Curious.. Let's assume everybody was available for the Bears to draft. How would your draft board look like today? *Mine* 1- Luke Joekel, OT Why?: Best pipedream scenario. Best OL in this class. Would be best available player IMO. 2- Eric Fisher, OT Why?: Second best pipedream scenario. With Joekel gone, this guy would be the next best available. 3- Chance Warmack, OG Why? Best guard in the draft. Some say he's the best overall player in the draft. Would be an absolute steal if he fell to 20. 4- Barkevious Mingo, DE/LB (Would play him at LB) Why?: I really like Mingo as a 3-4 OLB, but if he somehow is still there at 20, which…

The Bears can now trot out the following: QB: Cutler RBs: Forte, Bush WRs: Marshall, Bennett, Jeffery, Hester, Knox(?) TEs: Davis, Rodriguez There appear to be no excuses left over this year. What are your expectations for the offense? Top half of the league? Top ten of the league? What I do know is this: 2012 is the year we finally get to settle the age-old debate on TalkBears about whether amassing enough skill-position players can overcome a weak OL. Unless Webb has an epiphany, Louis turns better than average, Garza finds the fountain of youth, and the two high draft picks stay healthy, I think this will be yet another year where the Bears h…

I'd love to see the Insider Offseason Playbook that was posted today if anyone can help....Not sure if those articles can be copy and pasted but that'd be pretty sweet. I like one of the comments that summed the article up and I'd like to read more on what was said about it. It sounds like something I was talking about earlier.

I know it's PFF and it won't please everyone but this says Spencer was the worst guard in the league... I know he was bad but i thought there had to be SOMEONE worse. Paying that man 4.3M last year make me wanna puke....I woulda done better and would have gladly takin the 825k he was worth

Winston was released today by KC. He didnt play well last year, but was one of the better RTs two years ago in Houston. May be able to add him for a reasonable price.

Found a cool little write up on a site regarding the Bears' best 6 options at T in FA, although maybe now it's the top 5 with Beatty being retained. It's the top article http://www.chicagobearsweblog.com/blog/index.php (no, it's not me despite the same name)

We have Kellen Davis Matt Spaeth Brody Eldridge Kyle Adams Ben Onobun under contract for 2013. So if we cut Davis and Spaeth that gives us app. 3.9 mil in cap relief. I dont know if the others on the roster have valve but would suppose one will stay for depth. All three wont cost anything if we cut them. Our options in FAgency(not all but ones that may apply) Jared Cook, a good option but will probably cost 5 to 6 mil a year.(only a couple more than we are paying Kellen and Matt)(if we cut them) Kellen Davis, has had some injury issues but has sho…

No trades. Make it somewhat realistic (i.e. no kickers in the first round). 1. Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU. The Bears pass on multiple OL prospects for a LB. He is potentially overrated because of the skill level in front of him at LSU, and because of his questioned speed. 2. Vance McDonald, TE, Rice. Ertz and Eifert go early and the Bears panic. Could be McDonald/Escobar/Kelce, but it still ends up being a really bad reach. 4. Stedman Bailey, WR, WVU. A smaller, bad fit WR who would do next-to-nothing to improve the offense, and will most likely have a hard time translating his skills to the NFL level. 5. JC Tretter, OG, Cornell. The OL issues are recogn…

I would like to hear some thoughts on drafting him with our pick in Rd 2? One of the mocks on Walterfootball has us taking him there. There's not a lot of game tape on him but he seems to have the athletic skills you need at OT. We need to be talking about the 2nd Rd OTs because if we go best available in Rd 1 as Emery and Trestman said they want to do, then this is a realistic possibility. Also in this area is Terron Armstead who opened some eyes with his faster than Te'o 4.71 forty.

Since things have become clearer with the Bears tagging Melton. Whats next? We restructure contracts for players that will be here for a while. Marshall, extended three years, Jennings extended 3 years, Gould extended 2 years. Bennett extended 2 years. We resign Idonije for one year, Collins for 2 years, D.J. Moore for one, Melton for a 5 year 39 mil deal, 6 mil against cap this year. we cut Davis, Hester, Spaeth, Toenia. We sign in FAgency Brad Jones/MLB, Daryrl Smith/OLB, (worked with Tucker in Jac) King Dunlop/LT (a better LT than Webb)read the stats (to whom it may concern),Chase Daniels/QB (ties to Kroner) We trade down with AZ to get #38,6…

Did the Bears pay too much? I read this tidbit from Sun Times and have a bit of confusion within me: What was the actual cost of the Cutler trade with Denver? The Broncos drafted defensive end Robert Ayers with the Bears’ first-round pick in 2009 (18th overall). The 49ers acquired the 2010 first-round pick from the Broncos and drafted offensive tackle Anthony Davis with 11th overall pick. And the swap of third/fifth round picks turned into a trade of wide receivers — Mike Wallace (by the Steelers in the third round) for Johnny Knox (by the Bears in the fifth round). Trading for Cutler certainly changed the course of the franchise, and there is no guarantee…
