The Bills are cutting ties with OG Derrick Dockery, who they signed to a $49 million deal with $18.5 guaranteed only 2 years ago. The last contract he signed was, at the time, the biggest contract a Guard had gotten (pretty sure Faneca passed him).

  4. Jones has suitors but wants to stay with Bears Recommend (4) Comments March 1, 2009 BY BRAD BIGGS bbiggs@suntimes.com Kevin Jones never used his knee as an excuse last season, but he was eight months removed from surgery to repair a torn right anterior cruciate ligament when the season began. Now the running back is ready to show what kind of player he still is five years after being a first-round pick of the Detroit Lions. RELATED STORIES No reaching for the stars ''This is Kevin Jones' comeback year,'' Jones said Saturday from Blacksburg, Va., where he was visiting former college teammates at Virginia Tech. ''Whatever opportunity I get, it'…

  6. I participated in a 4 round mock draft with our old affiliation (www.nflfans.com) this morning. Pretty much every team had a representative, no trades, and we went straight through in about 2 1/2 hours. Things did not go at all as I had expected them to, so I thought I would share my picks, my thoughts, and the full results: 1) Mark Sanchez, QB, USC - I was truly unprepared for Sanchez to be here and had been preparing to take a WR. But Maclin went right before my pick and all the next WRs batch (DHB, Britt, Nicks, Robiskie, Harvin) were still on the board. Knowing that our back-up QB is currenly Hanie, not being sold on Orton, and hoping that I could at least get Ro…

BROWNS CUT SHAFFER Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 12, 2009, 6:13 p.m. The Cleveland Browns cut starting right offensive tackle Kevin Shaffer today rather than pay him a pending $1.5 million roster bonus, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com. Per a source, Caplan reports that the Browns created $1.45 million in salary-cap room for 2009. Yet, the team will still be forced to hold $4.56 million in dead money due to the proration of the guaranteed money remaining over the final four years of his contract. Agent Alan Herman, who represents Shaffer, said that the Browns are still interested in possibly re-signing Shaffer. Ryan Tucker is expected to replac…

LT for Buffalo, but at 340lbs, I have to believe he can play LT or RT. Buffalo is reportedly not even close in discussion of a new contract, which led to Peters holding out part of last year. Could be available through trade. (a) Can he play RT ( Would he accept the RT position © Is he worth the sort of money he is likely looking for, which is likely in the Gross ballpark (d) what would it take to get him.

We are all huge Bears fans and just like football, thats why were on this blog. I am a glass half full person, so I always think the powers that be are always doing the right thing. I thought they must be pretty smart to get us to a Super Bowl in 06 with a top 15 RB, a top 20 WR, and not much at QB, but the last two years I have lost my faith in Loveme, and JerryGM. We have had lousy drafts as a whole and make lots of mistakes with the personal. I think they have made bad desicions in the couching area also. So the half empty glass has creeped in. We are 16 and 16 the last two years. I want everything they do to turn out ok, because it will make my team a winner but that …

Wanted to tell of something that happened last night. I was up at the club (Lifetime Fitness) and there was this guy in the locker room pissed off because his phone was just stolen. He was really going to town on the guy who works there. I thought I recognized him, and asked at the front desk if he was who I thought he was. Sure enough. It was Michael Irvin. The playmaker himself. I have to say, after reading story after story, he is about as big of a jerk as I always read. The locker room has, you guessed it, lockers. You insert your membership card and pull out the key. So lockers are free and secure, but Mr. Irvin didn't feel the need to use one, and I …

Other than a few high end drafts picks, Britton, Britt, Nicks, I think almost all the private workouts are second day picks. They seem to be looking for that diamond in the rough all the time. Althought, come to think of it, thats where they draft the best anyways. Payne , Graham, ect.

So I've taken enough potshots at other people's mocks (all constructive criticism, I promise) - I figured it was time to let you guys tee off on two of mine. As a caveat, I used Draft Tek's big board as a reference. Their mocks are suspect sometimes, but their big board is usually pretty good. Each one of my choices is a guy who Draft Tek has projected to be available somewhere around that pick. The first scenario I've got has Chicago standing pat with all their current picks: 1.18) Hakeem Nicks, WR, UNC 2.49) Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma 3.84) Paul Kruger, DE, Utah 3.99) Jason Williams, OLB, Western Illinois 4.119) Nate Davis, QB, Ball State 5.154) …

I'm not going to get my hopes up but i will be praying. got that stat from this espn article http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4031893

Washington Post I don't want to start any rumors but it could be us if JA is unsure about getting Cutler. I'd love Campbell. He can dink and doink but has a laser. He hasn't been all that great in his career but in his 1st 3 years he's had 3 different coaches. That is tough.

Heard Ditka last night, and basically said win/win situation. Denver got a lot, and Chicago got a franchise QB. Ditka said he does wonder about Cutler as a leader, but also said that was due to a lack of time as much as recent situations. Today on Mike & Mike, interview was more in depth. It was obvious Ditka was tired of talking about the trade, and began to tease M & M about calling some foreigh diplomats for their opinion, so Greenie turned the subject some toward the incident leading up to the trade. Ditka said both sides blew it, and was fairly even keel, but then the coach came out and he talked about how one man is in charge, and that is the co…

Just for fun, I figured I'd take a look at what FAs might be available next year. According to KFFL (http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/features/freeagents/fa.php?option=WR&y=2010), the list includes: Chris Chambers Braylon Edwards Lee Evans Vincent Jackson Greg Jennings Brandon Marshall Derrick Mason Hines Ward Roddy White Some of those guys may have already signed extension that they haven't reflected yet, but that's a hell of a list right there. If Denver doesn't have a great year, you think Marshall's not running toward Chicago with both hands in the air? The problem, the much-anticipated "uncapped year" of 2010 will probably actually h…

Over the course of his career in Chicago, Lovie Smith has seen about all that there is to see. He started his career with a lowly team that looked to improve as the season progressed. Year two, he saw his Bears, lead by a tenacious defense and special teams, beat the packers and make the playoffs, much to the satisfaction of Bear nation. Year three, the team peaked by winning the division and making it to the Super Bowl using the same formula as the year before and utilizing their new weapon in Devin Hester. Year four, the Bears were proclaimed to be bulletproof by the collective thoughts of some NFL executives. They were regarded as the only team i…
