? He definitely has shown progress considering he barely played WR in college outside of "reverses" and "gadget plays". Feedback is appreciated

How healthy will the Bears be in 2008? Or, Should I ask how will the Bears do in 2008? Are the two in fact the same question, well, maybe.... Looking at the draft, it is quite possible that when we pick, the #2 RB (whether that be Mendenhall or Stewart) will still be on the board. Three teams in the four picks after ours (Det, Az and Houston) all could be looking to upgrade their run game, which means if a team wants one of these two RBs, they may need to move up to our pick, in front of those other teams. Heck, if one of those teams really likes one RB over the other, they may even be looking to move up a couple slots, like if AZ loved Mendy, and felt Det would take him. Could be interesting what sort of offers we get. For me, it would take quite a bit for me to trade down. If we could trade down, and…

Last night shows just how important a good coaching staff really is. The Bears last year lost to GB 38-17 and 55-14. This year the Bears lost 31-23 and won 17-13. You cant say the Bears are more talented this year, they still have glaring needs on the Defensive side of the ball, the Oline is not preforming well. What has changed, there are some new faces, rookies playing well, Cutler has played really well but the biggest change is the Coaching. Cutlers play can be credited to great coaching as well, not that Cutler didnt clearly change some things to turn it around the way he has. The Bears are 2nd in the NFL with rushing attempts this year, last year they were 3r…
