49ers, Jimmy Garoppolo agree to five-year deal Posted by Michael David Smith on February 8, 2018, 1:36 PM EST Getty Images The 49ers have their franchise quarterback locked up for years to come. Jimmy Garoppolo has agreed to a five-year deal with the 49ers, according to multiple reports. The full numbers aren’t out yet, but Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that the total value is $137.5 million, which would make it just a bit better than the five-year, $135 million deal Matthew Stafford got from the Lions last year. At $27.5 million a year it’s the biggest per-year average on a long-term contract in NFL history, although there’s no word on how much …

The Patriots have put a price on Jimmy G, seems a little steep to me. They are looking for a 1st and 4th; what do you think? https://www.yahoo.com/sports/news/now-that-...-162636351.html

Wow, shocked at this one. I didn't think he fit the mold they were looking for. A good pass catcher, but so-so blocker. Seems like an overpay after what Burton makes. $8M AAV for a soon to be 34 yr old TE? Hooper got $11M a year for 4 years. We save 3M but get a much older TE. Odd move for me.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Ross and Emery in for secondary interviews this week. Though I think Emery is going to be the guy. 11. He missed mandatory camp and now he is starting training camp hurt with a non football injury. Hope it isn’t serious but I’m a little concerned his ego has gotten a bit too big - need to see him show that hunger. I know he wants a huge new deal just one year after signing. If he wants it - go out and crush it - go be an all pro db! Less talk - more production. Will be curious how BJ and Dennis Allen handle cause this could be a test of leadership - but hopefully it’s nothing.
