With all the talk of the money wasted by Pace and his so so selections in the draft and free agency we could be in a good situation in the offseason. It looks like the contracts are Bears friendly and prove it and you get paid or we move on without it majorly affecting our cap. The contracts below are from over the cap and the only players I would definitely want to keep are Trevathan with a possibility of Sitton, Demps and Young. Time on my hands looked up the drafts of our last 2 GMs which means our current and former. Found out that JA made 83 picks of which 18 are still in the league and of those 83, 10 made the Pro Bowl. Emery has made 12 picks, 9 are still in the league and with the team with 2 having made the Pro Bowl and if we consider Brandon Marshall as an acquisition then Emery edges out JA who had Urlacher already in the fold, drafted Tillman and Briggs, but acquired no one in his first two years that made the Pro Bowl. Do any of you think the window is closed? I do. Despite having a young offense, most of those young guys suck. Omiyale, Knox, Webb, and Hester all suck. The defense is great, but by the time 2012 comes around (which is when the next season will be most likely) Urlacher, Peppers, Briggs, Idonije, Tillman, and C.Harris will all be TWO years old on top of their already advanced ages. I love football season. Now that college season has started, I like to follow my team Notre Dame, but more importantly I like to follow top players I'd like to see the Bears draft. Today I'm watching North Carolina, they have a LB Kevin Reddick I've seen some mocks with the Bears taking in the 2nd. How about we use this post to mention players we like for the Bears.

Hunter was already in a tough position. Coming off a bad season, the guy who replaced him has been seemingly replaced by a veteran (Pisa), likely pushing Hunter further down the depth chart. Hunter needs to make a strong case to stick, but w/ the injury, he can't even play right now. IMHO, the best argument for him to stay on the team was his ability to provide depth at both SLB and MLB. Just read today that, w/ Urlacher held out of practice (for a minor issue), it was Jamar Williams manning the middle. I'm going Williams. I'd rather pay the extra few million for a guy that I believe is an elite end. Just my 2 cents. Plus, I think it makes our defense that much better and should help us when it comes to going against the Lions/Packers pass attacks.

I was wondering with all the Sherman trade talk; What are they asking for him? I'm thinking too much. At 29, he still has many years left. I also think once he loses a step that he would be a phenomenal FS. He's probably one of the smartest players I've seen. Then there's the mouth... Let it rip fellas!

Reportedly Acho has looked good as well but some of that could just be his familiarity with the 3-4 which gives him the advantage up front.
