There was a post which would have brought up a discussion of the current trend of some players refusing to stand for the National Anthem. I am sure there are some strong opinions on this topic. I deleted the post simply because from past experience this would become a powder keg in short order. We try not to censor posts, we really do, but we also do not want the Bears Forum to be used to discuss topics which might be very sensitive to members and result in controversial exchanges of opinion on topics not related to football. I hope everyone understands.

It looks like the Bears are not expected to pick up the 5th year option. This will be the ultimate litmus test on how the team feels about Mitch. If they had any hope he would turn it around, this would be a no brainer. If they truly feel he has hit his ceiling and Foles is the clear QB1, then they won't pick it up. It seems like it comes down to comp picks. It seems like the Bears don't want to risk losing a potential comp pick if they pick up his option, then cut him before his 5th season (like Floyd). Outside of cap numbers, that is the main risk.

read this somewhere and gives some info on Fangio and how it fits. Call it what you will but Fangio's defense is not a straightforward vanilla 3-4. His NT still plays a one gap shade position which actually does fit a guy like Stephen Paea and they can also use Ratliff in that.e role. Fangio plays his other DT as a 3 tech similar to a one gap 4-3 so Sutton is not a waste and Paea and Ratliff can also play that position. I was most disappointed once again with the results of the Hall of Fame balloting for enshrinement and Richard Dent being excluded once again. Dent as well all know was a key piece of the puzzle in the '85 season that we went on to win Super Bowl XX and Dent name the game's MVP as well. I am elated that the bears are so aggressive. However, I remember not too long ago when I and most other members here were asking for Lovie's head. Then when turner was let go and marinelli was made D coach it seemed that we were accepting that Lovie was a lame duck coach with the rest of his staff.
